XG is SO good, they've been training together for so long and they're so unique. I hope you get to react to their unit songs, showcasing their rap and vocals
The Japanese music market is very isolationist (just look at their copyright striking) so XG is based in SK so they can utilize the kpop industry platform globally. They perform on Korean music shows to promote more to a global audience than they could’ve in Japan. Back when I listened to more jpop, it was always harder to find content
so true. i started listening to jpop back in middle school to high school. a lot of jpop artist had full version contents before til their label or agency only show short versions or region restriction... they need to market like kpop market if they wanna expand their music popularity. just saying. but i do still listen to old and new jpop and jrock here and there.
With their approach going global..imagine if they are based in the US..Will probably blow up a lot quicker..it’s just too far for the girls to travel back and forth to japan
Their Exec PD of their label (Simon aka Jakops) is half-Japanese and Korean, former Kpop idol Rapper in 2nd generation BG Dalamation, born in Seattle. He knows the kpop platform and infrastructure will speed up their global reach snd content that is impossible in the closed Jpop industry, but knows that English language is a must to optimize growth and reach in popularity. It's actually a remarkable task to make a Japanese group singing only in English, performing on all the Korean music shows. There is a geopolitical angle to also overcome, this from 80 years ago when Imperial Japan occupied Korean for 50 years and did horrible things. But from a production point of view, If XG can pull this off, all in English, they will truly be a global group, and won't have to localize songs, mvs, and promotions separately for Japan, Korea and US like most Kpop groups do, and the world in local languages, just like all the US, Europe, and other Pop acts do, they perform in English only. They will be performing at Kcon Japan May 13, 2023 and in New York at Head in the Clouds festival on 5/21, most likely with a release of the Left Right Remix with Jackson Wang and Ciara (whose partner is Russell Wilson, former Quarterbak of the Seattle Seahawks for years, now with Denver Broncos. Jackson and Ciara performed together at Coachella, and previewed a Left Right remix on stage, while they showed XG's MV on the big screen behind them. They may also perform their remix of Shooting Star featuring the American/Puerto Rican Rapper Rico Nasty, perhaps at HITC NY 5/21.
Left Right is growing in popularity in the US. On the radio and everything. ALSO they dropped a remix recently with Rico Nasty. AND Jackson Wang performed another remix it seems with Ciara at Coachella. So…. They’re about to blow up.
Boys World and Flo are two English speaking girl groups I love! FLO is definitely more popular though but they’re both top tier! If you want to learn more about XG they have a documentary series releasing on their RU-vid. Simon, who put them together, is Korean-Japanese and is pretty interesting. He talks about how he is doing something new with XG with the English songs, being based in Korea with Japanese members etc Also Jackson Wang just performed left right last night with Ciara at Coachella 🙊
I absolutely loved Left Right. I think its my favorite song so far from this year from any group. It reminds me of songs from my childhood. Its already a good song and they nostalgia factor multiplied it. I believe XG is gonna be the next big thing. Its only a matter of time and consistency imo
XG is absolutely the Dream Team. They’ve continually proved they are ALL ROUNDERS. During an INTERVIEW they officially refer to themselves as XPOP. Everything they’ve posted is 🔥. They will be performing in NYC 88 RISING in MAY 2023’. . I became a fan right after watching their FIRST DANCE PERFORMANCE… Move #1. Even the rap line can sing and they absolutely DANCE 🕺🏻 LIKE A CREW. Thanks for sharing your support with your Reaction.
XG is supertalented. They have the vocals, raps, dance, swag, the sync, visuals, and genuine attitude. They are just naturally fun to watch. They were briefly featured on Coachella 2023. Thanks to Jackson Wang, Ciara and Jakops.
XG's producer Simon proclaimed, "They are X-POP."🔥🔥🔥 I don't listen to music by genre or culture, so to be honest, I'm tired of the debate over whether XG is J-POP or K-POP. My answer is "XG is 7 talented girls singing and dancing".👽💗🐺 Thanks for your support and reaction to XG.
Their music and vibes are so fun! They use the budget they have so cleverly and also have maybe my favorite exploration of the Y2K concept, so fun and joyous!
I loooove XG! Every song from them is literally a banger and I hope they'll remain this high standard! My favorite songs are probably Tippy Toes and Shooting Star
I think "their formula (training, dancing, singing, performing) is taking a lot from kpop" is not 100% correct bcs Japan have their girl groups like this for a long time, and also idol group culture started from Japan. Like groups from LDH (a entertainment comany) they all have powerful dancing and singing skills even more professional than most of kpop groups. XG is from AVEX and this company was founded in 1973, one of the biggest music companies in the world, they have really big music artists like Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki, these are national diva singers of Japan and they are very good dancers too. I'm sure their company do know how to train XG's singing and dancing.
left right is my fav but it took a little growing! I actually didn’t think much of tippy toes or mascara either when they came out, it was shooting star that finally blew me away and sucked me in, then I went back and realized those first two tracks were way better than I gave them credit for 😳 I think it’s just that sometimes I don’t have room in my life for a new group bc I’m feeling overwhelmed and then later when things calm down I’m ready but also shooting star and left right are 10/10 and the other two songs I had some nitpicks that keep them from being 10s
I'm excited for you to discover XG! Their rap cypher includes the girls rapping a blend of English, Korean, and Japanese. They have some serious skills!
They are a global girl group with Japanese members and base in Korea. This is the case because K-pop industry has infrastructure that could leverage XG to global.
LOL Dylan had me DYING so much this reaction. my favourite moment was when you said for mascara you figured out the real meaning of hte song later using context clues and i said to myself 'you mean you listened to hte lyrics? LOL. I love XG so much. And honestly I totally agree withy ou the fact that they sing in English (and the key difference is their english sounds way more confident and natural) truly is revolutionary for fans of Kpop.
I'm in love with this girls It's been a while when I have such a warm feelings to the group MISS YURIN. TAKING MY HEART WITH 'I GOT WHAT YOU WANT I GOT WHAT YOU NEED'.
YESSSSSSS finally !!!! they’re so amazing i’ve been a fan since mascara, they’re insanely talented, i’m so happy they’re getting the recognition they deserve 😭🤍 i knew you were gonna like them too. Another girlgroup you should check out is tripleS! they’re under the company of the dude that produced Loona in their beginnings !! they’re great 🫶
XG is like a dream team. Elite dance crew, elite rapline, elite vocals. Check out XG's legendary cypher that went viral ""XG TAPE #2 GALZ XYPHER (COCONA, MAYA, HARVEY, JURIN)" XG can actually spit 🔥 like some true G's. Its nothing like your typical girl group "rapping." At Coachella yesterday Jackson Wang & the R&B legend Ciara performed a remix to XG's Left Right that still has everyone mind blown. Left Right is currently #39 on the American Top 40 Chart and #28 on the U.S. Pop Radio Chart
Funny that you mentioned it but some many other people have said Harvey reminds us of Camilla cabello 😭 her face and unique voice are mainly reasons why lmao
I can't call myself their fan (yet) but what peaked my interest for XG was "Left Right". IMHO it's by far their best song and choreography was pretty much spot on. It's crazy to me that it's a B-side (or bonus track). Such an easy listen anytime, anywhere.
Dylan, I’m so glad you checked XG!!! You are almost caught up on all the ggs who debuted last year, I think you are only missing Kep1er and NMIXX (definitely check them out)
Just so you know they are slowly releasing their documentary so far we only have episode 0 but it does a good job of explaining their goals and concept.
hi dylan! i love this video sm xg is amazing!! so abt the kpop generation thing kpop still have only 4 generations we are actually in 4th generation that started in 2017/2018 so aespa and xg are in the same generation! the kpop generations starts with a big musically change and we don’t have a group that changed the type of music that 4th gen are doing now
Just discovered XG myself. So far I like every song and video with Left Right being my favorite song, Shooting Star fav, video. Looking forward to more from them.
FYI Shooting Star MV: Quick breakdown about the opening scene of the members wearing Kitsune wolf masks (referencing ALPHAZ - fandom name) where they're packing receipts as zoomed in at the 'minute and twenty-seven' mark of the MV. The receipt states each members ideals exemplified in the MV by the late 90's Harajuku Culture demonstrated by their individual slogans on the airbrushed shirts. 01 Diversity And No Hatred = Jurin 02 Energy To Move On = Chisa 03 A Piece Of Peace = Hinata 04 Inspirational Mood = Harvey 05 Love, And More Love = Juria 06 Joyful Vibe = Maya 07 Confidence To Do Smth Stupid = Cocona # Of Items Ordered: 7 you can scan the QR code if you like
Respond, Cupid. This is a song sung by Korean girl group Fifty Fifty. The song is currently at number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. Among K-pop groups, they entered the Billboard charts faster than New Jeans and are becoming a hot topic every day. (It became famous through TikTok, and despite being a rookie group, it is extremely popular all over the world.) It represents the 4th generation and is the group with the highest possibility of becoming a group that connects Blackpink and BTS, so please give us a lot of interest.
so many people are arguing about the different generations, some argue that because of the year systems (every 5 years) we're still in the 4th gen (but some gens are different length so it doesn't make that much sense). others say its a matter of sound and change in the industry, so technically we are in 5th gen now, personally i think that's right! xg is definitely 5th gen like they're bringing a whole new vibe to kpop/jpop
