Another thing about the picture against the wall that I found out about via tik tok was that the invitations to Mike Rubin’s All White party was custom painted canvases for each person. So I also think Kendrick is hinting at the fact that he got invited to the party but didn’t go because that’s not his thing. I also think him waving at the camera towards the end was him waving at everybody at the White Party😂😂😂

Thanks for this breakdown; really fascinating. The Drake album cover/tightrope imagery could be a reach…BUT I think it’s interesting that the NWTS cover art was done by Kadir Nelson, an iconic LA-based artist whose work primarily focuses on Black American life, experience and culture. He’s done stuff around the history of Negro League Baseball, he did a gorgeous picture book called “Heart and Soul: The Story of America and African Americans.” I do think that scene is a cover recreation that’s taking a shot at Drake for being both reverential (or fetishizing) and dismissive of Black American culture, he's walking a tightrope trying to do both. But who knows...thanks again guys!

The first scene of the owl is from the owl “Drake’s” perspective and then the second scene of Kendrick looking at the owl from his perspective and reality. The image of him and his family shows him dressed in black and her in white since her race was a big issue. Dancing in his grandmother’s home because as he said the family matters.

Great job overall…except… Why immediately dismiss the possibility that the “Black woman” cripwalking on the tightrope might have a deeper meaning, highlighting the plight of Black girls and women in America? …especially knowing Kendrick? That tightrope dance was intentionally added. Dot used it for a whole scene, only that without distraction. It means something. smh
