REACTING TO DIR EN GREY!!! 

Dir en Grey is one of those bands that you have to look at beyond the image. When you see them, it's easy to dismiss them as an insane group of people and move on. Once you make the decision to give them a chance, you see they have much more to offer. I recommend listening to the songs by themselves, don't look at any videos or live performances, just focus on the music, you won't regret it.

Dir En Greys song Obscure has a really deep meaning to it. The song is pretty much about people who have sex without protection, and ending up aborting their babys. For example when you see the women rip off the babys head off the tree and eat it, it is pretty much saying your killing your baby.

Obscure is about abortion from the baby's perspective.

"1997? that's almost 30 years" XDDD close enough... oh and its pronounced "visual kay" like in okay, since the word "kei" has it's origins in the japanese language and stands for "system" (has nothing to do with a key in the english language)

I remember listening to Dir En Grey for the first time, and seeing the videos holy hell I was blown away, and at that time I thought Marilyn Manson was crazy. My Mom called them the devil's music, and my friends couldn't believe I would listen to that kind of music because I was a girl... ahh those were the good old days

it's funny how the Dir en grey fandom almost always doesn't try to appeal the band to others by showing them songs that have an easier message to them. No, it's always what song will shock the most that they request, so that the unworthy will jump of the ship immediately. Dir en grey has a long history and has experimented with their sound and style a lot. I would definetely suggest you to take another look.

Never actually got into them tho, but the other day I decided to finally give them a shot and I fucking loved it! Obscure was the first video I ever saw too. I didn't blink the whole time, I was really shocked too. But I rewatched it and showed my friends =P I saw them live two years ago and the show was amazing.

Their concerts are not as messed up as you might think. Only the singer is puking and spitting and hitting himself with the microphon but the rest of them is pretty decent on the stage. They tend to use videos rarely on stage. You can trust me on that cause I if seen them on stage for over 10 years now ^^'

Dir en Grey are by far my favorite band. I got here by accident, but when I saw you were watching the PV for Obscure, I was like "He's going to be scarred for life". looool Their live concerts are actually nowhere near their music videos, trust me! You should definitely watch some of their lives, because they sound near, if not completely, perfect~ Kyo's vocals are absolutely insane, as you can tell from both of these videos, especially Uroko. That head voice, man

In Dir En Grey's name the En is pronounced like the word in...I am so sorry you saw "Obscure" first. I can relate to how you felt, I was completely shocked when I saw the video for obscure a few years back, but now I love Dir En Grey. Although the visuals in their vidos can be weird and shocking that is one thing that makes them so great, they are different than any other band I have seen and I love it! Buck-Tick is an awesome band you should review they formed in 1983 and their song "Dress" was used for the anime Trinity Blood the video is can be hard to find though."Romance" is also an awesome song. Kiryu and X Japan are good bands too. I hope this helps. :)

Ryan you really should give them another look. This video gives them no justice really. They are really very good. This video is just for shock value. Dir en grey is very experimental and progressive. The songs Glass skin, macobre, Ain't afraid to die, so many really wonderful songs. Watching this first video makes people not want to go any further with the band. But, they really are very good. You would be missing out on a wonderful band

This song was about child abortion. Shows how disgusting and horrifying murdering a child is. It's a message especially towards people having sex for pleasure and ends up having unwanted kids. Dir en grey's concept as a band is to express "pain". Both physically and mentally.

I half of me wanted you to watch Dir En Grey but the other half of me was really hoping you wouldn't. Hope we haven't scarred you for life. Dir En Grey makes amazing music plugged and unplugged but it's the videos you have to be careful with.

I remember watching Obscure PV uncensored while casually eating a Guacamole Bacon Six Dollar Burger when my brother and his friends came back from school. The sight of this scene made my brother's friend immediately run to the toilet and vomit.

Hey Mac the reason the music video is like this it's about abortion and rape because if you pay attention to the props you see baby heads. Dir en grey has toned down since this song and video came out. The messages are still harsh but most there videos and songs are beautifully done. This wasn't the bast video to get into the band with I would have done cage then easie your way to the more metel like songs. I never had an issue because I grew up with Manson so this was nothing. BTW it's called Dir An Grey and it's visual KaI just in case you do another reaction video to other bands .

The best part about this band is that they have never, ever made a song that sounds like another they made before, or more likely, every song that they have written is something that has never been made. Some of the videos are really fucked up, but you have to look past that. Reading the lyrics reall makes you think, since even if you know the language, you might not undestand the true meaning.You can't get a good image of the band from just listening to one or two of their songs, you have to listen to them all. I have been listening to Dir En Grey since 2006, I have a tattoo of them on my arm, and there is no band that can do it better than them for me!
