You might already know this but one member from Shinee has left this world and he used to be very close to IU since their trainee days. His name is Jonghyun and he was the person who wrote the song gloomy click on IU's modern times album, which you already did a listen to. This episode also hits in the feels because of this as well.

SHINee's friendship with IU mostly goes back to Jonghyun, SHINee's late main vocalist, being really close friends with her and even wrote songs for her (Gloomy Clock on her Modern Times album). It's nice to see them together again after such a long time, even if it's a bit bittersweet without Jonghyun Also the one who you keep praising for his voice is Taemin, the youngest of the group and actually the main dancer :D He is also known as one of the most impressive soloists in south korea

And yes, Onew [the leader] is ridiculous. He's so versatile he can do any genre from rock to opera. Onew is one of the most, if not the most, iconic voice in Kpop. A lot of people associate his voice with SHINee's sound. Thanks for the reaction. Enjoyed it a lot 😊😊

SHINee is a legendary 2nd gen group and are known as the Princess of KPOP. They are indeed a vocal powerhouse with heavenly harmonies and they almost always sing live because they sound so much better than their CDs. All 5 of them are prominent vocalists (each with their own solo works) and they have two of the best vocalists in the industry (Jonghyun and Onew) The group also has KPOP's dancing king/ Korean Micheal Jackson (Taemin), the all rounder, Almighty fashionista (Key) and also award-winning actor (Minho). They are well respected and well-loved in the industry and has been hailed as the most precious group not only because they are super talented, but also because they are always humble, respectful and very supportive of other artists and staff. They have some of the most heartwarming relationships with artists like IU, Lee Hi, BOA, Girls Generation, TVXQ, Super Junior and EXO.

You can really see that live is their thing, I think I've rarely heard a band sing so well live, their voices are magnificent, pure, sublime, crystalline, a real pleasure for the ears. ❤++ONEW++ ❤

This episode was a collaboration of giants and it was an honour to have witnessed it. It's not an easy feat to survive and remain top acts for 14 years in their industry.

Although they didn't mention Jonghyun , we know why they chose to sing Dear Name. I remember IU spending a lot of time at the awards ceremony expressing regret at his death.

I just got into K-pop through IU (honestly best place to start) and so before this episode I didn’t really know who SHINee was. From the beginning I just loved their chemistry together! They were having so much fun. IU has the power of creating the most comfortable environments and get people talking. But when she started singing Sherlock i swear to god my mouth fell open!! This jazzy version of Sherlock remains my favorite topping the original. It sounds like butter in my ears, I cannot get over it. Just the same happened to dear name SHINees ver. I already knew the song so I was kinda skeptical someone would get even close to how IU performs it and conveys her emotions. But man, for the first time I cried listening to dear name. I knew about the 5th member and how IU and him were friends, so it hit a lot harder having all 5 friends singing they would never forget his name. And the vocals!!! I’m convinced no Western male singer has made me feel what I felt as I listened to them sing. I haven’t been able to forget those two performances for weeks now and I seem to always come back to them. Cannot listen to any version of dear name anymore without crying hahaha

Minho is a excellent actor and has been in the most dramas of all of them. Minho is also the biggest SHINee fan of all. Attends other SHINee members solo events. Key's bickering buddy, and Taemin's big brother, very loving and supportive. Would give Taemin the moon if possible. Solo MV to check out: "Home". Couldn't sing at debut due to immature vocal cords and was tutored by Onew & Jonghyun, two of the best vocalists in Kpop. Started learning how to dance at 10, auditioned with SM at 11/12, debuted with them as main dancer at 14. One of the very best dancers in Kpop & legendary for same, as well as vocal abilities; a true performance artist unlike any other (not just my opinion). He could also rap quite well and I think the 3rd best of the group (as they all can rap). Prolific songwriter (wrote over 40% of SHINee's songs, and songs for other artists. Could play several instruments (including being quite talented with the Kazoo); musical genius; Book author. Jonghyun wore his heart on his sleeve and thought very deeply about things. He was most often the one who cried the easiest, especially during moving performances. He also cared deeply about people and social issues. Jonghyun and Taemin knew each other before meeting the other SHINee members, as they were trainees together before being assigned to the group. As such, elder JH took Taemin under his wing and became, as JH put it, "Taemin's 2nd. mother". He was very protective of Taemin. JH also designated himself as Taemin's fan club president, attended Taemin's concerts, even delaying his own concert by 2 days just so he could attend Taemin's 1st solo concert with Onew. He was so proud of Taemin's singing growth and hardwork. Sadly, we lost Jonghyun to his life-long battle with chronic depression in 2017. She calls them Sunbae not Sunbenim because they debuted May 2008 and she debuted in September 2008 some of them are older and Taemin is the same age, there were three young kids in Kpop in 2008, Taemin youngest then IU and Minhwan of Ft island.

The reason why IU asked if it was hard for SHINee to sing Dear Name was because she made that song for her friends she had lost, including one member of SHINee who passed away in 2017, Jonghyun.

IU is Kpop royalty. I've seen actors fanboy over her. And the fact that Palette can attract top tier acts like SHINee is saying something about the show's influence. This might not be a tv show but it is produced with the highest quality. And SHINee's rendition of Kind here had better audio mixing than Music Core.
