I wouldn't trust old Cassandra with my skincare routine back then... Well probably I would cuz I didn't know skincare back then but now that I kind have an idea from ppl like Susan, Cassandra, Hiram, Dr. Dray, James and the rest makes me understand it better
When I found Cassandra way back, even though I didn’t take her advice, I watched her videos anyway because it made me feel better about my hormonal cystic acne, knowing I wasn’t alone. I had amazing skin as a teenager and then at age 21 BAM out of now where full on acne. I’m 31 now and I finally have the skin I’ve wanted for the last decade.
You should take it down, or leave a warning on it that this is an old clip with outdated or erroneous information. It's entertaining to watch how much you cringe while you are watching yourself from 8 years ago. I cringe when I think about the things I have done to my skin and hair over the past 30 years.
Growing and learning alongside you is probably the best part of this journey. Also! if you retitle the original video as Retired, left up to show how much even the teacher learns that's be nifty :3
Seconding the suggestion of tagging old and outdated videos with [Retired] or [Fact Checked]! We all went through a phase of diy and "natural" skincare and newbies to the skincare world are likely to do the same. Being able to find older videos where that stuff is discussed and flagged as a bad choice in hindsight is a lot more valuable than just pretending that nobody will do this kind of treatment again!
This is a part of the journey. Id leave it up but put a disclaimer and a link to this video. Love you for sharing your story and growth! You made so many people feel more normal and accepted!
I love your natural voice so much. I'm a new subscriber and I didn't know you used to talk in a high pitched voice. When I first subscribed, your voice stood out to me, it's very easy to listen to, and somehow very calming. I'm glad you're using your natural voice now, because you sound great 🥰
I adore how humble and how honest you are; it's great to see someone who can be so real and give constructive criticism even to their own work - the skincare community is a better place with you and your knowledge in it; I am a new member of the butterfly 🦋 family and I couldn't be happier, thank you for all that you do Cassandra 💕
I've been watching for 10 years! My friend told me about you back in college and I have been a subscriber since. Now I have three sons and an am stay at home mom. Haha so that's how life is going for me!
I love how compassionate you are to your past self but also be able to laugh at yourself as well. It’s perfectly normal to laugh as a comfort mechanism and lets be honest we all laugh at our past self 😂 you have come very far and learnt so much through your journey & your self awareness around how you speak shows that!! We are all so incredibly proud of you & love you for you, entirely❤️
Thanks Cassandra for the re-education. This must be so hard for you. Your so strong and beautiful- thank you so much for continuing to help us acne suffers.
Please do not take down any of these videos! I still love watching these, it's kinda nostalgic :) You can just add some disclaimer in the description, so that we will know whether or not to follow any instructions :D
Take so much courage to recognize we make mistakes, and even more to publicly do it and correct any misinformation. Amazing human big and big Cister 💕 lots of love from Mexico!
Cassandra, I love seeing your evolution! I have been watching your videos since the beginning. I struggled with severe cystic acne for years. Watching your videos has felt like a big part of my own journey. I can relate to you in many ways, and it is great to see how far you have come. You may not know me, but we will always be cysters ❤️ Love you and keep doing amazing things
Your transparency is why I’ve trusted you the last 3 months to help start my skincare journey. I’ve learned SO MUCH and my skin looks AMAZING. I can actually go into Sephora and Ilta and know what I’m talking about and understand what I’m hearing. I’m also considering shifting course and getting my esthetics license rather than cosmetology and possibly finishing my chem degree to work in a lab and eventually design a skincare line of my own!
@@pokemontas8025 Do you mean Benzene? If yes, the answer is it can but it’s super unlikely that it will cause cancer. This is because we are already exposed to Benzene by just living life, the air were breathing in contains low levels of benzene from tobacco smoke, exhaustion from cars and industrial emissions, detergents etc. Therefore, not using a sunscreen because of Benzene isn’t a good enough reason to protect yourself from sun exposure - since the level is very low, and also why not use it when were already exposed to it by most things.
I remember this video when it came out! I’ve been part of your beautiful butterfly community since the old times❤️ i loved you then and i love you now!!
Not only do I VIVIDLY remember this video, but tried this for a LONG TIME!!! Of course it never worked, but your DIY videos were why I subscribed so long ago!!! So glad to be apart of each others skin care journey for so long. You will always be my #1 skin confidant
I used to make my voice go higher because I naturally have a deeper voice for a girl and I was really insecure about it. Sometimes it triggers me a little bit to watch older videos of me talking. It makes me think of when I was hiding who I was to please others while doing this was really bringing me down. It actually helps me a little bit to see that Cassandra also used to make her voice higher. It kinda just shows that I'm not alone in what I went through and instead of thinking about the bad times I can think of the growth I made over the years just to feel more comfortable in my skin.
Wow thank u for this video . And DON'T LET ANYONE TELL U UR VOICE IS TOO LOW OR WEIRD . U HAVE ONE OF THE MOST DISTINCT VOICE I HAVE HEARD. JUST LOVE THE VOCAL FRY .
It's lovely to see how authentic and true to yourself you've become, you can tell you were putting a persona and trying to be more likeable, I know how it feels I think we've all been there haha proud of u 💖
Cassandra I struggled with acne for over 10 years now. I finally decided to see a dermatologist because I started to get cystic acne. Let me tell you, the best decision I have made. It's only been two weeks and my face has never been so clear and non-inflamed. I appreciate all the content you put out. It really helped me understand the way my skin works.
You are strong and beautiful inside and out you’ve overcame a lot of crap that people would wallow in a corner playin the victim but you rose to a beautiful Butterfly 🦋
Oh I used to follow you even back then (of course I changed channels a couple of times so my subscription with the current one is fairly recent). I felt like you were one of the few people on the internet who would keep it real and show what acne actually looks like, and how tough it can be to not only treat your acne but also KNOW YOUR SKIN AND WHAT IT NEEDS. Sure, the advice you used to give didn't age super well, but that's growth! Thank you for everything you've done for your fellow acne-prone siblings (sebum-lings? trying to think of a gender neutral equivalent of cysters haha)
Other skincare youtubers: Reacts and cringes to celebrity's DIY skin care routines Cassandra: Reacts and cringes to herself doing the DIY skin care At this point, she is definitely a skin care legend🦋
I mean, Cassandra largely reacts to celebrity skincare routines. I think she's only reacted to 2 or maybe 3 of her own old videos whereas she has at least 15 videos reacting to celebrities.
Me watching this w a proper skincare routine while having flashbacks to middle school me using non diluted Raw Apple Cider Vinegar and Tea Tree Oil on my face 😀🔫
Oh my goodness I can't tell you how thankful I am to have discovered your channel! So many things I had no idea about! Also a lot of misleading info out there especially with skincare. Thanks to you I cut out a lot of unnecessary products and have a better understanding of what to look for. My skin has never looked better!! You're amazing 😊💕💗💕
Awesome of you reviewing your "ol self". I think its good to leave it up with a disclaimer. Powerful learned wisdom! Your current hits are having a wonderful effect on my skin. Love you butterfly💛💪
The "OhO sweATY" I love your channel 🤣🖤 Seeing how much you have grown is phenomenal!!! I'm so happy you have embraced your voice and you were able to look back and giggle without being too harsh on baby you 🖤
I remember when I "discovered" skincare products when I was 15yo. I had huge problems with blackheads and pimples. I used Garnier peeling EVERYDAY and Under Twenty and other Garnier cleansers, but never moisturizers. I thought that my skin is oily and I can't put oily things on my skin. So the effect was terrible - I had more pimples and more blackheads and literally I was red like a tomato after all those peelings. Thankfully dad took me to the dermatologist and I started to take care of my skin properly. I'm sad that I didn't discovered your videos earlier - but better now than never. You're amazing Cassandra. Thank you for all skincare advices and all precious knowledge. 🥰 Best wishes from Poland! ❤️🌈✨
Growing and evolving is always appreciated, we all have been ignorant and misinformed at some point in our lives. Your content has made me understand my skin better or else I would have kept drying out my face for my pimples to go away - fellow oily acne prone skin cyster
My partner says and I agree, your voice is great. I'm a NB person I've got a very deep voice but look totally female. I also had acne and was overweight. So much crud at school. It's great to see that we all change so much and grow as people (Hopefully) in 8 years. You give us all hope :)
Me also cringing at how I used to think all I needed to do for my skin was oil cleanse, nothing else. And the DIY Oils to which I added tons of essential oils
Same here! I kept trying in the past and I'd get horrible zits, I finally found some that do not do that to my skin and am vigilant about it now. I should have started 10 years ago ... 🙄 Better late than never? Lol
People talk about your skin journey. Can we talk about your hair journey. Wowowow. Also you’re intellectual blossoming has made me so happy. Love your content so so so much
I've been subscribed since 2010 and I'm still here. I just can't believe the past Cassandra feels like a whole different person compared to the current Cassandra. You did well, Cass and we love you. n_n *I'm an acne-fighter butterfly*
I want to see you react to the honey facial video. I used to use this on my acne back in the day-spoiler-it didn’t do anything. Now I have a proper skin care routine that’s much gentler on my skin-and I have less acne because of it. Thank you for looking back on these old videos and updating us with the correct information.
Don’t take it down, but add some extra info beside in the title. or you could even add some captions in the video pointing out all the wrong things that’s been said.
First I loved the commentary Lolol but yes I would vote to take it down. It’s a video that can be used as a tool to do more harm than good. It’s awesome and super responsible for you to acknowledge and pose this question as it occurs to you and love how you’re looking for feedback within the community❤️❤️🌺
I get the same feeling when I get blood drawn or a shot. I have a lot of medical trauma from surgeries and procedures. Give yourself some grace, dear. You're better now, you're an adult and you have knowledge you're not desperate anymore. You don't have to go through that again.
Oh DIY skincare for acne, I burned myself with 100% tea tree oil and had a pretty large lesion that blistered and scarred. Also did baking soda scrub, honey and cinnamon, and used apple cider vinegar as a toner. Ugh the damage, the pH imbalance
Saw a NEW video where she recommended at Ives apricot scrub every other day & baking soda/lemon mask every other day.. I very kindly tried to say that was abrasive & really upset her. Her skin was sooo raw & irritated under the acne. She prob liked the dryness over being oily maybe..? But she told me off & how it “works for her” I hope most ppl know better
I have been here since 2012! We stan this video. Also please review your DIYs for colds please. I followed that religiously back then, and I am not sure how accurate those tips were lol. Still love you, no tea no shade.
Omg Cassandra , delete it. I just know that somwhere someone who has never used skincare who has gotten their first ever breakout is going to search for "natural remedies" to heal their acne.
I think you should leave your old videos up but include a disclaimer in the description :) I'd be interested in your more current reaction to your old video about how to have a flat stomach! I feel like your thoughts on that would be much healthier now.
@@shawnaychelsea The Bioré Uv Aqua watery essence is amazing. No white cast and the smell is out of this world. The All Around Safe Block by Missha is also great.
You eas as beautiful then as you are now, I love how you can admit you’re mistakes to us And I love your skin videos the best Because talk truth to us and explain everything well
Think of that video as a testament that you have gone further on your journey😀😀 At least we have seen that you have improve from that video, based on your present uploads
I still do certain DIY masks, one with honey/royal jelly/propolis, inositol, pearl powder and glutathione (small amounts of the last 3). There are some great skin care products with papain, but you really do need to use lab filtered actual papain and not a full papaya!! Even if you’re financially in a bad spot, I’d just go to Walgreens and get a benzoyl peroxide wash. There are definitely better/a bit healthier ingredients to get rid of acne and scars, such as CO2 laser treatments, peels with phenol/glycolic/glutathione combos, and Morpheus, and vampire facials.
Guys appreciate her to be honest it takes a lot of guts to go out there to your old insecure self omg ily Cassandra the emotional pressure she fucking went through.
Keep the video up but rename it, "What not to do tips from the past Cassandra", or take it down so others don't try this when looking up d.i.y for acne scars etc.
Hey Cassandra, don't take that video down! Instead, change the title to sth like: "How to NOT exfoliate your skin" or "Things to NOT put on your face" Love you girl!
I wish I had known what hyper pigmentation was ten years ago. I had horrible teeth as a child and never went to a dentist, so while I didn't serious issues with acne I know just how mean peers can be. Once I became an adult and could afford it I had them all removed. Imagine the disappointment when I looked in the mirror expecting a perfect smile and was greeted with a permanent brown mustache. Took it years to fade away.
