Reacting to *Percy Jackson and the Olympians* Episode 1 

I’m so happy with how the show turned out! It gives that fun fantasy nostalgic feeling of the books. Also the casting choice for young Percy is absolutely perfect. I literally thought the actors must’ve been brothers before I looked it up!

Between One Piece, Avatar the Last Airbender and Percy Jackson, it's been a fun time for fans all around.

I never read the books, but I plan to once I finish my annual run through Harry Potter (on Prisoner right now)! Even without reading them, though, after watching this series (and a few reactors that explained a few things, like the significance of the blue candy), I thought it was fantastic, very well executed, and the actors are incredible! Can't wait to see the rest of your reactions!

I created a playlist dedicated for the both of you on the different movie and series reactions you did on this channel and back at White Noise.😉 All I can say is that this adaptation is very close to the original books than the movies and aside from the change of Annabeth being change into a black girl (who in the books was Caucasian) I love that the kids in this are actually played by actual young teens (12-13 years) for authentic sake compared to most films adaptations of books which aged up the characters as young adults in the 20’s. I’m very excited on the next episodes and loved your enthusiasm.

I haven't seen Percy Jackson and the Olympians so this is a first. I enjoyed watching and can't to see more episodes so I get to know this show. I had fun watching this reaction video. “DID HE STUTTER” i- this is so great Stella

A few issues I had with the series: 1. The run time of each episode, I wish they were 45-60 min long rather than the 20-30 min we received. Some scenes felt so rushed because of it. 2. Small nip pick but Chiron’s horse half not being the right color or explaining how the wheelchair worked. 3. Some of the effects were lacking, especially for being Disney. 4. The hard cuts in each episode like when they crash, the scene just cuts and pauses before going to the end result on the road. People commented in other videos that it could have been done to add commercial breaks easier. Overall I enjoyed it but I hope they change things for the future seasons.

I know people have complained about the CGI and the lengths of it. But I definitely think it’ll get better so I’m not really worrying about that too much. But I will say that yes I don’t really feel the intensity of it all. Other than that I love the show and we have great actors/actresses. So I’m really hoping to feel the intensity more next season. I don’t feel the stakes. I know that there are stakes. But I’m not feeling it. I’m not feeling grave danger. I do wish Hades was way more threatening cuz he didn’t feel threatening at all oh and Kronos especially Kronos so far his voice sounds too kiddish. I know this is a kids book but it’s a coming of age book so I think Kronos’s voice is not scary at all not even a little. Maybe would be scary for a 5 year old but not a 12 year old. I mean he’s supposed to be the big bad and I didn’t get chills from him at all. I know I haven’t been 12 for a long time but even I remember the things that would’ve spooked me then. His voice sounds familiar to the bad guy in the Spiderwick Chronicles. And I hate to say it but I did feel the intensity in the Percy Jackson movies. I think it might be because the CGI bcuz of it just being 1 color and having it look so dark I think that might be why. And bcuz of everything being short in every way it makes the show feel very boxed in. But here’s hoping next year will be awesome and they’ll be able to go bigger/grandier. 😎 💙 And I have read all the books even the Heroes of Olympus ones. 👍 Rereading them now.

You and Hayley should also watch The Wingfeather Saga (and read the books.) I think you would enjoy them.

Since you started doing TV shows with the Disney+ Percy Jackson series, hopefully at some point you and Hayley will do the following Television series on the channel such as _Ted Lasso, Squid Game, Stranger Things, A Series of Unfortunate Events (Netflix), One Piece (Netflix), Avatar: The Last Airbender (Live-Action Netflix series), The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance,_ and _The Mandalorian_ (once you eventually reach and finish the Star Wars movies) As for animated Series, hopefully you do _Hazbin Hotel (Pilot episode and series), Gravity Falls, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, Amphibia, The Owl House_ and _Tangled the Series_

I think the kid they got to play Percy legitimately looks like he comes out of Greek mythology… like he weirdly reminds me of Disney’s version of young Hercules. Is it just me?

It's amazing that the majority of this show was filmed on a soundstage. All of this was filmed on one of those new fancy pants soundstages Disney has. The kind that they used on Mandalorian.

So i love the books through the entire series. However i like the first movie more than i like the show because the pacing, the emotional beats, and intensity kinda sucks. But i think it started really picking up at episode 7 and 8. Also the acting is good.

Rick has said that this show is how he’d write the story today vs early 2000s plus diversity and stigma is different today. A blonde being smart doesn’t go against the grain like it did back then but someone with this annabeth’s description being smart does and adds layers to the story. I won’t spoil the other changes made but they definitely earn it’s respect as it’s own piece of art in addition to the books.

I love this series. It's so much closer to the books than the movies and the new stuff they added enhances the episodes rather than hinder them. And that goodbye scene was so heartbreaking. I can't imagine what it took for Sally to put so much trust in Grover. I can't wait for more.

I love this series. It follows the books so much better than the movies, the actors are actually good, and the new things they added enhance the sho rather instead of hindering it. And that goodbye scene was so heartbreaking. I can't imagine what it took for Sally to put so much trust in Grover. That hit hard.

This is the most delightfully fangirl reaction I've seen, the genuine delight and glee.

I was a huge fan of the books, and I was definitely excited for this to come out. However I have to admit that I was sadly disappointed with this series. I won't spoil anything, but unfortunately this did not live up to my expectations, and I felt that this wasn't a proper adaptation of the books. I don't know if I'll watch season 2.

I loved your reaction! I originally watched the first film before I started to read the books. On their own the movies were OK but compared to the books , the books were way better. The series, however is perfect. The only other adaption that comes close as the series is The Lightning Thief musical, which I highly recommend if you haven’t seen it. The casting is well done, the actng is phenomenal, and the action as well as the emotional spectrum of the show is on point. 🧑🏼‍🦱 🖊️🗡️🌊🔱⚡️🩵💙💛🤍
