I pretty much tell you how much I like your videos every week, but I don't tell you why. Here it is: you are very creative and you inspire me. I can't tell you how exciting it is to see what you have reinvented. And I am not talking about paring the white t shirt with all you looks, then doing the same with the black t-shirt, then the white blouse.....I can do that on my own. Since I began watching your videos (6-8 weeks ago), I have taken your lead and started looking at my well curated wardrobe with a new sense of adventure. There is nothing sadder than cleaning house after your relative died and finding brand new clothes, bought decades ago and never worn, just collecting dust and waiting for an occasion that is special enough (same goes for fancy china, jewelry, glasses...) Just a lifetime of missed opportunities and perpetual waiting for something (Godot?)... Use your things, love them or give them to others to love and use. Your daughter will not thank you for that crisp new vintage dress, but she will always remember the softness of your favourite sweater that became synonymous with mom hugs. As always Alyssa, such an inspirational video, thank you😊

I have a good girlfriend who showcases all sorts of beautiful vintage treasures in her home and always says; "make yourself at home, nothing is precious here" ... really makes me feel like I'm comfortable and cherish the space I'm in even more! Great tips. I wear my "holiday" clothes year round myself". I do like you are suggesting, I mix fabrics, like wearing my sequins with basics, etc. My grandmother told me years ago; just being alive is a Special occasion! Wear your nice stuff year round! So, that is how I live my life. I pair my fancy shoes with jeans and a T, or my sequin pencil skirt with a graphic Tee and a beenie, etc. I really enjoy your videos! Keep them coming!

"Arm party" - love it! Also loved how you further explore the idea of toning down formal wear and dressing up casual wear in this one. You are the only fashion RU-vidr I can think of who promotes the use of separates - I LOVE that! I've always been big on separates but had started to doubt myself. Now I'm good so thank you!

My favorite was the simple v neck with the navy culottes! I never would have thought to use a necklace as a belt either! All of the outfits were just great! Your poses are cute too when you give the little wave and the cutaway of your shoes. Love your style Soo much!

Love your helpful tips Alyssa! Yes ask the host of a house party about whether shoes are allowed. As I am from Japan, most houses do not allow shoes, so I dress accordingly. No long pants that require heels. I have even kept a pair of party mules that I have never worn outside to bring and wear for such an occasion. I am with you, the right footwear is essential for styling an outfit. Another thing I take into account is if it is a sit down dinner, I want to make sure the top part of my outfit looks festive enough or I look like I’m wearing a plain T-shirt in pictures. Of course I can glam it up with hair, make up and earrings or necklace. If it is a cocktail party, want to wear festive footwear that are comfortable enough for me to be on my feet for most of the night. You made my day. Sending you love and appreciation from LA.

The other thing to do if you feel you need to glam your feet but shoes aren't appropriate (maybe a beach wedding) is - have you seen those kinda foot 'necklaces'? No I don't mean anklets - these actually drape from toes to up around the ankle (I love them but I'm into boho, they're also easy to diy)

1. Love the thin silver belt with the white tee and long gold skirt. 2. "Hmmm....let's throw a holiday party and make our guests take their shoes off at the door." Is this a Canada thing? ;-D 3. Cream tulle skirt is TDF, and so chic paired with the belted blazer. What a great way for those of us with tummies to wear a full skirt like that. The blazer pares down the poof. I would have never thought of it. You're a genius.

I see my favorite skirt hanging in the background the multilevel fringe midi skirt, was hoping that it was going to be in one of your looks. Like all the looks you put together. Oh Alyssa love the gold long skirt and beautiful white T. This video is so creative. They are great jeans. Very classy and flattering. Monocromatic always a winner. There' my favourite sequenced dress!!!! I love this with those red pumps. And I actually like sheer stockings. Sometimes bare legs does not always look that great especially as we age. When you said that about using a necklace as a belt I thought maybe I could piece together some smaller (but matching) necklaces too but drape lots in front to create a statement from layering of strands or maybe add a pendant - kinda boho idea. I need to experiment 😀

This is an amazing video Alyssa and such great outfits. I have most of the items in this video including a sequin top which I was trying to find a new, creative way to wear (it's scratchy besides!) Great job and I think it is rude to ask guests to remove their shoes. I can't imagine what kind of flooring a house might have that it can't handle people walking on it with shoes!

Flash backs to my 14 year old wedding outfit! I was too practical and not so traditional back then to buy a $$$ dress only to be worn once. I was in Shanghai the month before my wedding so I had a royal blue and gold silk jacquard jacket with frog buttons etc and a black velvet long skirt tailor made while there - 2 week turn around was the slow route. Skirt wasn't for me in the long run but I have worn the jacket multiple times since with black trousers. Thinking a holiday house party with a black turtle neck, black jeans and some black velvet slippers (aunt's trick) for comfort and host awareness would work. Love all of your hacks and styling tricks. Keep them coming. Curious - did you keep your wedding dress? You've mentioned your shoes alot.

I did keep my wedding dress ... It's currently at my parents but I think I will have it made into a shirt cocktail dress and then maybe a top ...
