Hey Elle and Den! Love the video. I always get such great ideas for interesting things I can do with my own reptile enclosures. I also wanted to mention that Asher of Asher’s Reptiles and Amphibians is an up-and-coming RU-vidr that I’m subscribed to and I’ve been trying to help him grow his channel. RU-vid keeps turning off his comments due to lack of an adult in the videos but he’s got beautiful animals and is working on content like crazy so anyone wanting to show him some love and support, please go subscribe and check out his content. ☺️ Also, I have subscribed to Brad’s Bioactive Builds now because of this video and his tank submission. What a beautiful enclosure for that ackie! Looking forward to checking out his videos and getting even more inspiration for my own reptile homes. Can’t wait for part 6.2! 🤣 (P.S: Den’s comment about the stump growing made me snort with laughter. I love the way y’all interact together. It’s sweet and funny at the same time and that’s definitely a good thing. 🤘🏻) ETA: I almost forgot! Billy’s enclosure for Hiccup (my rescue beardie is also named Hiccup. He came with the name.) is amazing! There’s a guy on Facebook that makes those hide/platform combos in different styles and he even makes some for snakes! If you don’t mind me sharing the link for it, let me know and I’ll pop it into a reply to this comment so other people can check them out!
Thank you so much for watching! I pinned your comment to share the channel information. 😁 And please share that link! I'll be on the lookout to make sure it doesn't go to the spam comment folder. 😊
Thank you so much for reviewing Hiccup's tank! I laughed but also died inside when you guys said it would be perfect for a children's room. 25 year old dude here who has a soft spot for How To Train Your Dragon 😂🥰
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how you give suggestions and explain why the changes are needed and didn’t bash the people. If more people educated instead of degraded people there would be more reptiles kept in healthier conditions.
I love how you are explaining everything in the nicest way possible. Even when someone was cohabbing you weren’t rude to them. That’s literally awesome, it’s rare to encounter nice people like you guys❤❤
Wow, it's so cool to see my builds on your channel! The joy we all share is making the lives of our reptiles better by offering enrichment. You 2 always have great videos. Thanx for subscribing to my channel. 🤘🦎💯. P.S I also like the idea you had of doing channel reviews!
I have to say, Den (Sp? I haven't seen it written down) is getting very natural in front of the camera! You guys always have great chemistry, but this video was particularly natural, I found. Great enclosures, of course, and I can't wait for Pt. 6.2!
Thanks for reviewing Artemis' enclosure. I'm glad you liked it. I'm planning on converting to a bioactive soon and definitely adding more sticks. She definitely loves to climb. It is also homemade. Australia doesn't have many decent options for larger enclosures (I haven't found any commercially available enclosures big enough for her species). I would definitely recommend getting a carpet python if you're looking to get one. Artemis is an absolute sweetheart, never bitten anyone (even as a baby) and is great at being handled. There are a bunch of different subspecies though and they all have unique requirements (I think there is something like 6-9 different subspecies). There aren't many morphs with them but there natural colours are all pretty amazing. As for the models they are Lego haha. The mechs are Ninjago and I don't know if you can see it but there is a Lego tall neck there as well (horizon zero dawn)
I recently found your channel Elle, after my dad sent me some of your bearded dragon care videos. Really helped me with my new baby beardie (Apophis is his name) and he's happier than ever outside of that petsmart container they had him in :( Thank you so much for providing informational and fun videos about reptile care. I'm not too comfortable to send in a picture of his tank just yet, but... soon. Soon.
Thank you so much for watching the videos, I'm glad they've helped. And I'm sure we'll still be doing these sorts of videos when (and if) you ever feel comfortable sending yours in. But I completely understand, we always try to be positive and educational, but I wouldn't feel comfortable sending pictures in for other people to review either 😅
Your channel has helped me so much I’ve been watching a while and just recently got a leopard gecko. Thank you for all your advice your videos really helped me.
Hey I love your videos. I recently purchased my first ball python and got alot of my information on how to properly care for him from alot of your videos as well as some other RU-vidrs. There's one thing I can't find anywhere and that is, is there a specific spot in my enclosure that I should place my thermometer/hygrometers. I noticed the ones I have on the back of the enclosure always read a lower humidity level then the one sitting on top of the substrate. Which obviously makes sense. Im just not sure which hygrometer would be giving me the most accurate reading. If that makes sense lol.
It's best to have one on both ends of the tank. Your warm side is probably going to have a lower humidity than the cool side, but that's perfectly normal/ok! When you're trying to adjust the humidity in the tank, you really just want an average, because it is going to be different everywhere. (It's actually good for the humidity to be different everywhere, that way the ball python can hang out where ever is the most comfortable 😊)
Thank you so much it was driving me crazy looking at all the hygrometers and not knowing what to do lol. Is there a specific way to clean or sanitize zoo med cork bark? I purchased a few pieces and one of them after a week or 2 looks like it has some type mold on it i can be wrong but there aren't any videos online on how to clean if it's necessary.
Beautiful enclosures. I’m so freakin jealous lol…. Quick question 🙋🏾♂️ where do you get your backgrounds for your enclosures? I know you’ve discussed this before I just can’t remember which video. Oh & do they have all different sizes like for 8 footers?
My bearded dragon is almost 6 months old, and today from watching your videos and doing research I realized he has not been getting proper care. When at the pet store when we first got him they told us to feed him 4-6 crickets a day and a few greens every once and awhile and that's all he needed. Today I realized he has been starving and should eat much more than that. Also his tank has been 70 degrees F on the warmest side which is FAR to cold, and he needs to be like 100-110 degrees on the warm side. He won't eat any greens, so we are going to start giving him daily salads and feed him lots of crickets because he's been starved, and after he's fully nourished we will follow your guide on how to get him to eat greens, but we don't want to do it yet cause he needs to be well fed before we don't feed him for a few days. We ordered him a stronger heat lamp, and are trying to lower the humidity a little because that's at 55%, which is to much. I'm in the road to taking better care of my first beardie, and I'm just glad I chose the bigger, healthier one at the pet store, otherwise he might not have made it through my horrible neglectful care. I promise I'm doing my best to fix it as fast as possible, and he's doing okay, he doesn't seem to unhealthy, but I definitely noticed hes not as big as he should be at 6 months. He's supposed to be 11-18 inches now, and he's only 7in. We assume it's because of his diet and bad lighting so I'm going to fix it as soon as possible. Wish me luck!! Also wanted to thank you for showing me better ways to care for my dragon, and convincing me to do more research because I was not caring for him properly. His name's Roy, wish him luck on his road to recovery!! Thank you sm!!
We all make mistakes, but the most important thing is just learning from them and doing the best we can for our animals. It seems like you're immediately doing that after you realized there was a problem. I applaud you for that, and I wish you and Roy the best of luck 💜💜💜
I had to stop at 9:00 to comment. Thank you for reviewing the Beardie’s and giving much needed feedback. I hope they take your advice. I have a suggestion for the previous enclosures…to add backgrounds and cover the sides. Reptiles don’t like all four sides of a glass tank being exposed. Even if you just cut black poster board and tape it to the outside, that’ll work and be better than nothing. Just my two cents🦎❤️🦎
When I'm getting ready to record these kinds of videos, I'll post to the community tab here and on Instagram, asking for pictures. Then you can send them to the email address listed or send them through instagram. 🥰
Man I was going to submit mine but right before I did I just started thinking of all the thing I could do to make it better so maybe if you do another I will submit. I am actually pretty proud of my ball python tank
Hi Elle! Loves these videos as usual! my ball python was in blue, and then two days later I checked on him and he wasn’t. I took everything out of the cage and found no shed… also I will be changing my name to worth while reptiles :) (I wanna start a channel)
Awesome about the channel! And yep! That's completely normal. 😊Usually they'll go back to looking like their regular selves right before they actually shed. This is usually when I know to bump the humidity up in the tank, because they'll be shedding in the next day or 2.
I would love to send you mine. I have a Juvinial female bearded dragon. I change out her climbing spaces I'm starting to fell she is out growing her climbing spots.
My bearded dragon died today and I do t know what happened :( . He was fine one hour and I come back a little later to feed him dinner and he is dead. He hasn’t moved one bit since last night and his eyes are purple and his mouth is a little open. Ik it is brumation Season but I really think he is head.😔
@@ellesreptiles it’s okay. He was so young too. I think he was sick when we got him tho because he didn’t show much interest in food and he wasn’t putting on any weight :( . Can’t trust those Chain Pet stores 😔
Hello Elle, I have been trying to get ahold of you, I sent you messages on Instagram, I would like to have you on a psychological study video, I am friends with Bill Stewart
Sorry my last comment was rude so I deleted it. I'd love to see you buy a UVB meter and test out different UVB bulbs. That would make for a good video.
That's ok! 😊 I have a couple videos where I include clips of using my SolarMeter, and I've been meaning to make a whole video about it, but I honestly just keep forgetting to do it. 😅 but you're right that it would make a great video! Maybe I'll record some clips today so I'll actually remember.
@@ellesreptiles sounds great. I tried searching for a UVB video on your channel and not much came up just beardie lighting. My apologies again I was in a bad mood when I wrote my first comment. Your channel is excellent and keep up the great work.
