Reacting to the WICKED MOVIE TRAILER | Initial Thoughts and Fears 

I think the whole thing with Dillamond being an actual goat goat rather than a people goat could also be them almost tieing back more to the original Gregory Maguire novel and how there wasn't meant to be any distinguishable features between Animals and animals, except that Animals can talk, and maybe going more into that angle of things potentially

I think that while this trailer does seem to show all the major plot beats, it’s wanting to build suspense on the music, so we got a taste and we can see where all the musical moments are, but they want to surprise us with how it actually sounds, but they really wanted to show us the world building and stylization. Honestly, I think it looks really good and I’m really excited.

i think the trailer comes off as giving everything away to ppl really familiar with the stage show, like we know how everything slots together. i've seen a lot of ppl who aren't familiar not be able to figure out the plot.

ALSO 8:20 she’s in a pink dress because it’s pink in the original wizard of oz!!! Glinda comes down in a pink bubble in a GIANT pink ball gown :) Silly goose :p everybody wandered/questioned why it was blue on stage in the first place

Animals and animals are supposed to be indistinguishable except for Animals can talk 😊 he’s bi-pedal on stage because well…it’s easier !

In the earlier trailer/behind the scenes that was released they have some glimpses at dance numbers including what I believe are from “what is this feeling?” Or “dancing through life”

Okay, so I wanna ease one of your fears hopefully. The whole reason the movie is split into two is because John didn't want to cut anything from the films while also adding 2 new songs. If you watch the passion project video they released before this it actually gives you a lot more footage of the musical performances and some clips from the trailer are actual musical scenes like the chandelier swinging and high kick are from popular. Some people have speculated that them running in the classroom is part of loathing you and bo staff fighting is either popular or loathing you as well. As far as the pink dress it is to match the MGM version more as you know. but there's an actual blue dress she wears seen in the leaks for this movie which I'm gonna assume is in part 2 or even later in part 1. I also disagree that they gave everything cuz they didn't especially since they're adding more elements from the book as well. Add that and the passion project clips I know they didn't show us everything they just needed everyone to know what a part of the main storyline is about. So this trailer dropped when I was ironically at work in a theatre and I've just been through this with you. It looks like they've brought a decent adaptation judging by this. Lots of potential to do great things and surprises. Design wise its looking great. We've waited so long for this and now is the time to start getting excited.

Boq is in it, so is Nessa and all of them, they’re shown in other trailers but I don’t think they’re showing Ethan bc of the controversy

Might be my weird brain but my take on all the broken glass was a metaphore for smashing the glass ceiling. I know they're windows not a ceiling but trying to overcome barriers and low expectations of her is definitely an Elphaba thing, so that was why I thought it was so emphasised in the trailer but who knows 😂

I'm pumped for this film, I am definitely getting tickets for opening night. I am very intrigued to see what they give to Michelle Yeoh for Madam Morrible; a far more compelling villain in the novel. As bad as the Wizard is, Madam Morrible is the real puppet master of Oz, and I really want to feel her malignancy in the film.

You can see Boq twice in the Teaser. Once in the Oz Dust Ballroom and then as the Tin Man with Dorothy. He's also very visible in the featurette.

They are not trying to downplay its musical component, to be honest I don't get where you got that from....it is a trailer - in musical movies of time gone by you have never got a full length song because as said trailers give you snippets just like this is.
