@James Paul - you are right in the books he throws them in the trash in the way out of the store once he’s brought some new clothes. I loved the books, Alan is the perfect example of what I thought Jack “no middle name” Reacher would be
@@H.K.5 Showing off while making a point. He showed that he was there willingly and could have left at anytime, and was powerful enough to be an absolute nightmare for them if he was not compliant. And he did it in such a way that essentially made all the men present feel somewhat insecure and the one woman.... well, we saw how she reacted to it later lol.
"im the size of a bear, this is less than half an inch of plastic, i dont- i dont understand the level of thought you put into this. you literally think i killed a guy."
I've read or watched something that explained that if you are handcuffed with zip ties you should close your fists instead of having your hands open before being tied because it's way harder almost impossible if not. That way you have a bit of room to be able to break them. And that's what he does here. The cop that tied him probably didn't pay attention to that. I think it would still need some strenght tho and Reacher have plenty of that.
@@harazhangf5782 only if you were to use regular store bought zip ties. police uses specialized zip ties, which in most cases have a wire running though them. The plastic alone is almost impossible for a human being to brake through, yes even him, and with the wire, no chance. ever. Good luck basing your reality on hollywood. But the police will stand there laughing as you cut the wire into your own flesh.
Actually, it was quite intelligent to leave the zip-tie in place while getting the lay of the land. If it had been Hicksville and they'd planned to railroad him, breaking the zip-tie, putting a few of the cops down for a nap and beating a hasty retreat might well have been his play. No need for them to know he could snap them at will.
Zip cuffs are used only as temporary restraints. They fail more often than not because the plastic/nylon locking mechanism becomes brittle with age. But in Reachers case it was just sheer brute strength!
"Brittle with age" sure if theyre holding together a fence in the field through all weather and conditions for numerous years. Reacher had them on for 20 mins XD
handcuffs are used as temporary restraints also. and as another stated, yes the zip ties will wear out- but asyou stated- WITH AGE. people in custody aren't going to be wearing zip ties for months or years
I see mistake by the prop department. Typically what happens as the locking tooth breaks. Not the strap. But I like the optics, I could’ve got out anytime I want but I didn’t because I’m showing respect for you. I believe that also was in one of the Superman movies.
Well, I have torn up a few zip ties in my day (though, granted, they were all thinner than that one) and the tooth never breaks - they always snap in a way much resembling what we see in the scene. I've been eyeing a zip tie similar to this one in the office for a few days, thinking about giving it a try and now no one can say I don't have a good reason - it's for science, you see, ha-ha. Will let you know how it goes.
@@FrnchNHale 404 - Strength not found :D Seriously, though, I was punching way above my weight (at least with that one.) I've seen techniques for breaking zip ties which may work, but in my book if you don't do it the "coll guy" way (like Reacher does in the clip) it doesn't really count :)
I saw a video that showed how to break zip-ties. You have to be able to reach your shoes and take the laces out. Then you use a lace to saw through the tie. The friction melts the plastic so you can break it. Reacher cheated by beasting his way out!
@@ipotato95 obviously massive zip ties are going to be nigh impossible for the average joe to break but the ones reacher was wearing in this scene could be broken by a child.
Funny thing is, anyone can do that. It's about technique, not strength, That's why if the police ziptie you, they don't do it with your palms together.
Who titled this video and what language do they normally speak? Reacher was quite literally MORE than a match for the Zip-Ties, he broke them like they were made of dental floss.
Why is this guy not Batman, perfect match for it, heavy chin, big build and what a great deep smooth voice.. definitely a perfect match to be the next Batman
@@chef_loudencer6040 Easily fixable. For the role of Reacher the man gained 30 lbs of pure muscle, that's not something you want to sustain long-term. It's just not healthy.
I'm almost positive I've seen a vid showing, how to get out of zipties like these, and it was possible without Reacher's level of strength with the correct technique.
You don't tug on Superman's cape. You don't spit into the wind. You don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger, and you don't put zip-ties on Reacher!
It's the other way around... if Reacher was no match for zip ties he would not be able to break them. In this case, zip ties are no match for Reacher. EDIT: I just realized this is probably just smart marketing. Get comments on the video by setting the title as something obviously wrong.
Except Superman didn’t even need to try, he just casually stretched his arms out and they broke 😂 I think Luke Cage breaking his handcuffs in The Defenders is a better comparison.
Overall great series, but there's two episodes in the middle that feel unnecessary, just episode count padding, and at times Reacher acts out of character like an action-hero goofball.
