There is something about SHINee that is comforting and heartwarming. I feel like even when they will be gone for a long hiatus, they will always come back strong and appreciated by fans and non fans because of their musical style and overall appeal.
IU is really good friends with Jonghyun and the fact that the rest has worked with IU before helped build that fun, familiar chemistry. Plus, second generation idols/groups are very close to one another (SUJU, SHINee, 2PM, Highlight, Big Bang, SNSD, T-ARA, Ft Island, F(x), Infinite etc). Key mentioned in the recent MMTG interview, back then, in music shows, idols and groups used to spend time each other's changing rooms, playing games, chilling and providing feedback to one another. That's why variety shows back then were so much fun because people can see the fun, close and unrestrained relationships between idols/groups, both male and female. Its a little unfortunate that the practice did not carry through the third and fourth generations.
Solo side of Taemin is very serious and hardworking artist. But Taemin in SHINee is like baby of SHINee brothers. He is always pampered and protected by SHINee hyungs. SHINee is like a family.5 members are so close. All of 5 them are fan of each other. If u watch lots of SHINee clips,u will understand how close they are. Likewise u said,SM artists are really underrated internationally. Their music and performances are all in the next level. Also they are really the trendsetters of kpop. I hope people should look out more about SM artists. IU and SHINee are gems of Kpop industry.In Korea,People respect IU and SHINee so much. Yes, IU is more popular in Korea.but SHINee is so popular in Japan. Apart from popularity, 2nd generation artists are so close. IU and Jonghyun are friends. Jonghyun gave one of his song to IU. You can really see that live is their thing, I think I've rarely heard a band sing so well live, their voices are magnificent, pure, sublime, crystalline, a real pleasure for the ears. ❤++ONEW++ ❤
When they were talking about abbreviations they didn't suddenly change topic to 'mistakes'... One of the abbreviation that ppl commonly use was that mistake - it's the short form of "Taemin was the only one who got it right" - it's used in circumstances where 'someone was actually right but ppl thought that person was wrong because everyone else did the wrong things together,but he did the right thing alone' 😆
Oooh that explains a lot; I was so confused the first time I watched this and thought IU has just suddenly switched to talking about some of Shinee's viral videos. Didn't realize that moment had become somewhat of a popular meme/abbreviation in SK.
Minho tends to actually repeat what other members previously mentioned. I guess he just wants to elaborate more? or just spits out the words he heard unconsciously? He was teased about this in another variety show 😁😆
Second generation groups are all really close no matter what company they are from because they spent a lot of time together on variety shows and music programs. They often would hang out together and are even paired up a lot of the time on variety shows and for music collaborations, etc. For example, 2PM is a second gen. JYP group who debuted a couple of months after SHINee, so 2PM and SHINee were often on variety shows and music programs together during their rookie days. And JYP and SM groups often worked together in different projects and TV programs back in the early days. The Kpop industry back then was much more of one big family. There wasn't as much of a division between companies as there is today. That's why a lot of members of second gen. groups have become known for being experts when it comes to the Kpop industry -- such as Key from SHINee and Heechul from SuJu, etc. -- because they were all part of one collective group and were all friends. Second gen groups actively follow each others' careers and route for each other and support one another because of that comradery and the fact that they went through it all together. Second gen. groups were all part of the beginning of what we know of as Kpop today, so they have a special bond because they were all making it up as they went, there wasn't an established way things were done yet. So they all were paving the way for each other. Fun fact: IU's song "Gloomy Clock" -- one of her older songs -- was wrote by Jonghyun. Jonghyun and IU were really good friends and when she heard "Gloomy Clock" she asked him to give it to her. Jonghyun always said that after hearing IU sing "Gloomy Clock" he knew the song was meant for her, and in hindsight he thinks he might have subconsciously wrote the song with her in mind. Because IU and Jonghyun were so close, that is why she was surprised that SHINee chose to sing "Dear Name" out of all of her songs, because she knows the deep meaning the lyrics have for all of them. If you pay attention to the lyrics of the song you will see why this song is so special to SHINee -- SHINee's version of the song is a dedication to Jonghyun. So the "Dear Name" they are talking about is Jonghyun. SHINee's version of "Dear Name" is different than IU's original version, so if you haven't heard the original version I encourage you to check it out. SHINee are known for their ballads and for their amazing harmonies, that is why they are so highly respected in the industry. Their live vocals are unmatched and everyone in the industry idolizes them for the amount of talent they have. As IU mentioned, even as rookies they were highly respected by their seniors and peers for their live vocal abilities and the fact that they sound even better live then they do recorded. SHINee live are on a whole other level. They are some of the best vocalists in the industry. And just think, Minho is the main rapper of the group. How often do you see a rapper that can sing as well as him? Onew is also known for his ability to hold notes for a very long time. He actually holds the record for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch -- 40+ seconds -- when he performed a cover of the song "Friend" in concert. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l5wJDyko5z8.html Oh man you are really missing out, you need to see SHINee perform "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" live at one of their concerts to really appreciate it. It's such a classic and the choreography is so intense. Check out their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in seoul performance. SHINee live is always 300 times better than the studio versions you hear in their MVs, and that's saying a lot, because their CD versions are already so great. As you discovered with "Kind" when SHINee sings live, the song sounds much different than the studio version. That's why SHINee live is so special. Seeing as Key was discharged from the military in October and Minho was discharged in November, and SHINee's comeback was in February, that would mean they worked on everything for about 3 months before they started promotions for their Don't Call Me album, which is a relatively short period. However, just look how busy Taemin was during this time as well. He was promoting SuperM's Super One album -- "100," "Tiger Inside," and "One (Monster & Infinity)," etc. -- and touring with SuperM, while he was also working on his Never Gonna Dance Again trilogy of albums -- "2 Kids," "Criminal," "Idea" and "Think of You," etc. And then, even before he was done with promotions for "Idea", he started working on SHINee's "Don't Call Me" comeback. And then while promoting with SHINee he also was working on SuperM's new song and MV "We Do" and he just recorded his first solo OST for the K-Drama Navillea, all while preparing for SHINee's repackaged album comeback "Atlantis". And in between all of that, he was planning and rehearsing for SHINee's Beyond Live concert. He also has a solo Japanese comeback next month, as well as a Beyond Live solo concert, and I wouldn't be surprised if SHINee was also working on their Japanese comeback. (With almost every Korean album and comeback SHINee usually follows it up with a Japanese album and comeback.) As I am sure you are aware, Taemin's push to cram so much into this past year and a half I think is all in preparation for the fact that he will be enlisting in the military soon -- he just announced he will be leaving May 31 -- and he will be on hiatus for 18 months as he completes is duties to his country. Which will actually force him to take a break and he might even get some rest. LOL

You need to be in Korea to see SHINee popularity there,, if you see Koreans reacting to SHINee or variety shows or any random person interview who know anything about K-pop they all know SHINee as the comment of one non-fan "The Most Popular Legend Idol Group" All their songs are well known examples be it Replay,RingDingDong,Julliete,Love like oxygen,Lucifer, Dream girl ,Everybody,Sherlock,An encore,Selene 6.23,Aside and View and now Don't Call Me,, But they are even more Popular in Japan ,, The Japan loves SHINee I will say A little more than Korea but all in all they are most popular active 2nd Gen boygroup in Korea rightnow
Are they more popular than Super Junior in Korea? Just curious. I notice they are also very active amongst the older groups. It's such a pity that Shinee won't be active as OT5 due to Taemin's enlistment. But it is what it is.
IU is close friends with Jonghyun. Once, Jonghyun asked IU for her opinion to a song he wrote, when IU read/heard of it, she asked Jonghyun to give the song to her. It is now IU's 'Gloomy Clock'.. very beautiful song too.. Since they are both composers, they connect well with their craft
You are right, they are very close and a real family. They are hilarious and chaotic guys, and it's so heart-warming to witness. So it is a pity to hear you say you don't have time to do any reactions to these kind of interactions. You should at least do a couple (maybe select 3 or 4 to do in one reaction), because you will see more of their individual personalities. From your comments, you are already getting hints of their personalities, eg Key's directness and sassiness, Minho's kindness and warmth, Taemin's duality and mischievous teasing of the others, Onew's cute naivety as leader. And btw, they were actually "subdued" and quiet here; they're usually a loud, funny mess.
i really liked this reaction! from what I can tell when they talk about abbreviations in Korean, they take the first syllable of every word in a phrase, so it would sound like words to ppl who don't speak Korean. Like SHINee's song Amigo for example! it's A.Mi.Go, which is short for (A)reumdaun (Mi)nyeoreul johahamyeon (Go)saenghanda; lit. If you like beauty, you suffer; it has nothing to do with the Spanish word amigo.
I really liked your compliments of SHINee especially Key... I see that alot of people don't comment on his beautiful voice. If you could react to some of his solo songs. I don't know if you know that Key will be doing second solo in July, so it would be nice if you could check out his stuff. Some songs I recommend from him is Imagine he performed it at the Ring when they did Marry You performance. I recommend his song One of Those Nights, Cold. Why Are You Here?, and Chemicals. His album is really good. I don't feel I have to say for you to check out Onew's album cause it's good too!
Actually IU has two upcoming movies Dream which is almost done and Broker which started filming like a week ago, it also has a lot crazy big names in it Koreeda is directing it. Exciting times ahead for actress IU.
stupid long comment about future SHINee albums incoming: SHINee's release schedule isn't quite stable yet--the break they took was for onminkey to do their military service as taemin released solo music, they all got together to do a full album and a repackage, and taemin's out of the industry for the next couple years after he releases a solo album in may (the enlistment curse of the boy groups, oof) but the other members are all planning on solo work (onew/key are definitely doing their second solo albums, minho's doing drama roles and hopefully more music at some point maybe) in the interim. _hopefully_ once taemin is freed from the military-industrial complex their releases will restabilize to the insane rate kpop is known for! this'll be in November of next year, so we can probably expect lots of shinee activity a few months from then.
