By the way, this song is about Kakurenbo (traditional japanese hide and seek game). The girls are playing this, running and hiding from an oni (demon ogre), that's the growling voice in the background.
And in kakurenbo, the person who is "it" is known as the "oni" (which I can understand as a good motivation to run and hide from them), the song just takes that more literally. ;) On the other hand, if the oni in question was Lum, I probably wouldn't be as motivated to run away.
Knowing what it is about makes it even greater to watch Su's facial expressions during the first part, when she is desperately trying to find the others. :-)
Next one has to be "Ijime, dame, zettai" which is translated something like "No more bullying, forever". This performance (in the link below) is legendary in Babymetal's history. The story goes like this: In 2014 Babymetal was invited to play at Sonisphere Festival, the girls were like 16 years old, and this would be their first show in the west. At this point they were "unknown" for the world, so they were supposed to perform in a side stage for just a little audience but for some reason, never revealed, at the last moment they were changed to the main stage in front of 60.000 metalheads, most of them had no idea about Babymetal, never heard about them before, so that must have been a pretty scary moment for the girls, but it was also decisive, this show opened the door to the world for them... With the first song, people were like "What a hell is this?"... Second song, "Ok this isn't bad"... Third song, "This is actually pretty good"... Fourth song, "This is amazing!"... BABYMETAL - Rondo Of Nightmare (with mischiefs God Intro) Live at Budokan night 2014. My ear are blessed with the intro from Kami-Band. Each member of the member got a spotlight in that performance. Not to mention that badass stage.
As others have said, the creepy voice in background is the demon they are playing hide and seek with. He keeps asking are thry ready and tbey keep saying not yet. And some more info about Su. She has been in show business since she was 3. She won a couple modeling shows and then each year she kept getting accepted into a famous school. And you can look up videos of her at 9 and 10 years old. Her voice so strong even then.
I hate it when all these parents shove their kids into show business. Yes, a FEW become successful but most don't. My educated guess is that when Suzuka Nakamoto is in her 40s, she won't have such a happy story about show business and if she has kids she won't want them in show business, either. The girls you see in the performances only show what they want you to see.
Both the best and the heaviest song about playing hide & seek ever written. Yes, sadly Yuimetal has left the band after a whole year out injured or ill (best guess is a back injury), she made her decision as she is still not fully recovered even after so long.
Great reaction again guys, got news for you there is not one BabyMetal performance you will dislike. Live as far as I am concerned is the best way to go. Its in live performance you get the whole thing ,Kami band , Yui and Moa dancing and singing and Su's stage presence and her awesome voice. When she sings I get goosebumps and as she hits the high notes it has been known for a tear to come to my eye, but if she sings Atatsuki Rondo of Nightmare or No Rain no Rainbow I am just I am just a blubbering baby. Please continue your journey with BabyMetal in between your other reactions you will not be disappointed.
Babymetal debuted in 2010, not 2011. You are thinking of when the video for "Doki Doki Morning" debuted. They were already performing in front of (confused) Japanese crowds in 2010.
You have already received much information in the comments so I will just add how BabyMetal makes you smile and their performances are a joy to watch. They have changed now as they are older and Yui has regrettably left, so for me some of the magic has gone but don't let that stop you from seeing them.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃♀️👹 Couldn't help but notice the info about Su's previous group flash on the screen. Her first pro group Karen Girl's went from 2008-2009. Su was 10 when it started. It was created to provide music for the anime series 'Zettai Karen Children'. Once the series ended, the group was disbanded. About a year later, Su joined Sakura Gakuin as a founding member. Yui and Moa officially "transferred in" to the group a few months later. Su was drafted into the "Heavy Music Club" (BABYMETAL) and joined by Yui and Moa. Su graduated in 2013, Yui and Moa in 2015. Both girls spent five years juggling Sakura Gakuin, BABYMETAL, and their real schools, as well as family responsibilities. Yui was a big Karen Girl's fan, and credits their music in getting her through a difficult time when a family member was in the hospital. Performing a cover version of their song 'Over The Future' along with Moa and her Idol Su was like a dream come true. Nice review; facts a bit off. Babymetal recorded Doki Doki Morning in the Studio on Oct 30, 2010, and debuted on stage on Nov 28 2010. They recorded the video for Doki Doki Morning in Oct 2011 and the video debuted on Oct 22 2011, and by the end of the year Metal Injection had it #9 in their top 15 videos of the year. Yui and Moa were born in 1999; Su in 1997. Their average age was 11 at their debut, but that was 2010. They were 12 and 13 in the video. Fox symbol showing the divine inspiration is said tongue in cheek. What happened was they showed the girls photos of Ronnie James Dio doing his trademark horns, and the girls incorrectly made fox sign shadow puppets instead. The staff didn't correct the, and it's been the fox sign ever since. Su was in Karen Girl's; yes misspelling of the possessive. It was for the anime Zettai Karen Children, for which they sang the theme song, Over the Future .
You mentioned that you REALLY want to see them perform live. Well, the good news is that they've hit California at least once a year for the last 3 years so they will probably passing your way next year (start saving up). It would be great to see you guys go to the show and then do a review / react to the experience. The bad news is, as you said, Yui is no longer with the group. Personally, I am hoping they find a suitable replacement for her, someone of roughly the same age, prefereably with a Sakura Gakuin background. I say preferably someone from SK, preferably someone Yu and Moa are familiar with and, more importantly, like, just to keep the ultra friendly, almost sister-like relationship going with the girls. If they throw some random, unknown newcomer into the mix, it might mess up the chemistry. A n y w a y ... I have a tendency to write super long winded comments and I feel this one heading in that direction. Hey guys, How about a trip into the BabyMetal “Fox Hole”. This has several layers. SuMetal as the youngest Karen Girl’s (look for her cute mole at the corner of her mouth.) Moa and Yui’s entrance exam to Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy) Su was a founding member and little Yui idolized the Karen Girl’s and it’s 3 members.
