I'm 38, grew up in Ontario, Canada, now living in Alberta. No wall quotes, no toilet covers (ew), but my grandma did have the squishy vinyl seat in the 80's and 90's. She also had crocheted toilet paper roll covers. I miss my grandma. You know who does have cutesy bathroom signs here? Antique stores.

I'm 27, and I'm from Wyoming. Growing up, we usually had fuzzy toilet seat covers that matched the rug. My parents still do. I think my grandparents had the padded toilet seat. I personally don't have a toilet seat cover or any quote art. And I find this whole conversation weirdly hilarious.

I have toilet seat covers. It’s just the way I grew up. 26, North Texas. A bathroom doesn’t feel complete to me without one. Having just a plain toilet without anything on it seems odd to me. But like I said I’m 26 with a soul who’s 95. 😂

I’m 19 and from Saskatchewan Canada, and toilet seat covers are rare, but a vinyl squishy toilet seat is something that I’ve seen a few times at older people’s houses in the early 2000s. Wall quotes are super common still.

Czech citizen here. Both sets of my grandparents used to have one (like 15 years ago), but not anymore. I never see toilet seat covers anywhere. I'm 24. The grandparents did have some quotes up on the walls (more jokes than inspirational ones).

34 yrs old. Lived my whole life in NW Oregon. We always had the toilet lid cover that matched the rugs growing up. Someone I know, but can't remember who, had the squishy vinyl seats. I have no covers, no quotes, no vinyl now.

Growing up in Pa in 70's, we had 1 bathroom for 4 people. Always had padded seat and various covers with lace, fake fur, cloth, ... Plus the cover for the spare toilet paper roll. I am in NC now and don't use covers but i am a wall quoter. Lol

I'm 21 from the East Midlands, Nottingham, UK and only old people have toilet seat covers in general. We have one quote on the walls in our house "Ohana means family" with a watercolour stitch beneath it. I got it for my mum because lilo and stitch is a special film to us and family has always been the most important thing in the world to us

I remember the toilet lid covers from the 70s and 80s in Australia. Something else is toilet roll dolls. With a knitted skirt that covers the spare toilet roll and a plastic doll attached to the skirt.

32 years old. I am of the opinion that the more in the bathroom, the more fecal and urine matter can disburse and latch on to. My decoration is minimal and on the walls (basic bathroom quotes lol) and very little on counter tops etc.

Canada here, during the 80's my mom had decorative covers on the toilets. Later on she changed to seats that were more "fancy" looking, like the one on the main floor being made of wood.

Born and raised in CA (still here lol), we rarely use covers. Maybe a like microfiber thing on the lid in the early 2000s in a suburban mom's home but I've only encountered those twice in my life (and my anxious gut/bladder has seen a lot lol). Seashells, however...EVERYWHERE. Could be as inland as San Bernardino and there's seashells in the bathroom lol

My wife's aunt had a summer shack on the beach in Fairhaven Massachusetts. The quote on the toilet wall was please "flush with a buddy". No septic or town service.

My mum has two toilet seat covers that we use around Christmas. We are from western PA. One of our covers is very similar to that Santa one in the video! The top has Santa smiling and says, "ho ho ho". The inside has Santa holding his nose and says, "oh oh oh."

I’m 26 from Cleveland, OH and I’m anti-written decor AND anti toilet seat cover. I remember my family having toilet seat covers as a kid and my mom and aunts all have SHITLOADS of written decor. The padded toilet seat makes me uncomfortable and I remember getting pinched by it as a kid

I'm one year older than Rhett and Link and from Spain. I never saw a toilet seat cover until I moved to Japan in the early 2000s (neither at home nor at my friends houses). I was stunned and quite revolted tbh when I came to know of their existence). Never used inspirational quotes either. Btw, it's nice when people actually respond to the question instead of making unrelated comments.

I’d say that toilet covers were really popular here in Eastern Europe, especially Slavic countries. I remember my still having them through the 2000s but not anymore once my family moved into a newly built house. But people living in old houses and in flats still have those today.

I'm Dutch, and most decorated toilet seats I've seen just had a sticker on them, which seems to be the more sanitized idea for pimping your toilet. My parents had a tile with the quote: "Wereld is nait roazend moakt." Which roughly translates to: "The world wasn't created hastily." and is a phrase used to tell people to take it easy. (Note: the quote is in the dialect of the province Groningen.)

Born 1995, grew up in a small town in Montana and we always had the matching toilet seat cover, toilet rug, and bathrug set. We have never had quotes on the wall. We had a squishy seat for like 6 months but the cracks pinched our butts and we got rid of it. I now live in Washington near the coast and I dont have one and still don't have quotes on the wall.

Australia. 80s. Sat in a pink shag carpeted loo with a matching cover and rug. The walls were painted soft pink with strips of rose wallpaper. Pink doll loo roll cover. This episode brings back such memories.

i’m 19 and from kansas; while living with my dad and sister when i was around 12, my dad put a memory foam toilet seat cover on the toilet lid in our bathroom since we both shared one. when one of us was drying our hair or brushing our teeth, we could sit on the toilet and be a bit more comfortable! i know it doesn’t seem like much, but to both of us, we were really appreciative of it:)

Good actual morning, all! I live in Rhode Island, and grew up in a house that always had the matching rug and toilet seat cover. I'm 59 now, and have zero toilet seat covers, but do have contour rug and bath mat on the floor, that are frequently laundered. The only thing approaching an inspirational quote on my walls, is a framed block-print of the TARDIS with the phrase "You never forget your first dr" - it was a gift from a dear friend (I have no desire to buy inspirational quotes.)

In New England, we tend to lean to phrases and definite coastal beach themed bathrooms. Lots of starfish and sand in candle holders. Phrases like "Fun in the Sun" or like "Sunshine Day!" The top of the back of the of is for storing lotions, candles or tissue boxes

Had the seat covers growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. I lived in Northern VA, but my mother was from Greensboro, NC. We had one very similar to the Christmas one, but most were like a shag bathroom rug material on the seat and tank cover.

Growing up in the 70s we had a toilet cover with a matching rug. I have inspirational quotes. I'm 50. I live in Tennessee. I have no cover. It's gross. Even as a kid I knew it was gross. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

My grandparents (80's) had simple toilet seat covers with matching back cover and floor rug in both bathrooms. Grandma is midwestern and grandpa grew up in Kentucky.

I work retail, and every time someone is looking for the toilet seat covers I shudder. But, honestly, I see mostly older shoppers wanting seat covers.

I'm 35, from MN, and grew up with toilet seat covers (shag like bathroom floor towels) and wall quotes in the bathroom. The bathroom was an older bathroom with a hard top. When my parents replaced it, they got a plastic cover and did not use a seat cover on it. I don't have quotes nor seat covers in my place and probably won't. lol

My toilette seat is heated and the warmth is adjustable. I can spend a good 30 mins just sitting and watching RU-vid or Tiktok enjoying the butt heat

I also have a adjustable heat toilet seat and while I don't sit there for 30 minutes like Mark, it is *wonderful* when going in the middle of the night and not having to sit on an ice cold porcelain seat!!

In Newfoundland, Canada, almost every mom has those live laugh love things on their walls and toilet seat covers are common amongst the older population

Grew up in Kentucky. Always had toilet seat covers, lots of inspirational quotes on the wall, all padded toilet seats. Currently 30 years old. When I got my first place I was so proud of my matching bathroom set. One day I heard or read someone talking about how gross toilet seat covers are. I was shocked, I had never once considered that… Haven’t had once since.

I'm a millennial and remember my southern great-grandmothers and grandmothers had padded seats and handmade crocheted covers. My parents never had that in our house growing up and I certainly don't want anything absorbent near the toilet. 🥴

I live in GA but I grew up in MO. I'm in my 40s now but when I was a kid, we had the full thing - seat cover, the special bath mat with the arms and then the regular bath mat. I kept that tradition for a while when I moved to GA for college but I quit doing the seat cover and special floor mat maybe 17 years ago or so when I moved from North GA to the Atlanta area in my mid-20s.

I’m 22, I live in the Midwest. None of the houses I’ve *lived* in had carpeted bathrooms, toilet covers or those toilet wrap rugs, however a couple older relatives of mine (like my grandmother and great aunts) have had the toilet wrap rugs and toilet covers.

Young southern woman here- every old person's house I visited in the 90's and early 2000's had a matching shag rug set on the toilet lid and around the base on the floor, as well as a vinyl squishy seat. It was always paired with a very dusty and old glass bowl of potpourri

Born in the South, still in the South. No toilet seat covers now, but growing up in the 90's everyone had one! And it always matched the towels and bath mat! Again, no seat covers in my house but I do have a couple of wall quotes because I'm a proper southern woman! lol.

Back in the 70's and 80's in chicago we had all of those, padded seat and toilet covers with matching rugs. Have not seen anyone have those in years.

My childhood home used to have a toilet seat cover that matched the rugs in the bathroom. They came in a set: One normal rug, one of those weird shaped rugs that looks like a "U" that goes around the toilet, and one toilet seat cover. Anyone else?

My grandparents lived their whole lives in Michigan and their house had all of the quotes on the walls and always a toilet seat cover and even one on the back of the toilet too. And a padded seat. All of the covers lol

Growing up in the early 2000s I lived in a very small farming town in northern Michigan where everyone's parents and grandparents had toilet seat covers. Now living in TN at 22 yrs old, I only ever see them in homes of people who are 60 years old or older.

I'm from the Midwest (Iowa). We had no inspirational quotes anywhere in our home growing up, but my parents' master bathroom toilet had a cover from around 2000 to the mid 2010s. It was not decorative - I think the point was to reduce the coldness - like, not that you were supposed to sit your bare butt on the toilet seat, but so that the cold porcelain couldn't be felt through your pants if you were sitting on the toilet lid. I never really thought about it, tbh.

my mom (49 mexican mom living in Texas) has one that came in a toilet/bathroom rug set. BUT she also has a couple of Christmas ones like in the video. My mom's had them since i was little, so she either got them from a garage sale or my aunt brought them from Mexico.

Grew up in the Midwest. Mom had the matching seat cover/rug thing going on. Nothing inspirational on the wall. Instead, bathroom had a small magazine holder where the Reader’s Digest, Farmer’s Almanac, and assorted magazines were kept.
