I HIGHLY recommend a full discography listen. Their intros are always amazing, and their b-sides cover all the genres. Everything from more rock to jazz, edm, trap, trance, funk, reggae, ballads, and more, and it's all between good and absolutely amazing.
Well, well, well. Hi there! Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
hi!! I love when the guitar goes full gear!! and i've noticed especially you have been blessing me with these informations and i really appreciate that!
The imagery in the video is from the American horror movie 'Us' which is about a small seaside town that has a group of shapeshifters living in tunnels beneath it. A family goes there for a vacation and starts to notice that the townspeople are disappearing then reappear seeming slightly different. They've been replaced. Then it starts happening to the family. The MV combines that imagery with the theme of obsessive love, a theme which is fairly common in Dreamcatcher songs. The love object is turned into a doll or a puppet controlled by the obsessed lover. The gestures (crossed arms above the head with spread fingers) in the dance form the shape of the Chinese character for sadness, BE.
@@teggy3everything means something, there are no coincidence’s, this story goes deeper than anything you can imagine. Enjoy, you’re in for a wild ride.
