One of the best twists in television history

Ward's reveal in this episode is a punch in the gut...

While we were all in denial when this episode came out, it didn't take long for Skyeward to get a new nickname: the Titanic, because it sailed and sank within the same episode 😭😭😭

Britany: "Oh no Garrett! He is definitely one I do trust" AoS Writers: Gotcha!!! The conversation between May and Coulson is one my favorite moments in the series. Coulson's feelings are valid but so are the reasons he could know. May did it all to protect Coulson but not much more can be said right now.

The biggest revaluation to me the first time watching this(other than Ward is HYDRA) is that May built the team, hands down I was blown away!

There are a couple of major tells in prior episodes When Deathlock sees Garret and Coulson through his targeting eye, only Coulson is red as an enemy Also, Ward tries to kill May in Yes Men after the mind control ends. It appears to be either a delayed reaction or bad editing but he saw an opportunity to take her out

This caught some folks on set totally off guard. Iain De Caestecker and Brett Dalton were good friends and Iain used his reaction to fuel some really good acting in future scenes. Meanwhile Ming and Chloe Bennett had classic reactions when they sat down for the script reading. Chloe: "Oh my God! I kissed him!" Ming" "Oh my God, I f*cked him!" That brought the house down and they had to stop the reading for a few minutes until everyone stopped laughing.

9:35 - *_It is a fair scene to let the audience know that Tripp is on the right side.... However! The truth is that Tripp is a specialist, like Ward or May (Even if he is not at their level), while Simmons is a bio-tech who was declared not to be combat ready at the start of the season and who probably had not progressed much by Ep.17. So Tripp, in reality, is taking no risk at all: If Simmons WERE to try anything on him, he'd disarm her before she had time to reconsider her plan! (Even if she had a real gun I think Tripp would still have the advantage on her 😂)_* 10:51 - *_It would have to be very late in the movie: While SHIELD goes after Cap in early mid movie, HYDRA does not reveal itself until Cap makes the announcement on the loud speaker at the Triskelion, towards the end of the movie, at the beginning of the final climax. So, one has to figure that that moment of him speaking through the speakers happens a minute or a handful of them before The Bus got turned around in the previous episode, since Victoria Hand is the one who forced it to turn; so say she gave that order 1 to 5 minutes after Cap's speech, assuming that the coded transmission went out immediately while Cap was talking or seconds after it. So the near totality of this episode takes place at the Hub at the same time as Cap, Natasha and Sam fight HYDRA, Bucky, Rumlow and Alexander Pierce at the Triskelion,_* It's in episodes like this one that I wish the whole saga between Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment never would have been and that this show could have kept on the great work they did linking the two sides of the MCU together. Can't help but wonder what great crossovers we would have had had it not been for those territorial pissing contests between Jeph Loeb and Kevin Feige!*_ 22:15 - 🤡 *_JINX!_* 🤣👍👍 24:24 - *_Yup, I remember I kinda did the same thing when that episode first aired: I was so caught up in the SHIELD spy ways and twist that I started thinking that perhaps Ward thought there was someone above Garrett and that he was pretending to be on his side to discover who it was and deliver them to Coulson... Which of course was ridiculous because killing Hand just to discover an unconfirmed mastermind was way too cold and too extreme (But I guess that is why they call it the "Denial" stage! 😂) So glad the next episode cleared it up quickly._*

One of the best twists of all time. It's awesome seeing you experience what all us AOS fans went through. Your reaction and talk at the end made me think of George Lucas. After his 🐐 twist in ESB, he talked to Psychologist about how to handle the resulting trauma for kids and fans. That led to Luke's direct question to Yoda, because Lucas had to have Yoda say it to the fans directly to accept the truth. Looking forward to the remaining ride Agent B ✌️😎

As many have already hyped it up, this episode was the turning point where this show went from just being a great villain of the week style program to imo the best thing to have come out of the MCU besides the Netflix daredevil show.

Ward/Brett Dalton is an amazing actor! Can't not love him in this series!

Rather incredibly this was my First Episode. I had to go back and catch back up.... Which I did before the following episode. IMHO this episode is truly where AOS kicks off, and it doesnt let off the gas for 6 more seasons.

I forgot where I heard it, but I think they played with the idea of Simmons being the mole or at least have the viewer think that. I wonder if certain lines of dialogue or moments were put in on purpose. For example... After Trip says she's a terrible liar, she says she's getting better. Also, she never does prove she's NOT Hydra to Hand. Tripp did all of the heavy lifting and she just stood there.

This episode is better than that other spy show is was.

27:12 MY theory as to why Hand let Ward tag along was that she might be thinking he would get extremely emotional and end up killing Garrett, like he did with the "Clairvoyant".

Easily one of the best executed pivots in the last 15 years of TV IMO (I can only really think of one its equal but won't say in case of spoilers). Watching S1 up to now I genuinely found Ward one of the least interesting characters, a very cookie-cutter square-jawed hero type, very "written". And it turned out there was an excellent reason for that - Ward is _actually_ "Ward", in-universe he actually _is_ "written" :). Before "Turn, Turn, Turn" AoS was fine i'd say, a usually fun if fairly disposable episodic action-adventure show. But _after_ it, well, _now_ we're getting into the _real_ "[Agents of] SHIELD" :).

I felt so bad seeing you get so happy about Skye and Ward because I knew what was coming lol. But yeah…he’s a traitor and a murderer and kind of a coward, in a way. Not the best guy to date, if I’m being completely honest 😬. Anyways, some websites and RU-vid channels have given AOS credit for having one of the best TV plot twists out there, and it’s the Ward-Hydra reveal!
