But remember, he's also dunking on a 10-foot tall rim, so he's actually covering a distance slightly above 18 feet from his feet to the rim. Most people in the world wouldn't have a prayer of doing that dunk successfully. Many NBA players couldn't even do it, which is why it's always incredible when someone does.

As for why the arena looked a bit empty for that second Carter dunk, it's largely because the Raptors just weren't an especially good team at the time. Drafting McGrady and Carter certainly pushed the team in the right direction though.

They say a good dunk is worth more than 2 points bc it hypes your teammates and it demoralizes your opponents

One of my favorite basketball stories is one about Michael Jordan having back to back dunks in a game. Unfortunately I forget the details of who they were playing but Jordan got the ball, drove and dunked on the other team's point guard who was around 6 feet tall (just under it I think). As he ran back down the court to play defense a fan yelled at Jordan "Hey, Michael how about picking on someone your own size!" The very next trip down the floor on offense, Jordan got the ball again and dunked it on the other team's 7 foot tall center. Jordan started running back down the court, made eye contact with the fan that yelled at him and yelled back "Was he big enough?" Actually it might have been the other team's coach that yelled at MJ, not a fan.

Honestly, these were some of Kobe's least impressive dunks, aside from that preseason crossover dunk. Very weird. His around the back dunk against the Nuggets, his baseline dunk vs. the Knicks and another vs. the Timberwolves, his alleyoop onehanded dunk on Iverson, his soaring two handed reverse dunk vs. the Spurs, his baptism of Dwight Howard, his dunk over 3 defenders vs. the Brooklyn Nets... all way, way better than anything here.

Of course this is just Joseph Vincent's opinion on the matter. I think I would've put Dawkins (the guy that shattered the backboard in the honorable mentions) in the top ten instead of Rose. Although Rose is an amazing player. And for me MJ will always be number 1. Vince Carter is a very close second.
