Gotta say I agree with the Tigers hot take. They had 0 star talent last year and finished just shy of 80 (77) wins with just solid players. Adding 2 star players (potentially more) as well as getting Matt Manning in a 2nd year and 2 guys in Riley Greene/Spencer Torkelson coming up, this team in a very weak AL Central should compete for the division! White Sox will still likely win, but do not sleep on the Tigers!
@@oliverallen1402 personally there is no doubt Baez is a star, arguably a superstar but I say star imo. I could definitely understand someone having doubts on Rodriguez though. Looking into his analytics I think he is going to be a consistent sub 3.5 pitcher for a good time coming. I would personally regard that as a star pitcher
@@oliverallen1402 2020 was a 60 game season and many superstars/stars were horrible, especially on the Cubs. His OPS+ in last season, a full and normal MLB season was 117, which is dang good for a SS. Last season Baez had a 4.5 WAR. He has been approx a 5 WAR in any full season over the past 5 seasons, that’s easily top 10 of SS, therefore a star.
Also Oliver, a career .270 power hitting SS with speed who is an excellent gold glove winning defender is a star on paper, in case you think WAR is too analytical.
This was a really great video. I can't quite put my finger on why but it just breezed by. I think it was a mix between the pacing and direct answers but I could watch an episode of this every week.
Kelenic tinkered quite a bit over the back half of last season and ended up slugging pretty okay in the last two months. He's already got some stuff figured out, so it's just a matter of retaining what he learned last year.
Sell. Do remember the Pirates and Rockies exist and the Nationals (and to a lesser extent Cubs) have just started a rebuild. Factor in stealing a game here and there against the heavies of the league, and the Reds will win around 70 games. The Pirates on the other hand...
Idk, Belli's swing seemed to look pretty good in the playoffs. Small sample size, but you have to feel that if he can carry that momentum he's due for a resurgence.
I mean I think he’ll have a way better year than he had in 2020 and 2021 but probably not a MVP year. Also for everybody saying the reason belli did bad in 2021 was because he sucked or some crap like that, you’re wrong. I don’t think anybody would swing well and have a MVP season after SHOULDER SURGERY and numerous other injuries.
Awesome video man, enjoy watching both of y’all so this was cool to see. Kelenic is one of my favorites on the M’s, so I would love to see him have a great year.
Can't find the hot take video but Marc, I remembered one hot take was "Twins biggest move will not be a pitcher." That was correct since Correa is now on the Twins
The only reason I don't think the Guardians will trade for Luis Castillo is because we have a way bigger problem at outfield and catcher. I could see maybe us trading for Tyler Stephenson, or possibly Bryan Reynolds.
Hot take Kris Bryant sights with the Phillies and has a 30+ home run season with a batting average over .270 The Phillies make the playoffs with Harper Bryant and wheeler leading the way.
Mark: “Yankees have bad pitching.” They only have Loaisiga, Cole, Montgomery, Nestor, Clay Holmes, Luis Severino. You know. But besides them, they’re bad 😂
The interesting thing about the Cardinals is that last year they had the second most valuable outfield in baseball by fWAR. Only behind Houston that is including Yordan as a outfielder fulltime. So I think you can make a very strong argument they had the best outfield last year. The only outfielders left that are potential game changers are Castellanos, Pham, Schwarber, Bryant, and Conforto. Of those players I would probably expect Bryant to play 3B, Castellanos and Schwarber to DH. So if say one of the top 5-6 outfields last year adds Pham or Conforto they would probably usurp the Cardinals, but that's it. Barring a Cedric Mullins, Bryan Reynolds, or Ramon Laureano trade.
Marc isn’t really used to being on camera without talking or at least interviewing, and he just looks very unsure what to do when he’s not talking. It’s so funny
I also think Cleveland is the current front runner to sign Nich Castellanos. Philly is trying to get Kris Bryant, blue jays are trying for Kyle Schwarber, Padres are front runners to sign Seiya, Marlins have pretty much dropped out and haven't showed interest, and the Guardians were linked to Nich earier today. He is best fit with Cleveland and will end up getting the most playing time their.
Dude judge came to my school cuz of the lockout for batting practice and we’re three minutes away from the minor league teams stadium, and we couldn’t take any pictures or share until now after the lockout
@Foolish Baseball I don't know about top 10 MVP voting for Kelenic but with a .200ish BABIP last year, a good hard hit %, and the shift (which wrecked him) going away I'm seeing HUGE improvement for Kelenic.
I'm going to say the Luis Robert MVP take is a massive sell. I still want him to do well (for trading card value lol) but I think Vladdy, Ohtani, Trout, and a few others like Semien are ahead of him for now. Edit: I realized immediately afterwards that I forgot to mention Matt Chapman, who will win MVP as a high 20's aged 3rd baseman the Blue Jays acquired from the Athletics (it worked for Josh Donaldson)
Mariners are rising fast.... they got a killer line up, Julio Rod is going to probably win RoY and possibly MVP, then add on their rookie pitcher, their second ace, Winker crushes Right handed pitching (best in MLB last yr) Haniger, Suarez leads the major league in home runs over the past 4 or 5 yrs, then add in Adam Frazier, Ty France, was one of the best hitters in baseball second half of the year last year, along with Ty .999 fielding % at 1st, Kyle lewis is coming back (RoY in 2020) Jared Kelenic got hot towards end of his 1st year, a young stud.. Also their bullpen is in top 5 in MLB possibly Top 3.
Love this collab! And I think if the White Sox can get either Conforto, Castellanos or Bryant (paired with Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert) they can fight for best outfield
Scary thing about the Blue Jays' rotation...these guys are absolutely right about how good that rotation can be....and they didn't even mention Ryu once. That's how good they are lol
This isnt basketball. Adding scherzer doesnt make degrom worse or have any lesser opportunities to play well. If anything it could make him even better with a veteran former cy young winner to give him advice.
5:52 I’m holding Foolish to this as a Cardinals fan. I want to hear who he believes is the best outfield on opening day if not the Cardinals. April 7, I’m marking my calendar. Just how he said it kinda angered me a bit like he’s so sure of it and he’s claiming that they won’t be the best by then and EVERYONE already knows it. I’m calling him out on it right now.
8:17 Also Marc picking the Brewers as the favorites to win the NL Central when the Cardinals exist and also have a good chance of winning the division, Brewers aren’t a bad choice but I wouldn’t say they’re absolutely the definite favorite to win it.
@@jimmycallinan9254 Good outfield, perhaps them if they can all stay healthy and if they all actually play substantial time in the outfield instead of mostly being DH’s
