this album is a masterpiece, i wonder if this is how MF DOOM & madlib fans felt when Madvillainy dropped, yes i know the comparison sound insane but man, The Chemistry, The Creativity, THE ART!!!.
I thought the same when I first listened. This generations madvillain. Love Freddie and Madlib but this shit scratches that weird itch I have for off kilter hip-hop.
One of the craziest things to me is that peggy made all the beats in a SP 404, i never though you could go this far (in terms of like, the effects and arrangements) with only a sampler, it's insane
Yea it's wild how he uses that thing. I have one but the sounds he gets are bananas. And I could be wrong, but I do think he mixed it in a daw. There's sidechain compression on some songs and the SP doesn't really have that function.
@@dmtpussybacon5564 yea, I do that with the 303 comp on there, and also by adjusting the attack envelope, but it isn't the same and as effective as how Peggy has it
This Friday is really amazing. Peggy and Danny collabed for an amazing album, Lana and 6LACK dropped and Bob blessed us with an amazing video. Can’t wait for more in 2023
@@genesisosuna yeah was not talking abt albums quality but in terms of popularity, this friday was STACKED. Unfortunately yeah 6LACK could deliver more
You are by far the best reaction channel on RU-vid. Your open mindedness is my blueprint for life as I come of age. Always appreciate your perspectives and enthusiasm
watching this just reminded me how far bob has come in the hip hop community. like remember being excited for him to listen to wolf and cherry bomb. and now hes listening to peggy and danny brown on release night. insane!!!!
I saw him live once, and it was so entertaining to watch him absolutely destroy onstage while his whole act is him running back and forth from the crowd to his laptop to press the spacebar to cue up the next song. Also, I’m dead serious when I tell people he’s the best producer since Kanye, and I feel like this next couple years is going to prove me right.
Probably the most beautiful mess I've heard in a long time. "Scaring the Hoes" feels so eccentric and hard hitting with this kind of "fuck you" attitude, the rough mixing which is in line with their maniac-like rapping (you can tell that they had fun doing this) and playing with one's expectations.
I think Peggy purposely buried him and Danny’s vocals behind the beat for the majority of the album so we can focus on his production which he worked really hard on.
I think so too cus on stuff like Veteran and LP the beats aren’t as manic and the vocals are clearer but this album seems intentionally made all around
It's easy to do repeat listens of. It's such a helltrain that whips you through the tracklist and then STOPS. And then you're left with the question of "ride again?" Hell yeah I'm gonna ride again (presses play)
I'm not really into rap/hip-hop(but I'm absolutely getting into it) and i listened to this album for the first time while walking the dog in a park. Freaking greatest walk of my life hahah
One thing i always love about your videos Bob is that you seem like youre having fun in every single video, so reacting to an album that is already this fun just has you laughing out loud pretty much the entire time
It's pretty rare when I'm not enjoying the new music I'm hearing, but albums like this make it especially fun. Peggy always packs his music with surprises, and it's never ever boring
This album is so raw but so polished. This exceeded all expectations and broke down the fundamentals of Jpegmafia’s sound. This man never ceases to amaze me, 10/10. - Oh and he did it all on *one* machine.
This has to be one of the most creative albums of all time, so many insane beats that nobody could make besides Peggy, easily a 9 for me at the moment just because of a couple mixing flaws, but it could definitely become a 10 with a few more listens.
I love seeing Bob reacting to music because he makes a deep analysis into the production and lyrics, and that's exactly how I appreciate music. thanks for beeing you, Bob
Not sure if you’ve reacted to some of peggy’s early work under the name “Devon Hendryx” but if you haven’t, I HIGHLY recommend you do. Some of his best work.
Peggy is officially GOATED as if Veteran and LP didn't already qualify him. It was impossible to imagine how good this album was gonna be, I mean we know we were getting something good but... They knocked it out of the park. JPEG is a Kanye/Kendrick level talent
I think the jack harlow line is fucking genius. He is a very mediocre white rapper that rose to massive popularity for mid ass rap songs. I might be reading too deep into it but i think hes ashamed that black culture let this white rapper sell them chicken, which is shameful cause yhe only reason hes so popular is cause hes white and can do rap. I forgot what the sophisticated word for it is, i think it might be gentrification, and people eating it up. Beautiful
because of the cover this album makes me think of old bootleg movie cassette tapes, with really low quality movies. the sound of this album kind of resembles something of that sorts, with the old samples and distorted audio as well as the low mix of the voices. really cool stuff.
I feel like people don’t get his 343 bar, it’s so crazy and layered. “ I wish these nerds would come outside so they can 343” 343 is the name of the studios that makes the Halo Games, and what else is a halo, on an angel, he’s basically saying he wants them to come outside so they can die. Such a layered bar it’s crazy
Hey Bob, I'm also a big jpegmafia fan. I would recommend looking into all of his unreleased music - some stuff you might be into. Older albums like 'communist slow jams' and the 'ghost pop tape' in particular might be some of my favourite music of his. just an idea because I imagine you're itching for new peggy music, but there's so much out there you might not have heard. Much love bob ❤
I'm hoping to eventually do reaction videos to all of his music. His 2 EPs are the highest priority for me right now, especially since he has a solo project coming along this year.
I saw someone in chat saying that you should react to Cosmogramma by Flying Lotus and I definitely agree. I think you'd love listening to this experimental hip-hop instrumental album with beautiful jazz elements and amazing synths
I think it's great you're doing these now, don't get me wrong, but my only criticism is maybe you either make the chat smaller or remove it, it's just harder to see the lyrics now then it was before but other than that it looks great, and great album btw! Been waiting on this one ever since rumours of a collab started circulating!
Yeah, I didn't realize so many people actually followed along with the lyrics on my screen. That's on me. I got that sorted out at the end of the stream (not recorded), so it'll be better next time around
@@bobthepoppop Yeah I always follow along with the lyrics, in fact I usually never listen to music with lyrics so reading along with them when watching you usually makes me learn a ton of new stuff about an album so for me you having lyrics on screen is great, so good to hear it's fixed for the next video!
Awesome, I was just wondering a couple hours ago how long it would take for Bob to get to it. The production is insane, I listened to it 3 times so far and I can hardly remember any lyrics because I'm vibing with the beats so hard.
I came back to your channel after a little bit of time and you're at 80k man, that's great, been here since 10k, your reaction are so good, a lot of thought and a fresh perspective
For me, scaring the hoes is the musical equivalent of a youtube poop, It was something from old RU-vid and it consisted of videos with very bizarre editing and ridiculous humor, they were such chaotic and random videos but that was the fun of the ytp, their madness was what made them so addictive and for me this is scaring the hoes, it's like a Disneyland for fans of experimental hip hop. Your reactions are always fun and interesting to see and more than anything because of the perspective you have on different hip hop albums, excellent content you make! 🙌
I really liked this album. I had z ever listened to either of them but I heard Lean Beef Patty and I was blown away at how they made sounds that shouldn’t work together sound amazing. Creatives like these guys are very special imo
I'm new to their music aside from the occasional single or feature. I'm now a fan of both of them. Danny with his podcast guest spots then his own show with YMH Studios, JPEG going on his show, his music popping up in my Spotify, etc. So much that slowly got me into them this past 2 weeks. I'm loving the album and excited to listen to their discographies. Edit: Have I watched you react to Veteran? I smoke so much I forget shit sometimes. And I watch a lot of RU-vid when I'm off work so... 😂
Bob you HAVE to listen to billy woods and Armand hammer. Very heavy on the lyrics it’s right up your alley. I think a great place to start would be HARAM produced by The Alchemist.
This was fun but one of my my favorite parts about is reading comment’s explains what it means and it’s significance as if it wasn’t just Peggy tryna make dank beats and raps with Danny😂 like mfs reading into this shit too much lol
i watched this when you posted it and came to rewatch, died laughing at “i have to click on this, i do not know who jack harlow is.” you’re hilarious bob, i love you
Seeing where you are now is amazing. You have a better camera for sure 😂 your reactions seem more in tune and comfortable. I went back to much earlier videos and you put your arms on your head a lot. Maybe you got more comfortable or for those nice headphones haha It's good to see you grow AND to see your excitement of getting this far I did 6 years and 10 months in the Air Force. Decided I would rather be happy 😂
