"Run Devil Run" is definitely one of the BEST SNSD songs, period. "You Think" is one of VERY few SNSD songs that SM let Sunny use her deeper, less nasally cute voice... I really wish they had let her use her deeper register more. "Holiday" and "All Night" are probably in my top 10 favorite SNSD songs, but they are a little low-key sad, because those were the final 2 music videos that we got to see from them as OT8 before several of the girls left SM when contracts were up and whatnot. As far as more stuff to check out, "Catch Me If You Can" which is definitely a lot more bass-y and techno, THERE ARE TWO VERSIONS OF THIS SONG BTW!! One w/ Jessica that was recorded prior to her removal from the group, and one without. I would also recommend "Hoot" and "Into The New World."
Wasn't run devil run originally written/sang by Kesha but sm bought it? Edit: looked it up Kesha did not write it, however she did do the vocals for the original demo that was then sold to SM for SNSD

You Think is such an underrated song in their catalogue. I know it's quite distinct from a lot of their songs conceptually but man it needs appreciation.
You have to watch their reality shows. That is a huge way to get to know the girls. I highly suggest the Channel SNSD. It will help you learn more about the girls
Don't stress so much about learning the names, most of us have been following SNSD for years and we know who is who, but I know it can be very overwhelming for someone just starting to know them. Now my suggestions: Time Machine, Hoot, Dancing Queen, Love Girls and Holiday.

Actually, we enjoy the effort love how you get excited when you recognize them and it shows your heart knows Sunny, Hyo and Seohyun (maknae), but I love the pointing Taeyeon game as well XD (Taeyeon bias here)

2:20 That was Yoona (The center and the face of the group) She is the standard pitch of SNSD. Everytime they sing acapella they let Yoona sing first to set the pitch for them.
"Into the new world" is a must. it was their debut and is used all the time in Korea for stuff like pride parades if you are going to react to it u should listen to the ballad version. This was the first time they performed the song without Jessica. it was/is very emotional. Also, run devil run was originally supposed to be a Ke$ha song but it was sold to SM and given to SNSD. Can't wait til you get to their Japanese stuff, I personally think they are much better and more mystyle than Korean releases. Try "All my love is for you", "Time Machine" ballads, and then try Flower Power, Galaxy Supernova, and Paparazzi they all bops and a half.

Yeah "Run Devil Run" and "You Think" are also probably my fav SNSD songs. The first one you noticed in "RDR" with the bangs is Yoona who is mainly pursuing her career as a successful actress (and only recently opened her own RU-vid channel for their fans "Yoona's So Wonderful Day"). It would be fun/interesting if you could react to their debut song "Into the New World" (which was covered by Dreamcatcher when they debuted and now you understand why Dami is a SONE) and their newest song "Oh!GG". It's amazing how he still cant tell Seohyun. She never gets any drastic style change in their concepts and her voice definitely stood out in You Think.

This is often true, (I'm American/British white) but in the early days of SNSD, BEFORE they got western attention, it was South Koreans who first described Yuri Yoona and Seohyun as "the Bermuda Triangle" because THEY had a hard time telling them apart too (similar heights, same hair style, 'oval' faces). Yoona told the story that as she was going into SM , some fan called out to her that she was really pretty, but her friend said who is she? and the girl replied "Yuri". Yoona looked back in surprise and amusement, and then the fan said "No---it's Jessica!"
It depends on the group and names for me. I can tell there faces are different and what parts of there facial structures make them different but its hard to remember the names and then remember whos face they belong to. Like ive been a fan of GG since 2008 and I still dont know all there names but I do know all there faces. It is deffiently be ause you are Asian, I'm black and I can tell the difference between Idris Elba, Micheal B Jordan and Djimon Hansou instantly. Yet alot of my Asian and Hispanic friends can't tell them apart to save their lives hahahaha. I guess you grow up noticing features alot easier when you're surrounded. But a quick note, apart from Yuri and Sohyeon, I never had problems telling them all apart. And when they sang EVEN EASIER hahaha, they all sound different

I feel like if you watch reality shows (ex: either episodes from shows like knowing bros or running man, or just snsd focused series) you might be able to get their names better. In general I think it’s easier to learn about new groups by watching them on reality shows I like. You probably won’t be able to do reactions but if you have free time I would recommend that approach since it’s the easiest and fastest way to really dive into a kpop group

You should watch ITNW MV, they're debut song. Then watch the infamous OT8 version of ITNW from their concert in Japan. The one that made the whole dome cry. You have to watch them BACK TO BACK. 😉

Into the New World is their debut song and is without a doubt, probably their most impactful song. It was used in many protests for education, LGBTQ+, etc. rights. Every single girl group knows this song. I don’t think you’ll be able to recognize any of the members since they’re so young, though you might get Taeyeon. After Jessica left, they only sang the ballad version (which is beautiful), I guess because they don’t think singing their debut song without her was the same. I hope you check them out eventually, because SNSD started with that song.

The girl at 2.23 is YoonA, is sub vocal, 3rd rapper and dancer (she's more confident with this part than the vocal), and mainly the visual, center and face of the group, and she's actress, I remember you also said you like her voice in the reaction to The Boys, I like so much her voice too, but in many songs she has to change the tone to fit with the cute concept, like Gee🤔 I hope you keep watching another songs of the girls, I'm looking forward to your reaction to their debut song "Into the new world" 😊
'You Think' is also probably my favourite title track(?) from SNSD! I suggest girl groups like 9muses and KARA for more of your Throwback Thursdays! Sadly, they're no longer active and a lot more.. sad things to learn that happened with both groups. They were and are still ICONIC.

I think you'll also love All Night. It's more "sophisticated" than "girl crush" but it's one of their best songs and mv's! Hoot is one of my favorites of theirs as well, It's retro but with a pretty unique sound and i looove the choreo. Also Holiday!

You Think is I feel like one of SNSD's song with hard choreography because this one needs so much energy but you know what? Call me bias but they sang this song live so well when they were promoting wayback 2015. Especially Seohyun and Tiffany doing the "You Think" and "You're not" lines in the background. They're stable asf. And I think that's one of the reasons why people call them legends. They can sing their songs very well in live even with hard choreographies. If I remember correctly, "Run Devil Run" was originally Ke$ha's song, there is a demo of it leaked online somewhere. "You Think" was also originally by a western artist named SAARA, she helped write the song and there's a demo an english version too. 2nd Generation groups often had a tendency to change concepts and music styles like it's a costume, they didn't really stick to one look. You'll get a sexy song and then the next song will be super cute bubble gum pop. And Girls Generation is an excellent example of a group that did many concepts very well. They were like a chameleon.
