Oh man, Gee hit my extremely multicultural high school like a bulldozer when it first came out. Every talent quest had at least one dance troupe doing this and Shinee songs.

SM has this weird obsession with concepts and theories lol. Almost all of their artists has it and it goes through all their music videos. It's pretty cool actually to find those bits in their teasers and MVs. I enjoy it and discussing it with my kpop stan friends.

Since you've been going through SM artists, I think you'd love Super Junior-KRY (their ballad/vocal powerhouse sub-unit) and some of Super Junior's songs like Evanesce. I feel like you'd enjoy the quirkiness of the group especially with how experimental they are in their work. Also, definitely don't sleep on Shinee. The members are back together coz 2 of them finished their military service this year so Shawols (fanbase name) are expecting a comeback next year.

since nobody else seems to have said it, the girl you continue to point out is called hyoyeon! she’s snsds main dancer and has a solo career as a dj under the name DJ HYO edited this because i just remembered: you actually reacted to two of the most formative songs in snsds career, so to speak. gee, released 2009, two years after their debut, cemented them as THE gg of their generation and was named song of the decade by god knows how many people. gee, for the longest time, held the record for song with most consecutive music show wins. they got 9 wins on music bank, and earned a total of 14 wins for gee which is still a feat not topped by many. the boyz, on the other hand, marked an entirely different success for them. breaking into the us market as one of the first groups to do so aside, the boys won them the disk daesang at gda. their competition at the time were the biggest names in kpop: tvxq, revered kings of kpop in japan and korea alike, suju who set standards for bgs, i could go on. but the ones who won were snsd, and to this day they’re the only girl group to ever receive this award. this was the moment they became an unclimbable wall, a standard in kpop. so it’s really funny that you decided to react to these two songs specifically since the only other songs of theirs i can think of with similar impact on k-culture would be their debut, into the new world, and genie, which you already reacted to.

haha i get when u say GEE's gonna stuck in ur head cuz it happened to me back then, too. Nobody knew what 'gee' meant cuz it wasn't a korean word, but everybody was singing that addictive song when it first came out. this is can be TMI but the guy at Gee mv was Shinee's minho and since they are all in same company SM, sometimes they shows up at other group's MV. SNSD's sub unit TTS also has a MV that EXO's chanyeol appears, which is 'Twinkle'. that song is bop too :) it was a great video as always. have a nice day!

If you like vocals, you should probably watch their debut song at some point. It's so iconic to them and girl groups everywhere. I don't think you'll find a female idol out there who hasn't trained to or covered SNSD's debut "Into the New World". It is also commonly used as a protest anthem in korea because of it's message, so it means a lot to even the general public. They've also remixed it several times over the years and the ballad version is beautiful and lets them all show off in terms of vocals~ Also, they are still active! Every time they've been asked when they're coming back, the girls say they're waiting for the best timing. They might not be working as a group every year but all of them are committed to returning as 8 in the future, even the ones who've already left SM, stand by that they have not left the group>

Gee was the song that made Girls' Generation be more well known and won so many awards and S. Korea loved the song that the girls had to perform the song for a decade XD It's what got me into the group back then but not my favorite song. They became an iconic gg for 2nd gen and the girls' close bond is what made people love the group even more because it was natural and real. Despite the whole Jessica situation. Lion Heart is a cute concept but nice harmonies in it. Their japanese songs are amazing too and catchy. You may like those more than their Korean songs. Sunny also does a baby like voice because she revealed that the producers said her voice was "dull" and "boring." This hurt her confidence in using her natural voice.

The group is on hiatus since three of them left SM Ent to pursue their acting careers and solo debut in US (though they didn't leave the group), they are planning to have a comeback. TTS and Oh-GG are their sub units. Oh-GG (composed of those SNSD members who are still with SM Ent) TTS (Tiffany, Taeyeon and Seohyun) They are currently busy with their own careers individually. When I was in high-school my Japanese class did a whole dance practice about SNSD's Gee (in Japanese of course). You can't have kpop without the iconic SNSD! And yes their songs get stuck in your head for a veryyyy long time.

Gee is the first K-pop song I ever heard, and also the first one I listened to more than 10 times. I can say without a doubt that it got me into K-pop 💯. Iconic really is the word. The Boyz, Mr Taxi and Catch me if you can are all of the same kind and I really love them as well. Paparazzi as well is amazing but quite different from those 3.
