In the game, Tess did get infected, but it was FEDRA who had shot the fireflies and were waiting to ambush anyone else who would rendevous with them, so when Tess, Joel, and Ellie showed up, Tess stayed behind to shoot some of the officers so that Joel and Ellie could escape. She was shot soon after the officers entered the building and she took out a couple of them. The player as Joel also had to either sneak by or kill the FEDRA officers on the way out. This show did something different, which is pretty refreshing as a person who has played and loved the games.

I think they are also avoiding making fedra complete bad guys, which I think also enhances the story. Fedra is a controlling dictatorship in the show, but honestly, they are just trying their best to survive like anyone else. The scene in the first episode with the guard comforting the child she has to kill showcases that. She didn't want to kill them, but had no choice.

One thing I like about that opening, tracing the initial spread to a flour factory in Jakarta, is that there may not have _been_ an individual "Patient Zero" - it's possible several (or all) of the missing workers got infected directly from the contaminated flour.

If it was coffee, how can you explain why Joel would have survived outbreak day? The reason the source is flour is Jakarta has the worlds LARGEST flour mill and it is exported all over the world and Tommy, Joel nor Sarah ate any flour based items. .

The rules of the infection is that no one last a day, you'll be completely infected within the day, in EP 1 there's a sign where the infection are timed depends on where you got infected, the more the infection is near the brain, the faster you turn. Joel is referring to himself when he said that someone last in 20years because it's exactly 20years when Sarah died. I love both reactions from both of you, I'm getting two types of reactions where someones haven't played the game and someone who played the game, great job!

I've read about some cordiceps growing in caterpillars. When it is almost finished, it makes caterpillar crawl from the ground, to spread spores, i think. Those caterpillars turn into mushrooms almost entirely and are picked up to make some kind of traditional medicine in China. Fun read, overall. Really like Stella's points. The world so far is not really fully described

The actress playing the professor. Actors need to study and analyze her performance there. That was unbelievably good. Not just the emotions, but her posture, her movement, even her breathing changes make her performance amazing. Especially her sitting with the tea. Someone pointed out that timing wise the adults would have got to see the first two Lord of the Ring films, but not the third. RotK was December 17, 2003 release. That is the real tragedy here I feel.

Tess said it was normally a 10 minute walk to the state house if you could go straight. The chart in episode 1 said the bite take 12-24 hours if on the leg or foot 2-8 hours for hands, arms, torso, and shoulder 5-15 minutes for head, face and neck. So it fits

For those who haven't played the game.... I totally recommend playing all of them (including DLC), they are just like a movie... masterpiece of a movie! You could also watch gameplays lol The show becomes 10 times better after you know the story and catch every easter egg and game quote!

..They very deliberately held on a shot showing a chart with exact time-to-infection windows based on bite location in the very first present day sequence of the first episode.. The rules are pretty clearly established and the characters appear to very plainly be aware of them. The entire intro of the infected child being euthanized basically existed in part just to communicate that to the audience. It's like the complete opposite of flexible.

That kiss was so effing stupid, I really wish it wasn't there, because this episode was fantastic. They did change a many things but it's fine. This series will be more fun and interesting to watch as a gamer who's well-played it and watched the other thoroughly, so my heartstrings won't be tugged by them 😂. But I do get misty from a really well acted cry of "Noo" when someone dies. This reaction was so funny. But my gawd, I'd wanna be with my loved...
