I worked for thrive waaaay back when we were developing that mascara. If you want it to apply more lightly, warm up the formula. The metal tube it’s in conducts heat, so I just stick it between my legs to warm up while I do my other makeup. Gives you more of an every-day look.

Ok I thought I was the only one who put mascara between their legs to warm it up!! I feel so seen. My holy grail is L'Oreal Voluminous followed by L'Oreal Million lashes. Perfect combo.

Sorry, I know this is off topic but I have some video topic ideas that I don't see anyone doing, but I'd love to see: rating sunscreens based on how fast and how much they dry down (for those of us that wear glasses - you know what I'm talking about!), using one mineral sunscreen to start the day but then reapplying with a different mineral sunscreen later (say if you have one you like to start the day with and one to keep in your bag), trying different setting sprays over mineral sunscreens, and definitely more videos about tinted sunscreen and foundation pairings.

love watching you two together! I've been fans for years! I do love the Thrive Cosmetics mascara - as someone who has had dry eye syndrome since age 7 and all of my eye doctors have told me to not wear eye makeup (yea right!) this is the ONLY mascara that does not irritate or bother my sensitive eyes.

I've switched to the glow recipe vit C serum which is gel like enough to be a very thin moisturizer for my skin so I put the eye patches after that. SPf is usually moisturizing enough to be the overall moizturize and eye cream. Not when you have dry skin though!

I do want to say though that the term "cruelty free" is not regulated just like "clean" beauty, but there are things like the leaping bunny certification that makes it more authentic

Thank you for bringing up the oil thing; I've really been confused about this exact topic of where to place an oil-based serum. It's runnier than my other serums so it's technically lighter than my water-based serums. So been thoroughly confused about where it should go... Before other serums, after other serums, or after moisturiser. What do you think? It's a THD ascorbate serum in a rosehip oil base.

I don’t like apps like that. They demonize ingredients by looking at them in extremes instead of the legal amounts that can be used, so it creates fear among consumers. These apps are funded by organizations and brands that benefit from this fear-based marketing.

I have a beagle and we want to rescue more as beagles are the #1 dog breed thats tested on but along with what Susan said you can be behind something or movement but you also need to understand the whole history of that movement and not ignorant to the meaning and start focus of that movement and not just want you want it to mean. I'm also not saying don't support or not support a brand but please be aware of the entire history of something before deciding to 100% commit to it.

I would love to see more reaction videos with cosmetic chemists such as Alex Educated Mess, talking about product formulations, ingredients and new technology in skincare. I love Nikki but I think sometimes the reactions on the makeup sections of this videos can be a bit boring...Also miss those reactions to subscribers routines with derms that Susan use to do :)

I think what she means is that companies will use ingredients that were once tested on animals, even if the company itself doesn’t test on animals. So their labs know the formulas to use because they were once tested on animals, so the labs don’t have to use animals anymore. Does that make sense? I’ve watched quite a few videos on it but I’m not an expert.

any brand sold in California, New York, the EU, Australia, South Korea, 30+ other countries and 10+ other states is "cruelty-free" or it would be illegal to sell those products in those places. testing on animals costs millions of dollars, and no one is gonna pay for that when they don't have to. it would be stupid (and before anyone says China, imported beauty products do NOT require animal safety data and haven't for a couple years). cruelty free cosmetics are a marketing myth. - regulatory compliance expert

Because they are, in most modern markets it is mandatory to be cruelty-free (most US states have laws mandating that, EU mandates that etc). What a brand allows someone else to do with their products in China doesn't really count.

@@olivegrneyes Most skincare is not made in China at all, also even if there was some brand from China wanting to enter the US market - the FDA won't re-test on animals, it's not part of the rules unless you are, as Susan said, bringing some completely new compound to the market.

Because I previously commented standing up for susan, I will also stand up for lola (not that they would see these messages) - I am 100% for the correct order of skincare application, but I think it's a bit mean to comment that she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. Seems like she just thought that hey, I have acne so I want to put on an acne product before my moisturizer
