The amazing thing about Amira learning to sing opera from RU-vid is that she somehow discerned the proper placement of every tone. Every note, every vowel sound, every pitch showed such maturity at age 9 that most singers don't achieve until after several years of voice lessons with a good teacher/coach. I have "studied" under some voice teachers that taught a severe nasal quality! I changed teachers twice, the maximum allowed in college.

Of course: since she had won HGT she has proper vocal education and that pays of for her. Then what she does is very demanding for the voice and when you do that for a very long time without good technic the voice could be damaged. Listen to her: clear as cristal and the tones sharp as a knive... Even people who do not like classic music enjoy this... classic music. That happens when someone is so good in it.
Amira always Makes me cry, I love her voice and I am in my 60s and I have never liked Classical music until I heard Amiras Voice . I have notice some Comments on some of Amira Videos, some people who comment there views and go on about her voice not being right etc etc Critics!!! they are either partly deaf or jealous SHE IS Unique Thank you
She is very unique and distinctive. The critics are always looking for technical perfection and ignoring strength and emotion. The old saying is those that can, do.....those who can't, teach.... those who can do neither become critics.

Amira is from Holland. Her family was participating on Queens Day, her parents and brother playing music and she wanted to do something, too. So she sat down and watched RU-vid videos of opera singers (she loves Jackie Evancho) and taught herself to sing. She auditioned for Holland's Got Talent singing O Mio Babino Caro and blew the judges away. She went on to win HGT at age 9!!!

I love Amira her voice will never be equalled it's so beautiful and unique, and Amazing Grace is supposed to be accompanied by the pipes and this is the best version I have ever heard and I've listened to this many many times simply beautiful, wooow.

when she did that concert she was 13. she taught herself how to sing opera at the age of 9, by watching RU-vid videos, she came to attention of her fans by appearing and winning HGT (Hollands Got Talent) and it's been a wonderful journey us, her fans and for Amira herself as she gets better and better each time we see and hear her.

I am biased as I am one of those who regard Amira as the finest voice on the planet. Maybe not technically but a tone so unique. The reason for that maybe that prior to emerging onto the world scene she had not had any singing tuition and had taught herself by watching You Tube and Andrea Bocelli in particular. Amira is Dutch but has recently moved to South Africa, which is where her Mum comes from. Before she was ever known her Mum took her to South Africa and while there she, at 7 years old, became disturbed to see that the children of the townships had no safe place for play. Now she has become a world star and is earning big money she is giving a large part of that to a charity she herself created called Gellukskinders. So far she has funded the building of 5 playgrounds in various townships. Try to watch her sing Your Love, which is the lyric version of the theme from Once Upon A Time In The West (Charlie Bronson, Henry Fonda, Claudia Cardinale) and also her sensational duet with Patrizio Buanne singing O Sole Mio. By the way she is also a national standard athlete in Holland in her age group, and is already making her mark in that direction in SA. Last comment try to see her with Andre Rieu.

Amira is another audition video that went viral. Well worth checking out (and possibly reacting to). She was nine, sang "Oh mio babbino caro". Impressed me more than this one in fact, incredible warmth and vibrato in the alto range in that rendition. Also hit high notes, but I remember her more for the low ones. Today I get the feeling that she is held back by her vocal coaches in order to not wear out her voice; she sings with a much lighter touch than back then. I found it funny that you never heard amazing grace being played on the bagpipes. It's an iconic piece to be played on that instrument. But it does make sense. If you're into bagpipes, you probably have heard it. If you are just into the song, not necessarily.

Your reaction was very similar to my reaction the first time I heard her sing, mouth wide open! I first discovered Amira about a year and a half ago singing at the age of nine. Amira is currently 14 years old, she was 13 when she sung Amazing Grace. She quite possible the best female vocalist in the Universe. She is not that well known especially in USA. Her voice has really matured the last couple of years and she will be a sensation world wide when she is aggressively promoted. Because she is still young the promotion of her talent has been moderate. Other pieces to react to are Nessun Dorma and Nella Fantasia. Judy Collins had a huge hit with Amazing Grace in 1970/71. What caught everyone by surprise , because it was such a novelty, was 1972 and the the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards having an instrumental hit with it played on the bagpipes. Ever since the tune has been associated with bagpipes. It was originally composed by the captain of a slave ship, who repented and saw the light. You've seen and reacted to the amazing Amira so I won't update you with her prowess. Suffice to say she was probably 10 when she delivered this jaw dropping performance.
Your face said it all... You had your "Amira Moment", as my family calls it! She is so incredibly talented and angelic. I recommend Amira singing "The Flower Duet" with Corlea Botha (Amira is about 12 or 13), "O Solo Mio" with Patrizio Buanne, "Nella Fantasia" (both when she was 12) and of course, "O Mio Bambino Caro" with André Rieu when she was only about 10. And if you want to be really amazed, watch her audition for Holland's Got Talent (for English speaking viewers) when she was only 9, which was before she had any training at all. It’s been ages since you reacted to Amira, so may I suggest a couple of her performances that I think you would enjoy reacting to. Ave Maria Gomez ( Canisius Church) this is absolutely stunning. I think she was 11 in this performance. If it was only audio, you would think it was a fully trained opera singer with a truly beautiful tone. Then something a little different is a medley she sings from Sound of Music at the age of 15. It is in this performance that her maturity in voice & self is evident. She creates a beautiful rendition with a vibrancy & resonance that lingers . A truly wonderful work of art. When she won NGT it was truly the first time I heard an angel sing. Singers are not supposed to be compared, but I preferred Amira over Jackie Evancho (who is also excellent) because I felt Amira was more soulful.
Everyone gets emotional when they hear Amira sing. She was 13 when she sang this, in the yearly South African concert. I know I've said this before, don't remember if I said it on this video. Still bears repeating, I think. I couldn't be more proud of her if she was my own child.

This is the best of Amira's performances that I have heard. She is much better than she was when her technique and vocal control had not developed fully but people were already praising her to the skies, and the hype was off-putting. She does have a fine range and a much improved technique. She may well be a great diva one day.
She was 9 years old for god's sake with NO singing and breath control lessons. We were in awe because to us she was a miracle. Have you ever experienced this before? just copying off utube. So to you the singing with Andre at the age of just 10, yes that's 10, was mediocre, the mind boggles. When she reaches her prime, that's if she carries on singing, she is excellent in every thing she enjoys including running, she'll be the diva of divas, the soprano of soprano's. Enough said......

Her third album with the title "With all my Heart" is a masterpiece that I have to listen to at least once a day. You should check out her video of Holland's Got Talent from 2013 when she was 9 years old singing: Mio Bambino Caro perfectly as if she was a veteran adult opera singer. Amira is a naturaly gifted singer who is also self-taught. She never had a singing teacher of any kind. She just listens to a song she likes and learns how to sing it perfectly without any aid whatsoever. It has been a looong long time since you reacted to any of Amira’s performances, & I bring to your attention a performance by Amira in 2019 , now 15 years old ( young). It is a Medley of Sound of Music in which she shows us what a delightful young lady she is becoming. Her diction is beautiful & the resonance of her voice is amazing. Her voice control , for such a young singer astounds me. She has the ability to display her most powerful voice without effort in all of her amazing range. The vibrato is even & controlled; something you would expect from a seasoned singer as it can take years to get to where Amira is. There are other very talented Sopranos around, but they appear to strain in the high register & their vibrato appears forced. This Medley isn’t true soprano, but it does show what an exquisite singer Amira Willighagen is. Please react to this performance as I do like your approach when reacting.
Amira sining is too advanced for this reactor. This reactor prefers pop singers. Btw. Amira and her Sound Of Music proves her uniqueness. No one else can sing like Amira. Other talented sopranos like Patricia Janeckova and Solomia Lukyanets both have standard soprano voices..

Thank you for your very accurate comments; most of what needs to be said has been said, but I would add my appreciation of your reaction to the whole production; it comes from the Coleske Artists (Pretoria, South Africa) DVD "Classics is Groot" 2017" (from the concert of that name); it is not generally available outside South Africa, but there are a small number in stock at Amira's charity foundation, Gelukskinders.org/store but they are for region 2, so it is not a simple matter to play them in other regions. On the same DVD are her performances (at the same concert) of Nessun Dorma, the Flower Duet (from Delibes' opera, "Lakme"), and the group performances of Amigos Para Siempre and My Way, in which Amira does her part as part of the whole team. The arrangements are by "Floors" Oosthuizen and his charming wife. You can find most of these on YT in lower-quality versions. Amira was invited as a guest to the 2016 version of Classics is Groot, and sang O Mio Babbino Caro and then O sole mio, with Patrizio Buanne - (the YT version of this went viral; it can be found on "Amira's Archive") and Nella Fantasia; and she stole the show, so they invited her back in November 2016 to give another 11 performances at the Afrikaans language version, "Afrikaans is Groot". Amira is 14 years old. In 2013, at the age of 9, she won NGT with classical music. At the age of 9, she still has a performance with Andre Rieu in Maastricht in front of 10,000 spectators in 2014. She sang O Mio Babbino Caro. She had no music lessons until then, Amira had taught herself everything about RU-vid herself. Must see.

You reacted to her once before from Holland Got Talent, when she was 9. You possibly remember the judge asking if he needed earplugs. Amira and Jackie are in slightly different fields, Jackie is more crossover whilst Amira is more classical, however betwee them they have the two most beautiful serious music voices kn the planet. Try to wat h Amira sing "Your Love" and Jackie sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" whilst walking through water both breathtaking.
