Unpopular opinion: rues death, however sad, was perfect in timing and execution because that was the first sign of rebellion before the berries. It also led to thresh saving her life sooooooo. (I cried so hard still)
Caroline totally agree. It's kinda the first fully played out example of the capitals cruelty. It makes you think of Prim, reminds you why Katniss is there, and causes Katnisses true act of rebellion (volunteering totally doesn't count bc it's part of the capitals games). You can still be really sad that Rue died and recognize that it needed to happen and it needed to happen at that moment.
Finnick dying literally shook me as a 10 year old... I threw the book into the kitchen from my bedroom and cried... I love Finnick so after him dying I feel like Prims death didn’t have as much of an impact for me (especially in the books)
Being allowed to volunteer adds such a cool (and cruel) element to the games. It allows for the idea of certain people who buy into the idea of the games (districts 1,2, & 4). It adds the idea that you aren't totally doomed to be in the games if you're chosen, only to crush your feeble hopes when no one will take your place. It can cause a feeling of betrayal among siblings if someone doesn't volunteer for another, but also a horrible understanding between them that they would all preserve their own life rather than take another's place. I think it's really cool, and I can almost see situations where a sibling of the other gender would volunteer purely to protect the one unlucky enough to be chosen, know that they both can't survive. I imagine it's more entertaining for the capital if there's that added element of those that choose to be there (enthusiastically or otherwise).
I am so Mad that everyone always says that peta is useless when he is now literally my fave character I mean he was tortured psychologically to hate Katniss but still saves her and district 13. Along with that I think that Katniss always loved peta but didnt realise her emotions until she nearly lost him
Yesterday I finished listening to the audiobook of Mockingjay for the first time! I listened to the audiobooks for the whole trilogy in just a week. I loved the books so much!
5:16 I would have liked to see the prep team tortured in 13 cause it already shows how far Coin can go, but I also love that Effie was in 13 in the movies
I think that people forget just how old they are in the books and movies. They are 16-17 Peeta could've had a growth spurt after mockingjay and in between the epilogue.
To have a huge reader and Hunger Games fan for my role model... We are all blessed with the sweetness of this girl, and her amazing content. Love you Peyton!❤❤❤
Peeta is too kind and considerate to pressure anybody, especially the love of his life, into doing anything. I think it took time, for Katniss to truly get over the trauma the Hunger Games put on her, and to realize that 'hey, this is really over for good.'
I love your videos ❤️ You and your boyfriend are so cute together 😊 I love the Hunger Games 🏹 it’s my favorite trilogy of all time and Mockingjay is my favorite book of all time
I’ve always thought that the pointlessness of Finnick’s death was the whole point. War is often senseless, and we lose so many things for no good reason. I love Finnick and am so sad he died, but I feel like the death serves as a strong message.
this was just a thought that came into my head😂😂but what if someone volunteered for someone who wanted to go in the games?? Like obviously this would only be in the career districts but like what would happen?😂😂
The volunteer would get to go into the games. In Catching Fire when Katniss asks Haymitch to take Peeta's place should he get chosen he said: "If I get picked and Peeta volunteers for me, there’s nothing I can do." So I guess the volunteers would always have the stronger claim, so to speak.
I think the problem is that Katniss is not described how JL looks. She's also obviously older. Not unusual there but a lot of potential people werent even given the chance to addition
Bookstrict9Tribute I can see that but most adaptations have characters that aren’t shown how they’re described in the books, I think it’s more important to see what an actor can bring to the character
I can see why people have issues with Josh and Jennifer playing Peeta and Katniss. I also kind of agree because in my opinion they looked too old to be playing these characters. In the first movie they were supposed to be 16 but they made the characters look like they were way older. Same with in Catching Fire, they were supposed to be 17 but they ended up looking way older. The movies can shape and change the way of how we imagine these characters and since they actors look older, when we re-read the books, we might imagine them as older. In terms of acting skills, though, they were amazing, but in terms of looks, yeah I kind of wish people younger were the ones playing the roles.
I agree that the careers should not be shamed; they really didn't know better and they wanted the reward. They were risking their lives, and I don't think they actually wanted to kill people, I think they wanted the rush and the reward.
Id say the only reason that people would say that Jennifer Lawrence shouldnt have been Katniss is because the description of Katniss was of an indigenous person and Jennifer is white
I understand that but I think that’s just a theory people came up with, I’m not sure that Suzanne Collins intended for her to be indigenous? It would’ve been cool if she was but I don’t get why people are upset over it when it was never confirmed by the author?
I think the main issue people take with JLaw is that she doesn't fit the book description of Katniss; it would have been great to give a Native American actress the part (as many read Katniss as Native). It's got nothing to do with height or chemistry.
I'm confused at this native American discourse. I wouldn't have hated it obviously but all that was said in the book was that she was olive skinned but that doesn't automatically mean she was native American.
@@Melted-Kuchi-kopi Skin tone wise she COULD have been half Native American on her father's side. Plus, District 12 is clearly separated in the merchant class who all seem to be white with blond hair and the seam who all have "olive" skin and grey eyes. This possibly could have been a link to separating different races - because what else makes the merchant class appearance wise different from the seam? Katniss can clearly tell both apart easily and I doubt it's the eye colour. A class based separation only wouldn't have such a distinct (and consistent - all seam characters have a similar physical appearance) difference in appearance. It's not the only way to read the books, of course. But it's one analysis that explains the strong separation in the books. Could Katniss have been white and the separation simply class based? Sure. It's not how I read the books, but possibly could have been the case. The theory is also quite popular because Hollywood loves to erase POC out of their movies and especially in YA Dystopia where, for identification purposes of the young female (white) audience, it helps to have Katniss look like the average reader of the series.
@@Melted-Kuchi-kopi Not really. She just said that the ideal Katniss only exists in her mind, but that JLaw came close. IIRC she also said Katniss in the books has been kept ambiguous so everyone can identify with her. I don't have any sources for these statements though. I don't think she ever specifically said Katniss is white or is x race. Lastly, I understand author intention is important, but eh.. the text belongs to the reader, too, and IMO people can read whatever race into Katniss they want to as long as they respect other interpretations 🤷♀️✌
We don't need books abute the people be already know a lot about, snow we only know what katness know, ase long snow is not at hero, as we normally think about Heroes. last but not least your brother, He's so cute!!!
My unpopular opinion is... I don't like the hunger games at all😞 it's because I watched the movies first and I don't like Jennifer Lawrence so I also didn't want to catch up with the books, because I always have her in mind while reading 😅
I think you´re being unfair to judge this series just because of the movies and the actress. Even though I love the movies and think that Jennifer Lawrence is amazing as Katniss, the books are so much better
