Why do people always get this wrong. Katniss did NOT support the capitol hunger games. It was an act, to get coin to trust her, so she could take her out later It's where she realises that Coin was the same as Snow. You really think that after everything the Games have cost her, she would put someone else through it. The books didn't do a very good job of explaining it, you have to read between the lines

Mockingjay was the perfect ending for the story. Because the author's message is that life can be beautiful again.

Suzanne Collins should make a hunger games book for each of the perspective of all the victors like Johanna and Finnick and Mags and all those other ones. Maybe even a perspective of Peeta Edit: Catching Fire was also my favorite

Gale was so different in the book from the movies, they made him more of a hero (He was not a hero) they made him a sweet guy (he was a JA) And they forced the relationship in the movies when he was just stupid in the books, there wasn't really much of a triangle in the book. Katniss she did start to have feeling for peeta at the very end of book one because when peeta ask her about it she did say "not all of it" was fake also in on the last page she said she was "dreading to let go of peeta's hand "when they were going back to district 12 . and I guess when the games ended and they went back home they kind of went on with their lives well I guess katniss did peeta still cared for her but toned it down a bit when realizing it was just an act with at the end of the games and that's why he seems so distance in book two .

I honestly hate Gale and love Peeta. Gale is so insensitive and doesn’t even care when Katniss is struggling to deal with Peeta being in the Capitol. He just says that he would never say something like that when Peeta is being manipulated. When Gale was being whipped Peeta joined in to try and save him and help Katniss help her friend. He doesn’t care what the difference are between him and someone else, he just tries to help out. that’s is why I ❤️ him so much.

We have the same opinions :D I think the whole trilogy is close to perfection, the love "triangle" (I don't really see it that way) is not painful to read, the things that happen are realistic, and characters actually die (compared to many YA books). But I might be biased because this is my favorite trilogy.

Peeta truly loved her he couldn’t live without her, I know Katness was doing it to survive but it was kinda sad. I love gale but i don’t think him and katniss should have been together because they are both too fiery and stubborn and katniss needed the softness of Peeta because she and gale were too alike. But I love gale and he wasn’t a piece of crap he deserved so much more

I stan Peeta and Katniss being together but it just bugs me how much Katniss went back and forth between him and Gale. There is a part of me that thinks if Gale didn't make those bombs that killed Prim then Katniss may have chosen Gale. I just feel like Peeta loved Katniss more than she loved him. I love Gale! I'm a 100% Katniss and Peeta shipper but when I reread the books i realized people miss judge him. He wanted to make sure everyone who was treated by the capitol horribly and made sure they were safe even if it meant sacrificing along the way he was able to do that. But he isn't perfect... obviously.

My thoughts on Gale and Peeta: Gale: Gale is pretty sweet, he is nice and listens when Katniss speaks her opinion, but he is better off as a hunting buddy/friend Peeta: Peeta is very kind for giving Katniss the bread and saving her life in the Games with the Star-Crossed lover thing. Peeta is very worthy of Katniss. I ship them together. You guys can ship whoever you want, it’s just characters from a book.

i feel like most people that think peeta is useless or whatever only saw the movies cuz they don’t really show the extent of what he did in them while in the books there’s a bigger understanding of peeta’s personality and how he manipulated people

am I the only person here whos obsessed w gale and ships everthorne? personally I think she should have ended up with gale since he had been in love with her and peeta never would have talked to her if it weren't for the games. peeta completely changed in Mockingjay and gale was the one who had stood by her since they were kids. lets be honest, hes the boy whos been in love with his best friend and had to watch her be with peeta on screen. it was never even revealed if it was gales bomb, and he NEVER would have intended to kill prim in the first place. i think right after she died, katniss felt guilty and was looking for someone to blame, and that fell on gale. i don't get why people hate gale. he protected her entire family during the games and made sure they were being taken care of. he had to watch his best friend who he was in love with "be with someone else on camera" and he still protected them. in Mockingjay, you can see how guilty he feels that he couldn't save prim because one of his top priorities was to make sure her family was safe. he was grieving too, and to have the love of his life push him away out of anger probably destroyed him. and he had to live his life and wake up every morning thinking she was happy without him. he put his own happiness and feelings aside for katniss, and actually left her alone because even though it hurt him, he thought it would make her happy. even if it meant throwing his happiness down the drain he loved her so much that he did it. and he tried to hard to be there for her. he was always the one that was there for her since the beginning. and the games and war forced everyone to grow up so fast so its understandable that he might be a bit more agressive because thats probably his coping mechanism. and i mean she wouldnt have kissed him so many times if it seriously meant NOTHING to her. he literaly got up and left even though it pained him because he thought the woman he loved for years hated him. and he respected that and left. if you seriously can't see how amazing and strong he is then idk what to tell you.

I went full on denial when Finnick died. 20 pages I went on and did not understand why he was so quiet and then I had to go back and I died. I was on a plane! It hurt. It hurt so much

Peeta was weak? he literally murdered people (not as many as katniss but whatever). Not to mention was LITERALLY strong that was his talent. Also he overcame an abusive mother, the hunger games twice, capitol torture, fighting in a revolution, and hijacking. He lost his whole family too. He was so strong? One of the strongest.

When I was young Prim’s death shocked me the most. When I got older I realized that she was kinda fated to die the moment her name was pulled, it was just put off for a while. It was ironic that Katniss went through everything she did just to have the one person she did it all for to be killed. I hated how Peeta got hijacked but I liked how it made it so they could both fall in love with each other at the end. Peeta was always in love with Katniss. Then Katniss was in love with Peeta, but she was always so confused by her own feelings. I’m biased though because I’ve been in love with Josh Hutcherson since Journey to The Center of The Earth and Zathura. I disagree with those who said that Katniss only liked Gale because what he did for her family. That agreement was already in place, she would have done the same for his family. She liked Gale because she felt like she actually had a choice, with Peeta she didn’t like that her ability to choose had been taken away & it made her resent him.

I would like to state, Katniss and haymitch realised that she needed to kill coin when they were deciding about the capitol hunger games and went along with it to keep the suspisions down....

Guys listen up, the reason gale seemed to put the war first was cuz he cared so much. Gale believed that if they win the war then it would make the world better for the majority. Yes that meant sacrificing some (but hey this is a war which I think many people forget). You win a war with your head not your heart, however that doesn’t mean you don’t care about others. Gale sees the big picture of whole the world could change for the better by if the rebellion overthrowed the capital, unlike peeta and katniss who would think more on the individual scale (due to sharedhunger games trauma). So I’m my opinion that why I don’t see katniss and peeta working as a relationship, they wouldn’t get anything done (Nothing against peeta, i think they’re both great people). The the fact that how they’re relationship is based off of shared hunger hunger games trauma feels slightly troublesome to me. Yes i know this would mean they heal together but to me it seems like they would struggle moving on from the games as their all they know about each other is based off of the games which would mean they would be constantly thinking back to it, (something they would ideally want to forget as much as possible). Gale on the other hand she could move on with. He could help her start a new life that was trauma free. Katniss and gale are not as similar as everyone says they are. Gale is good for katniss, he brings her back down to reality (it’s more than just the games) and he can bring her back to thinking about the big picture, bringing her back to reality and that everything has a purpose. On the other hand katniss can remind gale about every person individually. And the fact that they bonded since childhood helps (they had a connection before the games/ war (trauma) started). People blame gale for prims death, even though it wasn’t entirely his responsibly. Sure Gale helped to designed the bomb (Note: key word HELPED), yes that’s right it wasn’t just gale who was in par with the bomb strategy. Gale wasn’t designing bombs for fun (like many people seem to act like he’s doing). I think many readers (and even Katniss herself) at times forgets that by book three they’re not in the hunger games war. This is a full blow war/ rebellion. Not killing someone could be the result of the fall of the entire nation, whereas in the games not killing someone would just impact you losing your own life (you not winning. Gale was simply a pawn in coins messed up plan to come up with a good bombing strategy against the capital. Gale got sucked up in coins run to gain power. Gale wasn’t doing in the Revolution for greed or power. He was in because he believed in the cause so strongly, (it would improve the districts life etc). It wasn’t gales fault that they had a corrupt leader (coin). Gale thought his bombing strategy him and beetee helped to design would be used against the capital. (He didn’t know it would be used solely on children or on their own medics). Prim wasn’t even suppost to be there for a start. Coin purposely sent prim (an underage medic) knowing she was sending her to her death just to make katniss think that snow had killed prim. And lastly, people blame gale for walking away from Katniss at the end. But like what was he suppost to do?? He just realised that the bomb he helped to design (along with other members of the rebellion) which has just lead to prim dying. Because gale knew just how much katniss’s family meant to katniss, they had been providing for each others families for years. Now gale would see himself as prims murderer and every time he would look at katniss and katniss looked at him they would be reminded by how the bomb he had helped to design for the war had caught prim in the blast. They would be reminded of the hardship and that if he hadn’t helped make the bomb prim may not have died. Which is unlikely in my opinion, coin would have found another way to kill prim because that’s the sort of person she is, but due to their personal connection the fact that gale role in the bombing, small as it was, but he was part of it. The bomb got in the way of their relationship ever developing further. Gale by walking and starting a new life he was doing it for both of them. He was giving katniss and himself the chance to both start a new life of their own, away from the war hardship because katniss would always choose prim first, over anyone else. Katniss and gale may have still worked afterwards but as Collin’s wanted to wrap the love triangle up as lazy as possible she had to throw gale out of the picture without even giving him a proper goodbye or ending. In conclusion, even though I am team gale I honestly I partly see Katniss with neither after the war. Shipping katniss with peeta at the end is the obvious, simple choice in my opinion. Gale left and peeta was just there. All the better to ship the two ‘star cross’d’ characters that started it all. To me it seemed like Katniss chose peeta simply because he was there. She knew that peeta wanted her so she went to peeta. Collinsmade gale leave so katniss did not have to decide between the two as gale wanted katniss also and katniss was confused and wanted/ cared for both of them. The epilogue was a piece of garbage that honestly is just katniss sounding like she’s died inside, she’s married to peeta with two kids.. you’d think she’d be happy right? But.. peeta pressured katniss into having kids even though katniss didn’t really want them and she loves her family so much that she didn’t even mention her names, sounds like one dead marriage to me lmao. I liked Mockingjay but I far more enjoyed Catching Fire and THG because of The Hunger Games taking place and Finnick is NOT overrated, I would love to also read his Hunger Games amongst others, it would be so interesting

I think Gale’s the best because of the way he told Katniss he loved her. He said they were eating at the Hob and there was a Peacekeeper who ate there a lot who was playing with Katniss’s hair and that he was talking about how he thought a kiss was a good trade for a rabbit, and Gale got angry and that’s when he realized he loved her. Meanwhile, Peeta just announced that he liked to stalk her on her way home from school on live television🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

As an asexual person who really ships everlark Katniss could 100% be ace and still be with peeta. Asexual means you don't have SEXUAL feelings/desire NOT romantic (no romantic feelings is aromantic or aro). Also you can still have sex and be asexual theres just no real drive to have it but people still can/do for ppl they are with. Also peeta could be ace himself or at least cool with it. not to mention she could also just not be ace.

If anyone was wondering why Katniss was in favor of the symbolic hunger games, it was because she needed to earn coin’s trust so she could kill her. In the books she even says something like I have to do this for Prim because if she voted yes she could avenge her. When Haymitch also took a yes vote he said “I’m with the mockingjay.”

also, abt katniss supporting coin's idead of a new hunger games, i feel like she only did that to see how far would coin go. she never truly trusted coin, so in my mind she was like... testing her, but i also feel like katniss supporting coin idea was only a way to pretend she supported her (cuz, like boggs once said, if she her first thought was not to support coin, she would´ve been dead).
