As a bonafide Godzilla junkie (complete with $2k in Godzilla tattoos), the references in this battle were absolutely not the casual, wiki-researched material I was expecting. There were some DEEP cuts. The “ass-brain” line was a reference to Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 where they tried to kill him by destroying a secondary brain in the lower spine. The “you didn’t get cooler in the 90’s” was partly a reference to the ‘98 film (as evidenced by the Ferris Bueller bar) but was ALSO a reference to Godzilla vs Destoroyah in ‘94 where he died by melting down (supported by the “destroy ya” line). The “recycled crap like All Monsters Attack” might have been the deepest cut though. Also called “Godzilla’s Revenge”, it was probably the weakest entry because of Minilla but ALSO because of the heavy use of stock footage. This battle was 100% written by another lifelong Godzilla fan, there’s no doubt in my mind.

"here's your sign" is a reference to Bill Engvall's comedy routine where he gets stuck talking to stupid people and thinks they should have a sign around their neck that says "I'm stupid" so you know what you're getting into before you start talking to them, and then provides examples of such interactions, ending with "here's your sign"

The Bryan Cranston line was a reference to the 2014 movie. He was basically hyped up like he was the star of the movie because he was so popular at the time, but he ended up dying about 30 minutes in

The "They left your balls on the cutting room floor" bar is a reference to the RU-vidr Goji Center's video "Do Godzilla and Kong have balls?" that a meme spawned from ("No Dick, No Balls, and probably no butthole either since this guy feeds on radiation") The "You're the only Honda Vehicle that don't retain no worth" bar is a reference to Ishiro Honda, the director of the first Godzilla film in 1954 (as well as many others throughout the 60's and 70's)...and also yes, Honda cars lol. And finally, "And just like Bryan Cranston you've been dead since the first act" is a reference to Godzilla (2014), where...yeah Bryan Cranston played a character named Joe Brody and he died in the first act despite being heavily featured in the ad campaign for that movie to get asses in seats.

You see when Nintendo first released the Donkey Kong arcade game, Universal Studios (King Kong's "owners") tried to sue Nintendo for copyright infringement on King Kong's name. Not only did Nintendo win the lawsuit, but they also showed that King Kong was in public domain, meaning that Universal never owned King Kong in the first place. It was so bad that even the Judge for the case questioned Universal on why they thought the lawsuit was a good idea. The verse is Godzilla basically saying that King Kong is such a joke that Nintendo made him their bitch, crazy verse of Godzilla's part Fr🔥🔥

The Nintendo bar was in reference to how Universal tried to sue Nintendo due to the character Donkey Kong, because Universal felt they owned the name "Kong" or something like that. And not only did they lose the lawsuit against Nintendo, they ended up having to pay a large sum of money to Nintendo in the end. The whole "Hollywood left your balls on the cutting room floor." could have two meanings. The first being that in the Japanese films, they made no effort to hide the fact that Godzilla was a product of nuclear war, mainly when the US bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Though in the American made movie of 1998, they rather downplayed that detail...like they didn't have the balls to call themselves out in such a way. Though, also in that movie, they made Godzilla a female that could reproduce asexually and one of the whole points of the movie was Godzilla came to the city to find a safe place to lay her eggs. With Pacific Rim, the first movie did rather well but most people would agree that Pacific Rim 2 was a massive flop that failed hard. Minilla (Mini Godzilla) was the name of Godzilla's baby/son he had in one of the earlier Japanese films. For the Brian Cranston line, In the Godzilla remake, probably one of the biggest named actors in the movie was Brian Cranston and they killed him off early on in the first act of the movie after making it seem like he was going to have a much bigger role.

More lines backfire on Kong than Godzilla. Godzilla tagging in for Frankenstein was from King Kong vs Godzilla '62. It was Toho's 10th anniversary & thought King Kong vs Frankenstein wouldn't be big enough. Result: Godzilla is now the longest running franchise in cinema history. Kong tried to come back, but Universal AGAIN messed that up for themselves. Currently, the MonsterVerse can use Kong so long as they do not refer to him as King Kong. The Godzilla Anime (Films & Series) did better than Kong's. AND Godzilla latest solo feature (Minus One) is considered one of the best films ever made, period. The only non-solo movies he's had are King Kong vs. Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Kong (also the new one coming out this year), where Kong himself helped boost sales frankly. Meanwhile Godzilla's had movies with lots of other popular monsters featured in the titles (as 'versus' movies) and posters: Anguirus, Mothra (multiple times), Rodan, Jet Jaguar, Megalon, Gigan, Titanosaurus, King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Destoroyah, Megaguirus... the list goes on. Kong has had more solo films overall, but he also hasn't been milked anywhere near as much as Godzilla lol

King Kong vs Godzilla is the 3rd in the series, the first Godzilla movie in color and essentially jump-started the franchise as we know it by setting the tone for the series up until the first reboot in 1983. And after Godzilla: King of The Monsters (2019) did sub-optimally, Godzilla vs Kong brought the Monsterverse back from the brink of cancellation by outperforming the other films in the franchise once again. So Kong's line about nursing films back to health does have some weight to it, Kong was there before Godzilla and he's been there for Godzilla twice now in two extremely pivotal moments in the franchise's history.
