Reacting to *Avatar: The Last Airbender* Episode 3

It took me a few episodes for me to fully see this as its own thing, but I was actually eager to see what changes they made after I completely accepted it. I don't love every change they made, but I don't really _hate_ any of them. I am looking forward to hearing your views on King Bumi in this version. I get why a lot of people dislike him in the next episode, but I ended up being sorta indifferent because I thought Bumi's attitude was more realistic. I will explain more when you release that episode so I don't give any spoilers.

I wonder if they were tying the stories together because at this point they didn't know if there'd be seasons after this. It's why i think studios shouldn't even do shows like this unless there's a multi-season deal already in place.

Honestly, I think Stella is being a bit harsh. This is only the 3rd episode of the series and you guys really are comparing the two a bit too much. You are treating this as though it is the exact same story, just in a different medium, when, in fact, it's a similar story, but also it's own thing. For example, Jet absolutely serves a purpose. He's in this episode so much, not because they want to highlight him, but because he serves as the reason behind Katara's growth and increasing skills in her bending. She wasn't able to master the water whip without his help. He helped her, just like Suki helped Sokka in the last episode. He also serves as a the necessary antagonist for this episode. He's the reason Katara found out about the fire nation spies and the mechanist working with them. He was also the fuel for the fire of Katara and Sokka's fight. And without Katara being involved with him, she wouldn't have known about the plan to assassinate the king. So, his presence and interactions with Katara actually drive a lot of the story in this episode. As far as the jumping not working, um, it's a fantasy series. The bending, which the whole series is based on, wouldn't actually work. And the set up that they have for that jump actually could work. It would be very difficult and unlikely to succeed, but possible. The two carts were traveling in the same direction and the one that they jumped into was further back than the one they jumped from, so they had time to cover the vertical distance while the cart covered the horizontal distance. Like I said, unlikely, but not impossible like you're making it out to be. Also, they are literally in the midst of a rebellion. How exactly are benders supposed to fight if they don't bend? It's not like they're using fire bending to heat up Iroh's tea or water bending to wash clothes. Please, try to give the show a bit more of a chance. Personally, I loved the original show, but I also really enjoy this one, too.

I LOVED this series, considering I hated it at first is wild XD I couldn't get past them combining things and changing things, but I forced myself to look at it like it was a high school AU for Avatar and now I love it XD

From what I have heard (I never watched the original), the anime spent much time just wandering around "having fun," which is NOT how Western fiction is written.

So I think the pacing/combo stories to an episode problem many have with this show is they’re not quite thinking about how you have to write an episode. With the animation, you have 20ish 20 minute episodes with the structure of 1st act to setup and introduce setting, 2nd act to elaborate and set stakes, 3rd to conclude. So while 8 total hour long episodes is technically more time, they still only have 3 acts (usually). Which makes the pacing feel rushed as they have so much to blend. So they definitely had to step back and think of what locations they could combine, whose stories could overlap, etc. The result being where the animation has a feel of 3 kids with ADHD repeatedly being side tracked, the live action feels like bus tour at times. BUT…I still like a lot of what they set out to do with the live action(but no spoilers!)

Loved your reaction as always ❤. You should watch society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing

Having NEVER watched "The Cartoon," I loved watching this presentation of AtLA, and I have no interest in watching "The Cartoon."

Stick with the original animated series. People are getting sick of remakes period.

This channel has turned out to only react to lame stuff.. barely pulling any views . Is it because their patrons who like lame stuff or is it they themselves who like lame stuff ??? I was hoping to see reactions to movies like THE CROW 1994 SIN CITY 2005 THE GIRL WITH THEDRAGON TATTOO 2011 LAW ABIDING CITIZEN 2009 WATCHMEN 2009 etc.... instead they are reacting to total lame stuff.
