I have a LOT of respect for Wolf! He's not big headed and saying, "I'm Eddie Van Halen's son"! He's all about, "This is me, my music! Van Halen is my name"! Hell, he played bass for Van Halen, I say let the man shine his own torch, Eddie is smiling from heaven! Wolfgang is AWESOME! P E R I O D ! !
I am really glad he has found his own style and place in music.....he seems like a really cool guy with even having one heck of a famous shadow to live with.
They really crushed that, damn. Jerry looked up to Eddie as an artist and influence, and eventually a friend so I'm sure he's got to feel honored to see Wolf playing his music now!
I was never into Van Halen for the longest time. I don't know why. Now I crank "Ain't Talking bout Love' whenever I'm driving. That Them Bones harmony is so elusively tough to get right.
I sing in a classical choir of 8 different voice groups.. We often have harmonies with more than 10 individual notes. This is completely regular for choirs, and have been so for centuries. A simple 2 note vocal "chord" (which can't even be referred to as a harmony, since you need 3 notes to create a harmony) ... - Long story short, Layne and Jerry can sing that A and D in their sleep, as can any other chorister.
So much to love about this video. First the excellence of the band paying true homage to another great band. Second the insightful analysis. You nailed it dude. Talk about on point. Yes sir! I'm subscribing.
I really like Wolfie. Haven’t seen or heard anything I didn’t like of his. His band is really good, love his personality, he’s also got great taste, and that he is just moving forward and becoming a legend in the making.
I’ve seen Mammoth several times. Simply amazing! I won’t miss a show of theirs. Wolf is one of the most talented people I’ve seen. I’m 66, and have been a DJ since 80. Met his dad a couple times, and he is just as talented as Eddie, if not better. Wolf could play Eruption at 15 years old. He plays every instrument on his albums, but his favorite is the drums. His uncle Alex taught him well!
Woflie’s got his dad’s chops, but he also nails the harmonies on every song I’ve heard him play. People sleep on how good Mike Anthony was in VH and how important to their sound he was, Wolfie can nail VH harmonies too.
I remember first hearing this song on one of the old Offroad Fury games when I was a wee lad. Also just need to listen to Mammoth more since I just love this type of music. Listened to their stuff after Wolf's interview with Ola, but I also just don't go out and listen to new music anymore really... sadge.
Was waiting to see the new "shredder" semi-hollow body EVH. Aww, what a shame that Wolfie has EVH genetics...sarcasm of course! I'd be surprised if he didn't have the King's influence. The crowd was into it! Good analysis!
I want to see Wolf do the Dime Bag part with Pantera! In a weird way I think he is the only guitar player who makes any sense in that band given the relationships he would probably have been adopted into the Abbott family if Vinnie and Dime were still around and I think the kid could pull it off given the ease with which he seems to play anything he puts his mind to.
"Jerry Cantrell would rather people not try and sound like him but sound like themselves." There are "No Excuses" for ruining my favorite Alice In Chains song. "I Stay Away" from Wolfgang's music as much as I can.
