Today Drew from Genetically Modified Skeptic and I are reacting to two MLM Coaches, Jessie Lee (Imbosslee or Bosslee) and Colleen (No Shame Sales Game), who recently had a discussion about the “AntiMLM Movement”. They titled their discussion something along the lines of Anti-Anti-MLM talk. Do they have good points against common anti-MLM arguments? Tune in to find out!

Thank you to have taken the time to positively critic their schemes! To show what is the real facts actually and proveable! I've been in Jehovah's Witnesses since my birth until my 28 years old when I decided to dissacociate myself at the price of being shunned and disowned by my mom and the only peoples I ONLY knew! I quitted their Sectarian Cult as it was starting costing my life and I was on the brink to kill myself by all the intolerance given to me for the Non-Binary Trans Woman I am that I actually did my coming-out 6 months before dissacociating myself! So, seeing those MLMs, how they actually technically are a High Control Groups just like where I was, it drives me insane when I hear them saying so much nonsense that are technically unproven, where all the data we give them show how wrong they are, but still, they prefer lying in giving data that are technically false and just pure malicious lies! What just Primarily maked me shout out loud is that affirmation when they litteraly said that being Anti-MLM is being against women! It just went under my skin! MLM aren't Pro-Women, even if they have a majority of women in those MLM, the women are still monetarily abused to have nearly nothing while the top 1% have everything! THEY ARE abusing women in their schemes! And even if they wouldn't abuse their Sales representatives, they still are technically Pro-Cis Women ONLY, those MLMs are highly built by TERFS that won't even let Trans Women join their Parties, or any sessions at all! Peoples like me are still considered as not real women by those organisations! So hearing them DARING to say being Anti-MLM is Anti-Women, it is just raising every hair on my head and is boiling my nerves as well as insulting my own integrity!

Recruits ARE customers. Period. This is a critical fact that justifies the claim that MLMs are pyramid schemes
@kilibubblecata6266
@kilibubblecata6266 2 года назад
Yup. And the other one is that the very judicial precedent from the 1979 Amway trial, which allows MLMs to operate legally, is not only never enforced, it is inherently unenforceable. The "70% rule" states that distributors must sell 70% of the inventory they purchase each month, and the "10 customer rule" states that the sales must be made to at least 10 different "retail" or "outside" customers, and the burden is on the distributor - not the company - to provide proof of this to their "sponsor" (upline) and "Direct Distributor" (the MLM). To my knowledge, no MLM EVER has told people to keep track of this, nor have they ever asked their distributors for proof of this - because, in my opinion, they don't want a paper trail of that. This precedent is only ever referenced in individual FTC investigations into companies that have been accused of being pyramid schemes, which, again, puts the burden of both reporting en masse the company's alleged crimes, and of the financial harm that all of those reporting the crimes have inevitably been subject to in the meantime. Whatever the original intention of this ruling, its actual effect is to essentially make the distributors/recruits/customers bear all of the responsibility and harm while giving the MLMs free reign to make millions to billions of dollars and skirt any legal responsibility right up until the very end - if there even is an end. MLMs are pyramid schemes. They are criminal organizations, and they know it. And the worst part is that our government (the US government I mean, but many others too) is complicit - and they have been ever since that Amway ruling.

I'm a little confused by one of her claims. She basically said that it's in her DNA to outwork everyone, but she was living in a basement and barely scraping by. Why was she in that situation to begin with and how is it she only got out once she was in an MLM with people in her downline? I know things can happen, it just seems odd that someone who's genetically predisposed to be the hardest working person in business would need to be in a business where their downline is making them money in order to get out of a tough spot.

The predator vs victim thing in my opinion is them not understanding that 1)Its the business model that is inherently predatory. They are causing harm by participating in a predatory business model, whether their intention is to cause harm or not. I personally would not call anyone except for the founders/owners of the MLM itself predators, but that's personal opinion. 2) They are victims of brain washing/influence by a predatory business model that is not honest. You can still be a victim of something, but it doesn't excuse you from the consequences of your actions. I do/say shitty things sometimes due to mental health issues, but that doesn't negate my responsibility for the things I do/say. Its my responsibility to deal with the consequences if I cause harm to others, intentional or not. This idea that you can't both be a victim and cause harm to others is just not reality.

What's baffling is that they assume that everyone who sees MLMs for the scams that they are is broke, works in a cubicle, and struggles through life. I work from home, I have flexible hours, I have PTO and health insurance, I love what I do, I pay all my bills without any issues, and I have a good amount of disposable income that I either save or use for fun stuff. And I don't need to make regular videos about how my job is not a scam. There isn't a single industry other than MLMs that have an anti community. That's for a reason. It's so telling about who their target audience is: BROKE, STRUGGLING, VULNERABLE people; which proves they're predatory. Also, in my opinion, Jesse Lee talks and expresses herself like her brain is fried; like she's always either drunk or high on pills. I have no idea how anyone takes anything she says seriously. And Colleen just straight up looks like a bullshiter and always misses the point.

But those jobs have support from people who don't make money from it.

ngl, the "not knocking having a job, but people who don't join my team and prefer their stable job are ridiculous" is ABSOLUTELY knocking having a stable job. It doesn't make it not insulting when you say "I'm not insulting you, I just think that you're stupid" Like, it's still an insult???

This chick literally didn't stop talking the entire video. I feel like people like this just talk, and talk, and talk, people in circles until they have no idea what they are doing and they sign on the dotted line because they feel so discombobulated after one conversation with them. Its people like her that I can see taking HUGE advantage of meek, uncertain women who just need some extra money... and then they get screwed over.

Its ridiculous how they compare working for an MLM to an uber eats or babysitting job. While maybe you can make 300$ doing each of them, the MLM will be so much more time consuming, often in the region of a full time job even for 300$ (with all the meeting, trainings etc they have to attend and give) and while with uber eats / babysitting you might one month make 0 dollars if no jobs come in, in the MLM you might lose a lot of money each months (depending on which mlm you’re in, but they ALL have overpriced products they make you buy). Such a joke.

I just find this 'interview' so disingenuous. It just so happens that her rent, of a single room in a basement, went up $300 a month, which is exactly the amount NSSG noted as being life changing? It's just all very convenient that every single one of these very monetarily successful mlmers have the same 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps! I was broke! I worked hard!' story. If you worked so hard (and that's all there is to making money, according to the gospel of MLM), how were you broke to begin with? Wouldn't you have worked your way up in a retail sales job? Car sales or jewelry or some other item? If your skills were so exceptional? The dots just don't line up to me in their stories. It all rings very false to me. And to be clear - it's the behaviour and the narrative rings false. And they've just brought up the 'women hating women - you are anti-women!' As if feminism is about always supporting and endorsing every woman on the planet no matter what they do. Oh boy. And now we are up to male versus female brains and 'look up science studies'. Citation please? I am going to need a coffee to get through part 2. Thanks as always for being calmer than I could be and for always centering the facts of the industry and the logical fallacies that HAVE to be employed by advocates of mlms in order to defend the industry.
@JamesQMurphy

A skill you can learn in an MLM that can be used elsewhere is how to upsell in other settings, which can make certain types of employers want you. Car sales, for instance. I'm not a fan of high-pressure sales, but that's what you learn in MLMs. You aren't going to learn anything POSITIVE that can be used elsewhere. If you have to resort to high pressure, that is a negative.

The "victim predator" dichotomy is so bizarre, does she not realize not all predators are the apex of their environment? Even in humans, think about a violent criminal being randomly attacked in prison or hit by a bus running a red light, there are SO many examples of how these are not a dichotomy in any coherent way.

I don't think they're understanding that there is a world of difference between hating women, and hating the peddling of harmful business models that happens to often be done by women. I am 100% here for supporting women (and anyone else) running and working for legitimate businesses, but I'm under no obligation as a woman to support anyone participating in and promoting a system that largely preys on vulnerable women simply because many of the scammers happen to also be women. That's not me hating women, because at the end of the day it has fuck all to do with anyone's gender; that's me hating scams.

Jessie Lee looks so much healthier here. Before both her quack Dr with masses of injectable supplements (she had a video about them) and cutting our all veggies. Also before symptoms of cancer, which she denies having symptoms, and is 'claiming' to be cancer free post op, despite a stage 4 diagnosis implying that a cancer has spread beyond the initial location, also states this despite what pathologists report. Never wish any illness on anyone, but her levels of denial, and the expectation the mlm system places on her so that she is leading at conferences within weeks of a major op. Etc... She needs to take time out to deal with the cancer.

I was in the MLM zyia active for almost three years. I had a “team of 80 women” - it took watching others and feeling demoralized by this broken model for me to look at the stats. It’s so embarrassing to join this business model and then wake up from it - and I was considered “successful.” It’s not a real business, it’s a faulty dream, and it does harm people - even worse though… I couldn’t wrap my mind around the vapid thinking that you have to have to maintain the mental state you need to to stay in an MLM.

Mlms start by saying join us to make enough money to turn your life around, and it's easy in pockets of time. Then people join and get told, you have to work your business at all hours and join online training using up your time. Whilst saying how you need to not quit because if takes time, keep going despite being out of pocket on the monthly auto shipment order required to be eligible for commission etc
