Irene has such an incredible airy tone that is SO pretty. Irene can modulate between nasal forward and deep throat husky like ALMOST flawlessly. Her low register is so iconic. She's the baseline of harmonic, and everyone else builds on her. Wendy has defintely BECOME More stylized, but she has capability to modulate to something more akin to Irene's voice but not quite? She's still got that heavy R&B vibe and I think that's really what draws me to her as a vocalist is just how much variance her voice CAN have. She's my bias for her ridiculousness.
In terms of their vocal, Wendy and Irene in the group is not the “nasally” tone while the other 3 is the nasal one. Then their voice of uniqueness comes in. That’s why they are such a great group! Imagine their range and tones are very different but singing as one, harmonies are so tight!
Kingdom Come is absolutely a fan favorite - and yeah, it has grown on me a lot since I first heard it - but It's still not my favorite on the album. BUT, it does show off RV's vocal talent really well.
Irene's voice has always brought me a lot of calm, when she speaks in videos, in vlogs and especially when she sings. She always brings me a lot of peace with her voice. In my life I need more songs from my beautiful girl. I really loved how you described Irene's voice. 🥺💖
I love Irene's voice 😭 she has one OST called A White Night, for a movie she starred in as well as a solo Collab with DJ raiden called The Only. I would recommend listening to their latest Japanese album to get a little more of Irene's voice on group songs.
I don't even like RV's songs before. I just like Psycho and Badboy when I was starting to be on kpop world on 2020. But now I do like all their songs 😆. They grow eventually and I'm vibin on their whole discography. Their side tracks are so good they just need a few listen. Believe me, RV songs are so good. I hope people appreciate RV's genre.
When people say Red Velvet is a vocal group, that includes Irene and Yeri. Their voice range might not be as wide as the Team Rocket, they are also good. It's just that they don't get many chances to showcase it or the genre/style of their song is not good for them. I really liked Yeri's voice, especially her covers. I love Irene's voice because it is calm. She has an ost A White night which I liked to listen at night bc helps me relax and then The Only although it was upbeat, it kinda feels nostalgic bc of Irene's voice.
You're right! Irene's voice is very good, specially for talking, when she's acting, doing radio shows or vlogs listening to her make me feels hypnotized. In Red Velvet songs we see more of her using her low-medium registers but she can also handle higher notes well so i totally get what you mean by being neutral, she adapts according to the song and what her group needs unlike Wendy, Seulgi and Joy that typically adapt what they're singing to their own style. She's really like a glue and Red Velvet songs wouldn't be the same without her or Yeri. If you want to listen more of her she has a solo station called The Only and an OST called White Night that she did for her movie ❤️
When you made the comment about Irene's voice being peaceful in 26:36, it reminded me how Irene got her stage name since she is the goddess of peace 😁 I'm happy that you always notice every vocal moments of each member especially Irene and Yeri cause they are always overlooked when they have wonderful voices and they take a huge part in Red Velvet's vocal color. Thank you for this wonderful reaction btw!
It truly was beautiful! I saw them at the Dallas stop in the US and it was even more touching because they were performing it on Seulgi's birthday. A night I will NEVER forget!
OH MY GOODNESS YES YES!! Dude I clicked so fast when I saw the notification, I've been waiting for you to react to more Red Velvet their B - Sides are just WOW they probably have my favorite B - Sides of all time (they are called B - Side, Vocal, Summer, and LGBT Queens for a reason, plus the Raps were GREAT) but WOW I seriously don't know which song I like the most all I know is that a lot of them are Iconic and you should DEFINITELY check out the Look Dance Practice because they ate it up (speaking about thst I am pretty sure that was Yeri doing the run), also all of these girls can go pretty low and they do it very well like WOW! I would totally talk about each and everyone of the songs and all of the notes that the Members hit but if I did we'd be here all day and I don't want to do that to you guys! 🤣😂 Anyways I can't you to react to more Red Velvet such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and of course Ships! I can't wait for more Content from you and I hope that you are doing well and staying safe and healthy Austin! P.S. If you ever need any good Videos I could totally help you out with that if you need it! Also Red Velvet are LGBT Queens so who knows, but you know how people are they won't think it's LGBT more like just "Gals being Pals" 😆😑 P.S.S. I just want to say it again Irene has an underrated Vocal like WOW, I sometimes get Irene mixed up with Wendy she really has a stunning voice! Wendy do I have to say anything she's my favorite Vocalist in K - Pop like WOW I love her voice! Seulgi has such a unique and husky voice which I LOVE she would be a Main Vocalist in any other Group again just WOW! Joy is a legit Disney Princess I keep saying it but it's True she voice is so sweet and powerful she could be a Princess in any movie! And Yeri is so underrated holy cow her Vocals are like Cotton Candy and when she goes into her lower register just WOW she can step on me!
I recommend "The ReVe Festival Finale' (repackaged of TRF day 1 & 2), this repackaged album is a roller coaster, literally a festival!!! whereas day 1 is more on experimental like the title track zimzalabim, day 2 is bouncy! summer bops! and finale the velvet!! 16 songs in total including ZZB, Umpah umpah & Psycho.
if you want to hear irene sing..'bloom' album is the right thing u should try..the latest jpn album..she sing sing more✨trusttt me..and 'future' ost..irene also has more line in this ost..thank u sir✌️
I think only why Peak-A-Boo was on "The Perfect Velvet" Album due to their story line. Peak-A- Boo is considered as "Red Velvet Genre". However, Peak-A-Boo does fit the album. Red Velvet be like Peak-A-Boo, now LOOK. Peak-A-Boo and Look, back to back is a dance workout. On the other hand, "The Red" album did have two to three Velvet songs on it. "The Red" Album - Red Concept "The Perfect Velvet" Album - Velvet Concept "The Reve Festival" Album - Red Velvet Concept Even though, each album was based on a certain concept, the girls gave us both side. Some fans like "Red more than Velvet", others "Velvet more than Red". I like both... My first Kpop group.
DUDE IT TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH. OMG. ❤💛💚💙💜 "I Just" has it's own self-made MV by the girls. "Kingdom Come" IS SOOOOOOOO FUCKING ICONIC. It's up there in my top 10 RV tracks and it's not even a title. DUDE IT'S BEEN 7 FOR ME AND I AM ONLY JUST NOW DEEP DIVE UNDERSTANDING THEIR WHOLE STORYLINE AND EVERYTHING..."Kingdom Come" is a vocal assault. They're like "Here we're just going to totally throw our vocal prowess in your face for x minutes." "I love you till Kingdom Come" I'M GUESSING is supposed to be similar to I'll love until the day I die and beyond. Or Kingdom Come can also be referencing biblical reckoning. Idk. I'll believe the latter. "Second Date" is one of their best instrumentals. Personal opinion...xD
Red velvet really is definition of perfect 10... Thank you so much for the reaction, and instead of Irene's ost why not react to her collaboration song titled "The only". It was a bop
I think I mentioned in a different video but if you really want to hear Irene’s voice, then you should listen to the subunit album because she only sings… compared to her rap-singing that she does when it’s the whole group… but SM has now been giving her more singing lines this time around.
when you realize perfect 10 lyrics is about filming a sex tape lmfaoo the song is just mature in every way. but yeah irene in time to love is so special, she rarely gets that many singing lines, i've noticed that in most choruses of rv songs, you'll hear irene being the most prominent singing the melody (esp in live stages you notice this), i think with all of their diverse tones, irene balances them all out and makes their unison sound so cohesive and beautiful. this is def one of my fav albums from them, production wise too it's insane. i'm glad you enjoyed :)
Honestly i felt like the demo version of this track has R-18 lyrics so when it was given to Red Velvet SM producers tried to change it to a Rated PG song 😅
26:31 that's what I was saying as well!!! In a band set up I feel like Irene's voice is the bass line, it's just so grounding. In a group that really has a lot of unique tones, her voice shines as much as other members by giving us a sense of warm familiar calm feeling. Her voice really does a lot in making us not feel too overwhelmed. I really loved that you noticed it, thank you Sir Austin you are always the best 💖
Omg Red Velvet reaction!!! Thank you :) Really quick: ‘I Just’ actually has a music video! It’s a bit different but we love that here. Moonlight Melody is a song they use to close out their concerts and it’s really soooo nice live. Honestly the majority of the songs on this album even though they are amazing and iconic by themselves, when they are live…. just…. 🤌🏻 chefs kiss 💋. If you want a more upbeat RV album, the first ReVe Festival Trilogy is a great place to look :) I think you’ll really love the Day 1 tracks. Side note: Many of RV’s albums correlate to the vibes of the season they are released in (this one was late fall/early winter) :) Seventeen does this too as well as soooo many other artists. Maybe a reason some songs don’t hit the way you think they will is because you’re in the wrong season haha.
Kingdom Come has also been a grower to me. Listening to it first (around 2018), I had some sort of mixed feelings towards it. I tried to listen to it again and again, yet, I still just can't seem to digest it well so it never been a favorite, it's good but not something I came back to for months. Until I randomly heard it again and I hated myself for not loving it the first listens. Now, it's been a top b-side song for me by Red Velvet. I wish you will find the song well, too, eventually. And like you, I loved I Just the first listen and still get chills every time I listen to it. Definitely one of my top k-pop songs of all time. This album is such a masterpiece and something different from all the albums that were released that year and actually it's still revered by fans and critics up to this day. Who would have thought that a popular and well-loved k-pop group would release a full album with so much influence from the late 90s to early 2000s R&B and 70s & 80s retro sounds (that time it's not the trend unlike what we saw in 2020) in a world where k-pop groups are known for their upbeat, techno, and edm sounds? It is such a brave album for Red Velvet to record and publish. Cementing their title for being the concept royalties of the k-pop scene. No doubt that when it was released, critics praised their versatility and musicality.
19:24 I'm pretty sure the saying "till kingdom come" means "until the kingdom of heaven arrives", so it's a fancy old-timey way of saying, "till I die".
Yasss, thank you for thiss!!! I just and Perfect 10 are my favorite songs in this album, but in general, this album is really really good, i love it so much. Thanks for this reaction, and I hope you react a bit more to Red Velvet and SNSD music
Perfect Red Velvet is the greatest RV album. For me it is a masterpiece the quintessential RV album because all the tracks in the album are not your typical "idol songs" but are high quality songs. I also love that the producers of each tracks paid tribute to 80's and 90's RnB, Hip Hop and Electronic music. This is Red Velvet at their absolute prime and this is one of the reasons why this group will stay relevant forever because they are not idols, they are artists that are masters of their own craft. If there is a criticism i have is that this should've been the album from the get go not the repackaged version. 😊
41:31 Trivia: the '10' you hear in he perfect 10 are sung by random AI voices from the internet which the producers have found online ... That' why there's different voice on every 10 ;)
kingdom come is not my favorite either, just like you I know that it's a good song, but I love the other songs so much more lol, time to love is definitely my favorite in this album
That's what I like about red velvet, they are very versatile. They never stick to one sound or one genre. They have everything for everyone. I know you prefer more upbeat stuff, but for me personally, I like how they bring a lot of stuff on the table. It's like, not matter what mood I am in, red velvet always has a song for me that suits the mood. That's why I think their discography is The Best in k-pop.
If I remembered it correctly, PAB was the first song that they combined Red & Velvet concept! P.S. I Just also has its own MV; there are also clips of their performance of My Second Date (with choreooooo). The Reve Festival Day 1 & 2 has fun songs too!
Im just gonna say time to love till this day still my number 1 red velvet song. Theres just something in that song that my monkey brain said yes give me more
Thank you for saying that about Irene’s voice TT Her voice never fails to calm me down and I find it so pleasant and never overwhelming to listen to. Sadly people only focus on her visual and not her talent
