Since ive already finished Halo 3: ODST. I thought it would be fun to relive all the trailer reactions from my first time ever playthrough video! Hope you all Enjoy!
Halo 3: ODST is a 2009 first-person shooter game developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The fourth installment in the Halo franchise, it was released on the Xbox 360 in September 2009.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a compilation of first-person shooter video games in the Halo series, originally released in November 2014 for the Xbox One, and later on Microsoft Windows through 2019 and 2020. The enhanced version was released for the Xbox Series X|S in November 2020

It happens throughout the entire game little things like that. Dare calling out on open comms and him going to reply but the Phantom flies past, when she asks his name and the Brutes drop in. He isnt silent just interrupted alot ahaha.

I always found the idea of playing a highly skilled, but unaugmented human to be more interesting than playing THE super soldier. Playing as Master Chief is still great though lol Fun fact, some fans theorize that the Rookie is the son of a Project Orion candidate because of his feats of strength and durability throughout the game.

The time between 5:00-5:37 is literally taking place during he last cutscene of the 5th mission (Metropolis) in Halo 2. Plus if you take a close look at the room in the epilogue scene where Johnson is talking VIRGL the Engineer, its actually the Orbital multiplayer map from Halo 3. And if you hold left on the analogue stick towards the end of that scene, the camera cuts away to Buck picking a bug off one of the secret monkey men from Halo 3's campaign with the screen going black just as he goes to eat it.

If you look close at the start when you are dropping you can see the little ship master Chief is on at end of halo 2 going into the slip space with the cruiser

You should react to the terminals of the games. They contain information and lore about the halo universe. In Halo 3 odst there is a story in those terminals.

@@GamerJoobChannel There are significant changes to the cutscene where Dare and the Rookie encounter the engineer, not to mention what happens during the Data Hive mission if you locate all of the audio logs on Mombasa Streets.

@@genericscottishchannel1603 If you enter Data Hive after obtaining all the audio logs on Mombasa Streets, the officer doesn’t get killed by drones and instead accompanies you all the way to the brute pack with the plasma cannon chieftain. There, he opens the door that would otherwise be inaccessible to reveal the last audio log. In the cutscene with the engineer, the Rookie is the one who gets Dare to lower her gun and whistles to lure out the engineer.

I just noticed something in a cut scene I never did. When Veronika and buck are arguing on the highway and the engineer leaves - rookie raises his hand and finger trying waiting for permission to talk or interrupt

You should definitely watch the audio files from ODST. Basically, it's a nice side story that gives insight into how people were before the ODST's dropped and when the Covenant invaded and occupied the city.

Most Halo fans will probably hate me for this, but I always thought that Halo 3: ODST was one of the best Halo games out there. I wish there were more ODST games, but I guess since Halo 4's mass produced spartans this will never happen. I found the games cutscenes still enjoyable, even after seeing them like 10 times already, and after like 12 years :)

That's more likely than you think, in the book shadows of reach, which takes place right before halo infinite, it's mentioned that the unsc infinity is carrying a couple hundred ODSTs, meaning they're still around in good numbers. It's also likely that they'll be in halo infinite because they've shown up in a couple of mega construx sets in new colours, and we already know that infinite is going to have a lot of normal marines, so fingers crossed that means ODSTs as well.

I hope you noticed this takes place in between halo 2 and 3, specifically starting halo 2's second level after the prophet leaves and you follow through the portal. And Nathan Fillion best character

It actually all takes place during the middle and just after the end of Halo 2 and before Halo 3. The end of ODST takes place just after Johnson gets back to Earth (well the orbital station) and before Master Chief lands in the forest at the start of Halo 3.

The little groans at the begining when Buck reveals that Dare is Naval Intelligence are for a very good reason. ONI is terrifying in the Halo universe, they're KGB cross CIA and their leader for much of the Human-Covenant War, Admiral Margaret Parangosky was not a woman you wanted to trifle with, ONI has and continues to make people 'disappear'

Just played through ODST again, but got all the audio files. The cutscene in the Data Hive mission changes to having Rookie whistle for Vergil to come out of the computer. Bungie was so good with their game and story design.

Fun fact in Dutch's first mission. When you use a vehicle to cross that gap at the end, that vehicle will be used in the cutscene and then blow up at the end. So you can use a mongoose, warthog, or ghost. Not sure if you can do it with a wraith though

At 5:20 if you look directly between the Covenant Corvette and the space elevator you can see the UNSC In Amber Clad following it through the portal from the Metropolis mission in Halo 2.

The moments where you are viewed through a camera is where the “Superintendent” (the dumb (created through the “bottom-up route” where it’s hand crafted by a ton of computer data when compared to a “smart AI” where it’s created by the top-down route where it’s a complete scan of the human brain that creates a digital copy of the human in question.) AI that looks after the entire city) is looking at you, the “Superintendent” or “Vergil” is your friend throughout the entire game when you are alone or with other members of your squad.

Does she know that in one of the books, the Alpha-9 Squad, which is Buck, Romeo, etc, had to take a rescue op to rescue the rookie, because he got captured. But in the crossfire, the rookie took a bullet to the back of the head, he had no chance. I think Buck is the last member of Alpha-9 standing, who isn't either dead, or betrayed the UNSC.

There was a book released a couple years back that tells what happened to the members of Alpha Nine after the Created take over, Halo - Bad Blood. SPOILERS: Buck leaves Fireteam Osiris to reunite his old team. Mickey is taken out of prison, Dutch and his wife are now Spartans as well, Romeo is rescued from the Grunt homeworld, and Buck marries Veronica.

Halo 3 ODST took place of Halo 2 where the Frigate jumped with the Carrier to the Halo 2 map Delta Halo.....New Mombasa was abandoned which of course the elevator collapsed all over the Savannah when Halo 3 comes to be.....So deep in both games of Halo 2 and Halo 3, the ODST squad was stuck in New Mombasa fighting the covenant until after losing yet again to covenant carriers glassing the city in the end which you saw at the end of the game Also when you play legendary difficulty or "use to" you'd see a special ending to Sargeant Johnson speaking to the engineer ((Hope this was useful to your knowledge if some do not know the concept of Halo ODST which is explained by other RU-vidrs who played Halo as theorists)) ((Edit: The only time halo used knives was in Halo Reach, ODST (once), then Halo 4 but that's all I know for now))

Going to mention this because it didn't seem to click in the vid but right at the beginning where they drop this is another point of view of the new mombasa cutscene in halo2. If you look carefully you can see the ship with the master chief, miranda keyes and johnson are on catching up with it before it jumps.

ODST is what really got me into Halo lore. before that i just played the games like whatever, but ODST had such a good story about non spartans that it made me so interested in the lore as a whole. However, i do not consider 343 studios as canon halo lore. only bungie, just like it was supposed to be. remember when bungie said this is going to be the end of the story? yeah right.

Fun fact, Buck, Mickey, and Dutch are all voiced by well-known actors from the show Firefly - the voice actress for Dare has also been in a lot of other things.

Everyone is hoping for a sequel to this. All of these guys became Spartans, but unfortunately Rookie died in a book. Shitty storytelling on 343's part, but I believe if I'm not mistaken the rest of the team were aboard the infinity when it crashed on Delta Halo, during Halo Infinite's campaign. Would be nice to play as them once more.

I really liked ODST! it was unique compared to the others! The music was also so great!

It sucks that our character here eventually got executed by some rebel leader further down the canon story. Would've been nice to see him as a Spartan-IV along with Buck.

To me, this chapter's script and playability are really cool and make a distinction between this and other chapters. The cinematography is also great. The only thing I don't like is the parallel story you have to hear on the telephone booths in every chapter of this story; it is irrelevant and doesn't add anything useful for playability.

Sadly the story of the rookie just came to be dark in the end further on as he died because the rest of the squad hesitated to shoot the rebel citizens and was shot on the head.

Seeing Buck connect with Rookie is nice… until Rookie dies.

One of the worst writing decisions to date was killing the Rookie off screen in a book. It wasn't even a good death, he was caught by rebels and shot in the head. What a waste.

Theres other cutscene when You mete with the engineer Virgil if You Discovery allá the audio logs i'm mombasa theres gonna be a different cutscene with rokie and dare

if you didnt kill engineers in the game or verry few you will get a other cutscene when the rookie and dare enter the room where virgil is

Their is a fan made video where someone voices the rookie. It's incredibly funny, I'll post it when I can find it. Edit, it's called Halo 3 ODST but the rookie can talk.
