Shohei strikes out a ton and doesn't walk. He's an absurd power hitter, but he's not Ted Williams. Yordan is a more complete hitter. Similar power but elite strikeout and walk rates. Shohei's obviously a better player though. I just think Yordan is a better hitter.
@@EldritchAugur shohei had better on base and slugging numbers through all of last year, than yordan has through this short stretch right now. Shohei i thought was pretty unanimously better. He had like twice as many walks as yordan last year.
Aaron Judge has cut down on the strike outs considerably he is a much more complete player now then he was in 2017 and 2018 so the argument that is made for his strikeout problems shouldn’t be an argument anymore period because the last 2 years are evidence that when healthy judge is an unstoppable hitter
I agree with this 100%. Its almost a casual take at this point to just blow Judge off as a one dimensional player. Trout and Ohtani are great in their own right but I don't see either one of them putting up the same stats as judge this year. Judge also has plus defense in center and elite in right we wont even discuss that. Not too many guys who are true 5 tools and then some like the Judge.
@@matthewoneal7291 these dudes just Yankee haters , othani strikes out way way more than judge & trout is great but defensively I give judge the edge over him
In terms of Robo umps, my biggest issue isn’t the human element but the fact that framing will no longer be needed for a catcher. Framing is such an underrated skill that really separates MLB catchers to very good defensive MLB catchers
14:43 You read the comment wrong, he said that robot umps are a no-go, meaning don't implement them, and I fully agree with him on that. Having the game in the hands of technology is pretty much a joke, Instead, just have designated home plate umpires instead of a rotation. And both things that were said by Eric about the KBO, and FivePointsvids about the analyzation, there are ways to figure it out before just getting rid of them, because I don't think that should even be a consideration.
Having the game in the hands of technology? Its not skynet. We have the technology to get accurate ball and strike calls. We should use it. Frankly I'm sick of bad umpires taking the at out of great hitters hands. Look at Judge. If the zone was called correctly, he would easily have 30+ fewer strikeouts a year. That's 30 at bats where he either gets walked, gets a hit or puts it in play for an out. Why hold on to the antiquated idea that human error needs to be a part of the game? Let the outcome be dictated by the players, not the home plate ump.
I don’t understand your point. We all see when a call is missed and nobody feels good about it when it seriously impacts the game. It’s not like the umps won’t be there at all they’ll just always be correct because they will have the correct answer fed into their ear. Baseball fans are so weird about change. Get with the times man change is a good thing, especially this. Ask Armando Gallaraga I’m sure he’d agree.
I think the ump should stay behind the catcher and call the game just like normal but if a catcher or batter wants to appeal the call they just point to the score board or wherever it would be displayed and there will be a call displayed up there based on how the robot saw it, or have someone up in the booth who essentially watches the game like everyone else does with the box on the screen and if someone makes that appeal, he'll be the one to display the ball/strike call on the score board. They essentially already do this anytime there is a check swing and the catcher can appeal down to the first or third base ump...same thing applies here essentially.
@@RhinoViper I thought this for awhile but I don’t think this is very fair to the hitters. You can’t have an umpire not calling the inside corner all game, and then have that suddenly be a strike for the most pivotal pitches of a game. Hitters and pitchers adjust to an umpire’s zone each game, those adjustments can’t just be erased when it really counts.
@@mattforbes221 This won't come out of the blue...if the pitch is close I imagine the catcher will appeal...he'll do this from inning 1 on....I imagine by inning 3 or 4 the actual ump will probably start calling them himself.
1) Judge gets bad strike calls from the umps because of his height, still hits for average and walks 2) Judge plays a really good center and a gold glove right field There’s no holes in judges game. Is he better than Trout, no. Is he a 5 tool player? Yes. Can he possibly have a better season than Trout and win mvp? Definitely a chance it happens
The judge take better have been said before last nights game man went 4 for 5 with 2 homers he is trying to prove these men wrong and fuzzy puts a lot of respect on him and judge is so good
Hot hot take: the Rockies aren’t stupid and understand that most Rockies fans don’t care about us being good and only go to the games to drink and watch a high scoring slug fest. Sincerely, a Rockies fan.
Hot take: Mookie Betts catches fire and him and Freddie Freeman finish top five in the NL MVP voting. And this preformance leads the dodgers to winning the World Series in 2022.
I have a hot take: Zac Gallen and Merril Kelly will end up being the second best pitching duo(obviously behind DeGrom and Scherzer) Hot take: Taylor Ward will end up top 5 in the MVP race
Gallen and Kelly are probably not top 5 duo. Even with both of the best duo out of commission they aren’t a top 2. If Taylor Ward can keep this up he will have the best offensive season of all time, so yeah I buy the second part.
Hot Take: The Braves will get 1st in the NL East this year. They will go on a hot streak in the second half of the year and beat the Mets in the last series. But eventually will lose to the Mets in the playoffs. From a Braves fan.
Braves getting hot is not a hot take lol, it's a long season so if they end up overtaking the Mets at some point, it's not that shocking. They're one of the most talented teams in the NL and are the freaking defending champs so definitely not a hot take.
@@franzreyes846 they're too talented on both ends and have good enough pitching to not be World Series contenders. I think a healthy Braves team has a better lineup than the Dodgers.
I never watched Bonds live, but Trout being talked ab as GOAT makes me question how good he really was, Bonds has always been this mythical ungodly numbers, while I've watched Trout my whole life and he has never seemed of that same caliber.
One thing Trout has going for him over Bonds is there wouldn't be as much controversy around labelling him as the goat. A lot of people (rightfully) think Bonds is the best ever and his numbers support that, but there are a handful of people who also think he's a disgrace. He didn't even get 75% votes to get in the hall of fame
@@Arden2000 Bonds' non-steroid numbers don't support that, if he had never done steroids, then maybe, but he did and his top 4-5 seasons are steroid seasons.
Eric hosmer begins to remember how to hit over the last few years of his contract (like what he’s doing right now), and although he will go down as an overpay, his contract won’t look nearly as horrible as it’s seemed at times from 2018 to 2021
That would make me very happy as a Royals lifetime fan. I’m glad we didn’t give him the money but I want him to do well I will always love Hosmer and the joy he brought me and my dad in that 2013-2016 era for the Royals
Did that guy just say the Yanks will win the NL East? And then follow that up by saying Judge is not a complete player and has a lot of holes in his game? Judge hits for average and power, has speed and runs the bases well, is a superb outfielder and has played CF this year, has a cannon of an arm, has an accurate arm, gets on base, etc..... What are the holes this man is referring to? Ridiculous statement
@@jamison9986 how abt the pirates if bryan Reynolds gets hurt?? Then the reds might pull ahead also rn theyre red hot so if they keep this up theyre good to go 💨
Hot Take: Cubs, Braves, and Giants make a three-team deal happen at the deadline sending Wilson Contreras to play for the Braves alongside his brother. Braves also get Doval from the Giants and send Ynoa along with a couple pitching prospects to the Cubs. The Giants also send a few prospects to the Cubs and walk away with D'Arnaud from the Braves, and Happ, Miley, and Robertson from the Cubs in return
In pro tennis, every tournament has computers that record where the ball lands with incredibly high detail and accuracy, on 130mph serves and passing shots with crazy spin. They are used when players challenge a call made by the chair or line umpire. Knowing this, I think something could be fine tuned for reading pitches in MLB.
It is going to be so satisfying when my predictions come true and Marc is sad about the Mets. When that happens I will expect an apology. Edit: Also I like DeGrom but he will never pitch a full season again.
2015 Marc: I told you the Mets would win the wor…….. 2016-2022 Marc: mark my words this year the Mets will win the World Series its gonna be different this year
I definitely don’t think robo umps should be implemented in the MLB. The solution should be to just fire people like Angel Hernandez and hire people that have proven they can umpire. Obviously no one’s perfect and there are gonna be wrong calls but those wrong calls can make the game even more interesting imo. Watching Jomboy break down clips of bad calls is really entertaining. But I do agree the amount of bad calls happening nowadays has gotten a bit out of hand and needs to be fixed.
Mike Trout is the G.O.A.T ? What??? Hey I guess Ruth, Ted, Mantle, Hank, Mays, Bonds, Rose and Joe.d don’t count sheesh 🙄 I thought y’all had knowledge on baseball ⚾️.
Im selling the Trout best player all time. With players like Hank Aaron, who is among the top 50 in almost every offensive stat, I think it's hard to say trout will be the best. I like trout a lot, I say he can finish top 10 but not 1.
I think the strike zone hud isn't always accurate. sometimes balls will cross the plate and it won't register it accurately. the plate has depth to it and the hud doesn't register for that.
Judge obviously leading the mvp race at this point in the season and yordan obviously is a better hitter than ohtani it’s just he doesn’t pitch or play defensive at all which makes ohtani a million times more valuable but just from a hitting standpoint he’s a better hitter
Hot take: after the umpires check the instant replay they shouldn't announce the results on a loudspeaker. A simple hand gesture is much more astedicly pleasing. This isn't the NFL.
Hot Take: the Mets make a late season run, Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso both finish in the top 10 in NL MVP voting and they make it all the way to the NL Championship series only to lose to the Dodgers in six games.
