Im glad you and most every GW content creator called him out. Im a new player with 110 mastery points and knew most things he complained about had a solution in game. He clearly half assed the "review". A little patience, and reading or using wiki etc is all you need to get into the game. Its funny cause a lot of his complaints are also in every other mmos but just worse cause vertical progression treadmill, monthly costs , older graphic styles, longer grinds etc

well we can all agree on one thing: he certainly lived up to the "lazy" part of his online name that's for sure, I have 12,000+ hours in GW2 and in my 11 years of playing I've never seen such an at best 1/2 baked "review" of anything, let alone something as complicated as an MMO.

The funniest part is when he goes to metabattle and scrolls right by where the site correctly shows you that the build is COMPLEX AND DIFFICULT and then complains about it being complex and difficult. :/ wat? Really? If he just took 5 more minutes googling he could have found a low intensity elementalist build that he could have used to relearn and slowly build up over time. Ah well. I agree with you.

Gift of Exploration is not a good argument for maps completion. The individual completion chests of each map is the actual lucrative part. On Living World maps where there are no Renown Hearts, these maps can be speedran with beetle, skimmer and griffon to get map-specific currencies, Living World currencies, rare or exotic gear and a chance of Black Lion key from the completion chests, no combat needed. Making map exploration account-wide means taking away that reward system.

That video made me unubscribe to Lazy Peon. He reviewed the game as true to his youtube name, lazy. This is the second time he reviewed as such. The first time he received some backlash from the community so he went back and took more time to play the game and released a more honest review. At this point I don't think he cares whatever we say, I don't think he will retract that, he simply just don't like GW2, it's not his kind of game.

THANK YOU so much for making this video! I have watched A LOT of LazyPeon’s vids (in fact he’s one of the first content creators I followed), but his review this time seemed impatient (and to quote him) “really scuffed”.

There is a RPG review channel called "MitchManix" that actually goes in depth with every game he reviews. He reviewed GW2 some time back and he played core all the way to EoD and gave a review on each segment of the game he played. More review channels should be like his if they are going to get in to reviewing games. You gotta play the game in order to review it! Another good review channel is "Josh Strife Hayes" who reviews mainly MMOs, and also another channel that puts in the work to give a solid review of the game. Lazy Peon has shown more than once that he refuses to put in the work in order to be a decent review channel. He should just pick his game of choice and be a content creator for said game, I think it would do him much better than reviewing.

gw2 is alt friendly, not alt centric. just because u 100% the whole map, fully ascended gear and mastered one class to play in all end game content, it doesn't mean u beat the game and now u can freely do it with any other character. it has tons of perks doing it on an alt with all the masteries and mounts, personal knowledge and currencies etc. it IS friendly, but not centric, u have a main, if u wanna put an alt in pair with ur main, u'll have to work for it, thats it.

I'll just say that the SotO areas he shows look way less scuffed on my PC, which tells me that he had the graphic set to low. There's also the fog that tells me he has Post-processing turned on. While the latter is on as default the former is only on by default if you run a potato. Most current-generation PCs can run GW2 on good graphical settings without stuttering. To me, his experience of the graphics looking old and dated is a self-inflicted issue. He's running the game on low. My guess is that it helps reduce the lag in WvW and PvP which he likes to play. He should have read through the graphical settings and discovered the option to turn off fields and then adjust the graphical setting accordingly.

While yes, games should strive to ease players into its systems, in a genre as complex as MMOs, it's impossible to cover absolutely everything. The closest I've seen is FF14, where they have introductory quests for almost everything (transmog/glamour, gems, lfg, dungeons, auction house, etc). But even then, it doesn't go into detail about all the systems. You still need an outside source like a wiki. And I'd argue GW2's wiki is the most comprehensive and up-to-date wiki out of any MMO out there right now.

BTW one of the reason the game is alt friendly is bc leaving up is easy and what is one of the easy ways to level, MAP EXPLORATION!! "drop the mic and slap that scroll of knowledge!"

Also about the graphics the direct x11 feature opens up the possibility in the future that we can add image upscaling and sharpening through our graphics cards amd and nvidia are now busy doing so ive seen it on 16 and 32 bit games and it looked amazing

you are the first one that brought up the travel scrolls and tomes: thank you!!! most of 'em are for level 80 characters, but these are invaluable for speeding up travels on alts and not wanting to spend on the gem store

Loves the combat, loves the mounts. Hates map completion, which combines both. His review wastes more peoples time than he spent ingame.

i had to check my own account to see if you were accurate, I have played GW2 every day for the last 16 months, I have 458 mastery points rank 224 in wvw rank 1 pvp because i have never tried it yet, and 12,390 achievement points .. i quite like the game and love wvw

remember when we used to level just to get keys ? Pepperidge Farm Remembers i done map completion on all my characters - just to knock it out and be done . u can lazy do 3-4 zones depending on complexity / day so u can do whole map completion under a week and be done with it - im sure there are some gw2 pros that will boast doing it all in 1 day or something else crazy .

It is certainly interesting how every gw2 content creator is making the exact same video with different words. Doubly interesting when you consider that they’re doing it to criticize a creator for making a lazy or half-baked video.

I am a new player i started at the start of this year. And i also seen he wasnt really knowing what he was talking about. Only things i do agree with is arena net needing to. Redo some modes in core tyria. And the soto style story dialogues should be more like core tyria ones that makes the game more enjoyable.

96 mastery and 3k achievement point is like around 3 week for a casual player to get imo my friend just joined 2 week ago and he already 2k2 AP Aside from that, I do have to say, map competition and mule can be better improved by keeping fog cleared and waypoint unlock. keep the heart, vista and poi locked for world completion

I think his point about map completion is more about unlocking waypoints and I agree it would be better to get a few for free on an alt maybe locked behind map completion on the account. Gems to unlock the waypoints for one character is a bit much for what it is. A new player wouldn’t have an abundance of teleports and going through the xpac intro quests is a chore. Not saying they all should be shared but it would be nice to get Amnoon, Verdant Brink, and Seitung when you reach 80 and have completed the story or maps fully on the account.

You know, i use these teleport scrolls all the time on many characters, and it completely went over my head because Im so used to them.

He wants to kill the gear grind? That man played classic WoW, and he thinks killing the gear grind is a good idea? I believe giving people every option for free / conveniently (just but this 50 gold amulet for new stats) would make a new player's experience even more disorienting. The legendary armory is brilliant because that is convenince that is earned!

Living in Thailand, doing MMA and crypto/ stocks n trades, I dont think Lazy Peon feels the same about gaming as he used too.

That's not completely true, I have over 5000 hours my mastery is just over 400 and my achievement points haven't even reached 7000. This differs depending what players actually do in the game.

No I'm sorry, but don't give him credit for him not spending more than a few days of playing the game. An MMO should NOT be reviewed after a few days, It Should be reviewed after attempting to experience the entire game.

I gave it up after HoT and came back to it in 2020 and that's my only regret. I used to play only pvp and never really appreciated the rest of the content. Safe to say I was wrong. There can't be a gw3, I still haven't learnt to solo Arah 😢I need TIME! xD

0:50 I don't know about the review, but calling out his lack of mastery points and achievement points is BS. If you think a person needs to play a game for YEARS to get a sense of it for a review, you're not being in good faith. I will agree with you that you shouldn't make your decision whether to play this game based on a review like this, however you shouldn't also make your decision based on fanboys who have thousands of hours into the game. Take multiple views into consideration and then apply them to your own taste in games. That said, GW2 is still the best MMO I've ever played and I'm glad I came back to it 10 years later. It's been a bit of a pain because Arena Net hasn't made learning this now very different game very intuitive. The learning curve is real.

Well to be fair: bag space - gem store templates - gem store waypoints - gem store And for the legendary armory lets be real how long does it take to get full legendary? After all its an impression video, not a guide, not a review, not a test or whatever and if he got this impression playing the game, certainly a lot of other people will feel the same. Does the video do gw2 justice? no definetly not.

In all honesty, his channel went downhill in quality pretty hard for years. He sounds bored and annoyed in almost all his videos and very rarely does he actually appear to enjoy what he's doing and the problems he lists often times have very easy solutions that the game either TELLS you about or that a single click on the small help symbol gives you.. Or the game community basically has pinned at the top of whatever channels they use to communicate. He needs to find a new job he actually enjoys, to be honest. The burnout is real and it shines through in his content and almost everything he says.

Nothing wrong with LP's review. GW2 fans always butthurt. It's a first impression review so he is not required to spend hours just to find a solution. And also the game really looks old tbh when the main focus is about fashion wars and you have this old graphics it doesn't sell well to attract new players.

Meh. The chasm between his "review" and my own experience cannot be overstated. I honestly don't have a grasp on how GW2 is faring in terms of visibility these days (I just play the game) but it feels like he made the video to ride the wave of attention brought by SotO. The term "nominative determinism" has his photo as the definition.

I am just disaapointed that he didn't know enough to realise that he didn't know enough to make suggestions. he is usually solid, but this whole thing from him came across as half arsed and uncharitable. It was dissapointing.

He's lazy he's a peon and so am I , he has played dozens and dozens of MMORPGs over the years so why would he join the GW2 cult and worship the game like you people do? Why would he? It wouldn't be the Lazy Peon now would it? GW2 is a freakshow of endless grind, you have this tiny inventory that costs 'gold'. How do you make gold GW2 cultists when you don't have gold to buy decent gear? How do you make gold every hour on the hour to spend thousands of gold on decent gear for 'builds'? How do you get it? Without pulling out the credit card before you finished all of the expansions and have all of these 'builds' and maxed out all of the crafting abilities to 500 (how much gold does that take?). I'm not saying I don't play the game but I've had it for 3 to 4 years, I have three expansions, I don't have the obscure crap yet and I don't think I'll get it. The game is a money pit, let's face it. There is no subscription, but paying once is a lie, it's a farce. Who hasn't bought 'GEMS' with real world money in this game at one time or another if you have been playing it for years? I'm actually embarrassed to admit how much I've spent.

No new player like myself is going grind and buy gold just from some legnd gear. Annoying if you do wpvp and also like fractels always 2 different builds. Plus getting into raiding to get asended gear is horrible, They will be toxic to new playrs and not allow u join.

I mean, the guy placed ESO in A tier on his list lol. His taste is wack considering ESO is garbage with braindead easy pve content and virtually nonexistent ingame rewards. GW2 is superior in every aspect.

I like Lazy review of the game, and I understand where he comes from. Even on his takes that are wrong, the game does a bad job leading and teaching him this. A new player jumping in will feel the same, people don't got time or feel they should not have to look up on a wiki or video on how to do so and so. And getting new people to try and enjoy this game is a nightmare. One of the worse pet classes I seen in a mmo, and all the layers of to this game. It is just tedious unless you take huge amount of time to learn. Truth is, Lazy was wrong about his takes, but that does not matter. New players or people who pick it up once and awhile will feel the same as him in many aspects, even if they are wrong
