Reacting to Cruise Ship HATE Comments 😳🤣 

Here's a thought - if they hate cruises so much, why in the world are they watching cruise videos????? Some people have such shallow and miserable lives, they just want to make everyone else miserable.

I love Emma’s passion when responding to these “comments” by haters. Look, everything Emma said in this post is flat out correct. Would you compare the crash worthiness of a 1915 car to a 2020 car, of course not. Then how can you compare the Titanic to a modern Cruise Ship! It’s not just silly its beyond rational. Then, we have the health comments. As the standards are now being implemented a modern Cruise Ship is one of the safest places you could be. I certainly would rather be on a Cruise ship than a crowded football stadium or a crowded movie theater. Finally, if you don’t like Cruises or Cruise Ships then just don’t go on one. Oh, by the way, modern Naval Ships have been overhauled, extended, and refitted. And those are ships of war! Extending a cruise ship is nothing new and its perfectly safe if done according to established engineering standards, which these ships are. And those that attack Emma personally, well, they simply need to grow up and act like an adult, period.

My wife and I were married in 1977. We watched the Love Boat every week and I promised her that one day we would take a cruise. That day came in 2001 when my wife was listening to the radio. The radio station sponsored a cruise and one person had an accident and couldn’t go, so she called up and grabbed the spot. It was on the Carnival Fantasy. Needless to say we have been cruising almost every year since. We love it and so does our daughter!

Here’s a thought....when you are on board the supposedly ugly ship, you are no longer looking at it!

Most cruise haters have never been on a cruise and should not be able to comment on them. Why are they looking at your channel? Are they jealous of those of us who know that cruising is wonderful?

My great grandmother is 98 TODAY and she still cruises! My husband and I are in our later 30s and early 40s, we cruise. We've taken our kids, they were preteen and younger.

I resisted going on a cruise for years, thought they were just for posh people. Boy was I wrong and wasted years of great cruising. Can’t wait to go on another one or 10.

Hotels can be terrible! I find cruise ships so clean!

I just returned from a cruise where crew wiped down/sanitized behind guests, even salt shakers and chairs, every kind of rail, doors, windows. They did it discretely and I was comforted by their diligence, but surprised. No where else is such caution taken. And yes, they also sanitized the obvious, like our cabins, and tables...

Those cruise haters can travel on Greyhound!

Cruisers not into people or culture? Crazy. Been on 8 cruises, and have yet to spend a day on the beach. Seen amazing museums, Mayan temples, wonderful historic sites, and architecture. Its all about culture for many of us!

Was not interested about cruises at all until we decided to go on one. Absolutely loved it. Can’t wait for my next one which was suppose to be in February but just got cancelled 😞

Ok I`m guilty of watching all documentaries about the Titanic before I got on the ship but only because I booked a cruise so for some reason I wanted to see what could happen .. Turns out it is NOTHING like the Titanic and I have no idea why I felt the ship would sink .. The ship we went on was cleaner than my house (and I am known as the Glen 20 and Disinfectant Queen) and I can`t remember a single day where I didn`t see the crew cleaning something and for our cabin to be cleaned twice a day was amazing as we only slept and showered in it. We even had our pool and bath towells changed daily and we only used the pool towells once .. Can`t wait to get back on a cruise ship which as it turns out, is safer than being on land

You are 100% right about the cleanliness of cruise ships.We were on the 8/28 Panorama sailing and it was definitely cleaner than my house & masking was better than the grocery store. We were so happy to be back cruising.

I was a cruise/travel agent for a short time. During my training, I was told of an incident where a person bought an UNLIMITED DRINK package. They drank so much on the first day they got in fights and caused a lot of damage. The captain revoked his package with no refund.

A lot of ocean liner buffs hate cruise ships. I think it's fair to say that the public spaces aren't anywhere near as elegant as something like the SS Normandie, but even the crappiest inside cabin on a modern cruise ship is probably light years ahead of even most first class cabins on a ship like Olympic or Mauritania. There's a lot of rose tinted googles in that community.

I will never understand why to watch cruise ship videos, if you don’t like cruise ships. Doesn’t make any sense to me! Why don’t these people watch content they are interested in? Life is to short.

Whenever a new "world's largest cruise ship" is released (which is every few years at this point), all the people that live under rocks come out saying stuff like "Titanic all over again" as if new ships arent launched every year, it does my head in 😂

I'll admit that for a long time I was one of those who thought you didn't get off the ship much. The idea of just laying in the sun drinking and being pampered seemed unappealingly hedonistic and boring to me. However, getting to explore a different city every day seems right up my alley. Once I learned that's possible it turned my view around.

I have been in a very expensive hotel in Spain where they had Norovirus , it was awful, people being sick in the dining room and less than perfect cleaning. No quarantining of guests with the virus and children being allowed to swim in the pool when they had just been sick. I left quickly. I then caught the virus from a friend who brought it on board Regal Princess in NYC. We were isolated to our cabins , the rooms were cleaned top to bottom 3 times until we were better, all our clothes were washed for free, they did all the tracing of others we met during the hours before we realised we were ill. No one else caught it, which was truly amazing.

I’ve never been on a cruise so I started watching you tube to see what to expect. I find I like your channel, you have a nice voice ( hubby complains about voices ??). You’re informative, concise and enjoyable. I like the genuineness that you appear to have about your own experiences cruising. Thank you

I'm a year late to reply to this one, but I also don't get why people are watching a cruise blog if they don't like cruising. You have the choice to just not watch. You're content is great Emma!!

What always fascinated me was at the onset of COVID-19, cruise ports were immediately closed, thus forcing the passengers to be kept on board. Then they complained the passengers couldn't get off. Thus, those infected had to suffer due to lack of proper medical facilities. Then they blamed the cruise lines for a lack of proper medical facilities. Go figure.

Very well done Emma! I love cruising but the experience could be greatly improved, things can vary by cruise line and who knows what the future protocols will be but I predict these are going away: 1) Lines everywhere and I predict they'll remain even when we resume with social distancing stickers on the ground; embarkment day example of where you'll encounter lines: Luggage drop off, security, check in, once on the ship, elevators, maitre'd, reservations desk, guest service desk, excursions desk, any bar on the pool deck, shows, most activities that are open and even at the hostess stand during meals if you have a reservations...Honorable mention for getting on and off tenders (I waited 45mins to get on a tender and just under 2 hours in Cannes France to get back on the NCL Epic)... 2) Reservations required everywhere; Specialty dining, shows and even tenders, in many circumstances unless you have a high loyalty status, you have to wait to board the ship before you can make reservations yet because high loyalty can made them in advance, you can't book dinners at earlier times or a all before 9pm... 3) Excursions; if cruise lines are forced provide their own excursions, that's going to suck...

I’ve been on 3 cruises varying from 7 to 11 days. I will never go again because I feel trapped. On the other hand, a road trip! Can’t get enough of that!

The one thing I don’t like about cruises is the limited time spent in each port. I like to spend a few at least in each place you go. So doing a only a few hours in each place is a big minus for me. Having said that I do want to try a cruise as it would be cool not to have pack and unpack.

Emma.....You mentioned in passing at the beginning that someone said they didn't like you. I cannot in a million years understand why. I am not a lover of cruises but your videos are a breath of fresh air and I can see all sorts of places and your observations just sitting in my chair. I find it very unfair that the cruise industry is targeted by regualtory agencies like the CDC and not doing anything about hotels or airlines. Also folks that are mean on your site are very insecure trolls, obviously, ignore them completely and ban them if you can.

I know myself very well, and I will never go on a cruise. I am an introvert, don't drink, am a vegetarian who, even so, needs to watch my weight. I don't like flashy entertainment or large crowds. I think I would love going on something like the Queen Mary to go to Europe and back. I have watched some of Emma's videos, and it has been fun to learn about what people like about cruises, though. Cheaper than actually going on one:)

Hi EMMA.... I agree with you totally re cleanliness on ships, much better than hotels..... The problem is the passengers who are unhygienic, some are totally disgusting ignorant lazy people. I happened to confront a man who came out of a cubical toilet who then went to touch my face with his unwashed hands when I asked him to wash his hands before he left the toilet area. This then left to a mouth full of abuse from the person which in turn luckily attracted an officers attention ..... This lead to the passenger being severely reprimanded and being made to wash his hands while being monitored while he did so. The main thing is he was heading to the buffet area, and this it what causes the problems.... The other thing that came from this was a note in daily news letter and an announcement over the tannoy system re hand washing. Like I say its not the cleanliness of the ship thats the issue its the standard of peoples personal habits. This goes for onshore as well. Thanks Emma keep up the good work 👍

Airports, planes, trains , hospitals and shopping malls also carry viruses, on occasions. Best never leave your home!

I like watching cruise ship videos and seeing the amenities they have, but I don't especially love going on cruises myself. I have been on cruises before and feel like I'm stuck on the ship, and it doesn't help they are often overcrowded. There is so much good food for no additional charge, but then I tend to overeat. Just prefer exploring on land for those reasons.

As much as I appreciate what you are saying two key issues stick out for me from the cruise industry: 1. Environmental impact. Using fuel that is a lower grade than diesel and sewage dumping. 2. Labour exploitation.

I tried cruising back in 2018 and got the cruise bug. I go to at least 2 every year. People don’t know what they’re missing out on. There are so many options and so many itineraries with so much to do. Plus the staff is alway nice and the fellow cruisers are a fun type of people to be around. Let the haters stay away so we can enjoy all the fun!!

Hi Emma. My wife and I have been watching some of your older videos and found this one. I have an old story and a new story for you. The new - The RCCL ship that is currently homeported here in Baltimore is Enchantment of the Seas and that is their ship that was stretched. We have sailed on it several times and have another set for 12 days from now and another one in August. We are unconcerned about the seams, even though I walk over them every time I walk down the halls. No problem. The old story is that my grandmother sailed with her mother on a cruise ship of the day from the U.S. West Coast down to Australia and New Zealand. They also had stops in much smaller ports such as Tahiti. The cruise was a gift from my great-grandmother to her 22 yo daughter on her graduation from College (U of Nebraska). My grandmother absolutely hated it and rarely talked about it. Oh, the year of the cruise? 1912. Same year as Titanic, but different ocean. Not everybody is a cruiser! Cheers!

What wonderful video right on money personally I have been on 312 cruises and line voyages from the SS United States to Grand Celebration in Feb 2020, I love your analysis you on go on regent to carnival I have never gotten sick on a cruise ship every time you walk around someone is always cleaning and yes i would to see how clean these people homes. NO one is going to force you to go but your missing out. I had a friend who loved touring like 5 countries in 7 days I talked her onto going on a river cruise she loved it unpacking once when your docked is downtown and all your meals but it's your life find adventure at any age. Oh and re the Titanic you know she was the middle sister the first one was the OLYMPIC served 26 years known as old reliable

Commenting on an old video, but RU-vid just recommended it to me today. I saw my first cruise ship in Port Canaveral in 1999 while at Kennedy space center. I was in awe; it looked so awesome. I didn't take my first cruise until 2003 when seeing Alaska from a warm cruise ship sounded like a great idea. From there, we were hooked.

Unsafe? It's safer on the cruise ships than living in NYC. lol

I watch your channel for a few days, but I already have seen many videos of yours and you helped me out with my huge fear of big boats, ships, cruises, etc. I still feel it, but when I see the way you have fun there, enjoy your time, and the amount of love you have for cruises it definitely helps me out./another part is that there aren`t many cabins underwater now and also the balconies, which really give you the hotel feeling, also the new and modern look of the cabins/. So in other words, my fear is reduced only when it comes to cruises mainly :D but this is a big win for me. No surprise to anyone, but Titanic.. this movie wrecked me, when it came out I was only 5 years old, probably saw it when I was 7, it was my favorite movie for AGES, even tho I cried my eyes out every time and scared me for life. Terrified, I`ve been after Titanic, but then it wasn`t enough, I had to watch Ghost ship, Poseidon Adventure, and Triangle, I was getting goosebumps every time I thought about cruises, your channel tho, it really made me change my mind. Also after seeing the new cabins and the balconies, I don`t think I will feel that claustrophobic there, they look pretty cozy and modern, the other thing you made me realize is that they stop every or every second day at different ports and you can explore many places while being on a cruise, my mind after seeing your videos is 🤯That sums it up 😁Thank you~

I have LOVED cruising since my first one for my honeymoon at 28. My son has been cruising since he was 4, he is now 8. When people comment on culture? We take our son on walking tours, historical tours, and the like. He LOVES cruising! He meets people on board (crew) and we talk to them about their homes and what things are like there.

My son went on a cruise and told me that if you like being around a lot of people it would be great, but he doesn't like being around a lot of people. I asked him what the Hell did he think it would be like? LOL

Horses for courses. Lying on a sun lounger around a crowed hotel pool looking every bit like a row of sardines is not for me , but it’s an ideal holiday for many, I don’t feel the need to trash such a holiday so I cant quite understand why people feel the need to trash your holidays.

I have only been on river cruises and loved them but by and large had no desire to go on an ocean cruise. I have watched your videos for ages and have seriously decided to try a western European trip because of them. Somehow RU-vid started recommding your Videos to me and your passion for the subject is catching. Personally I would never go on an ocean cruise, though my parents love it. Each to their own but you must also then live with the fact that your choice of holiday has negative outputs. Environmentally but also socially. For many ports cruise ships are not overall a positive. Instead of spending money in the local economy, cruise ship passengers have almost all their needs met on ship and the Profits go to these large companies that then use tax saving schemes to their undue advantage. And to me, you cannot experience a country if you see it for 1 day or 2. Cruise ships are a sanitised way to see the World. That is why it appeals to many and I don't begrudge the passengers for it BUT the Expansion of cruise holidays in the last decade or so, is not without its problems. Cruise ships need to do more for CSR and pay higher fees in ports to give back to the places they exploit as photostop Highlights

Love how people have so many opinions of something they not only no nothing about but have never even tried. Love your videos, Emma! What is the best way to find a cruise for someone who's never been on a cruise? I've only been on one, with my mom, years ago, but once I got past the seasickness (hugely seasick until our cabin steward brought me bonine), I enjoyed it! I'd love to get my husband on one, but he's scared he'll be too sick if he can't see the shore. I think he's got some sort of 18th century pirate ship sailing past the Horn of Africa in his head, but I think he'd enjoy the right cruise. How to find the right cruise for newbies!

Some people are just not happy, even on vacation surrounded by nice people all having a great time!

Spot on Emma. Started cruising in 1972. Sailing on these ships to far away destinations enables people to have a taster of exotic locations and to return to these places for longer periods in the future. Future cruise vessels will be running on LNG which brings down pollution dramatically. For the people who've never tried it; just give it a go. You can be as busy or quiet as you wish on a ship. This type of thing always reminds me of the adage, 'You can't please all the people all of the time, etc....' For people like me who are new to cruising and looking for help choosing we are very grateful to you and other cruise channels. TY!

My biggest problem is that cruise ships let the sewage of thousands of people into the ocean day in and day out

I'm not sure why anyone would think that cruising today is like traveling on the Titanic over 100 years ago. Ships back then were divided by class. You had to stay in your part of the ship. If you were in third class, you didn't have access to any of the amenities that first class passengers had. Cruise ships for the most part have all facilities open to all passengers. Even if you're in an inside cabin, you're still going to be able to go to the same restaurants, see the same shows, and do the same activities as someone in the most expensive suite on the ship. In terms of the on-board experience alone, I think that's the biggest difference between cruising today, and traveling on ocean liners in the 20th century.

I went on my first cruise in 2005 and when we got back home, the first thing we did was contact the travel agent to book a cruise in 2006. It has been my experience that peeps who object to cruising have never been on a cruise. Cant wait until 2022 and our June cruise to the British Isles

My wife and I cruise from PNO Australia until last year when this situation arose in Sydney but we cruise out of the Port of Brisbane and have never had a bad experience on any of the cruise ships that we have cruised on in Australia. I saw one of the Quantum class ship float through a field once... Interesting experience. You should follow one of the new ships when just built going from the Meyerwerf to the North Sea. Its interesting and fun to see.

Up until early 2000s cruises would have been a big NO! Not for me, too staid and proper. Then was recommended Ocean Village, tried it and was converted. Had cruises with OV, RC, MSC that were fun and relaxing. Chose to go Cunard on QE and loved it! Bought Tux and couple of bow ties from M&S in sale for £60! Loved it. So much choice. Fun ships for families, more formal ships if you want quieter. Different port every day, great sampler for a weeks holiday, been back to several places for holiday. Would also love to relax on a repositioning cruise. Spoken to crew who lived in cabins similar to ours, who told us they missed family but earned a lot more money than they could ever dream of earning at home. Last cruise (RC) I went on as disabled following a spinal injury, it was a world of problems away from the resort holidays of previous two years! So well looked after. Cruises aren't for everyone, you don't have to go on one if you don't wish to. Definitely cruising was not for me! Until I tried it.

Ok, so my grandma and grandpa loved cruising. When I was born, my grandparents were relatively young. They won a “youngest grandparents” contest on a cruise once!

The Titanic is the reason why sailing/cruising today is SOOO much safer! There were so many things that could have been done to prevent the loss of so many lives but were seen as "unnecessary" since she was deemed as being "unsinkable". If ships back then had been required to do something as simple as maintaining radio communications at all times, then ships nearby would have been able to come to her aid much more quickly than The Carpathia.
