That Buxton catch is only mediocre because the dude is too fast. Anyone else would've had to dive for it but Buxton is such a ridiculous fielder everything looks easy lol.

Mullins on Gary Sanchez was probably the best catch of the year to be honest

Derek hill tigers center fielder made a lot of sick catches this year surprised any of them didn’t make the list

Also the fact that Billy Mckinney’s catch against the padres wasn’t on the list when it was easily top 10 debatably top 5 is unbelievable

It’s between Springer and that Marlins catch for me. The ball is railing away from them. Great jumps, great dives, and great catches.

I think that catch of the year was Tauchman's HR catch, Pujols was the batter.

As a Whitesox fan I gotta go Hamilton for catch of the year. That game was so stressful to watch because it was so important and people were making so many errors in the outfield because of the conditions. Also the call was awesome!

Cain had another one, it was similar to yastrzemski, except closer to being a home run. It was later in the season against the cubs at miller park (or whatever it is now). I think marc would've put it top 3 if it was on the list

The catch the Marlins right fielder made where he overran the ball and then caught it with his non glove hand was amazing, obviously since he overran it, it wasn't the best, but it was really impressive.

Honestly think you got it right Springer was full extension as well over the shoulder ish back handed catch and he was high in the air the jump was insane

It’s not an outfield catch but Urshela’s catch into the Rays’ dugout was wild.

I think you misunderstand the TV dive. It looks like you’re saying if they’re on their feet while they’re making the catch, then a dive afterwards is unnecessary. But sometimes to even get your glove to the ball you need to start leaning far forward as you’re running, and the only way to finish that move is with a dive, even if your dive happens after you caught the ball. Once you lean forward enough while running to catch a ball, at a certain point it’s impossible to just keep running, and you need to dive. I’m referring to Buxton’s catch

There’s a few from the tigers that deserve some appreciation. Especially with the size of Comerica making some home run robberies actually insane

These were good catches, but…there were no home run robs which are always fun. Examples being Judge, Cedric Mullins, and the by far the best is Tauchman robbing Pujols. Also Arozarena’s Superman dive against the Red Sox is an absolute miss not being here. Of the ones shown, Billy Hamilton’s mud slide edges out Springer. Best bat flips of ‘21 would be fun to see and don’t sleep on a subtle but cool as hell bat flip from Jared Walsh after grand slamming the Yankees to tie up the game this year. Anyways, love ya Marc!

Dude the fact that Jorge maters got put on this list but Cedric vs Gary wasn’t on here (Cedric quite literally floats above the wall) or Clint Frazier’s catch vs Indians or the actual catch of the year where gio urshela comes in from a shift at third catches the ball and goes in to the dugout but holds on to the ball

Sometimes diving allows for the fielder to coral the ball more easily - it's almost a continuation of the approach to the ball

Based on the StatCast every single ball that was hit this season has a 25% chance to be caught Update: Back half was mostly 10% chance so those are the only two options

It seened like this wasn't including home run robberies cause there were some pretty insane ones of those. I agree with your top 2 but personally I put the Mookie catch number 3. It doesn't look as mind blowing when you just watch the replay but the context of that catch wins the game combined with the ball literally falling out of his glove and the awareness to move his hand to secure it while he's still midslide is just ridiculous for me.
