Good one. This is a mixture of ska with the metal and the song itself is about being confused, like when there are two things that look the same, but they're not the same so which do you choose - this one or that one? You won't find a lot of behind the scenes stuff or videos of rehearsals (there are a couple of short videos out there), but yes they rehearse very hard - they have to rehearse and practice a lot to be as accurate and precise with all the choreo as they are. Consider they are playing a whole concert and they have specific choreo for every song that they have to remember and get spot on while also singing, entertaining and involving the audience ... and they are perfectionists.
Nice reaction. Tittle is like saying Oh No. Song is basically you can get with this or you can get with that but no matter what you decide somebody is gonna say Oh No bad choice. So you ask yourself now, What would Babymetal do? Answer you make your choice and then make the best of it. Like choosing to try fusing JPop and Metal music together. There were many in the beginning that said Oh NO bad choice. But Babymetal stayed with it and made it their own. Now folks say OH Yeah!!!! Lets go see Babymetal. I know I'm glad they made the choice they did. Not only to try it but to stay with it as well.
There are a couple short videos floating around showing rehearsals but they aren't official. They will definitely be blocked immediately. Seeing Babymetal in regular clothes is NOT allowed. Lol One just showed up on the Babymetal reddit. Come on over and check it out. Lol
This is one that had to grow on me but now it's one of my favorites. I love the breakdown, and the choreography is so cute. I would die to see this live.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤔 The official lyric is "ヤバッ!" (Yaba!), which is a clipped form of "yabai". Originally, "yabai" meant "dangerous", but in this song and popular usage, it is also used as an exclamation. "Oh no!" is a pretty good equivalent in English. Aside from the solos from Su, 'YAVA!' is my favorite track from the Metal Resistance album. And some of my favorite BABYMETAL choreography. There are groups that have spent years trying to make sludgy ska metal sound good, and BABYMETAL pulls it off the first time. I would have done a whole album like that, but they moved on to the next thing. : ) Even with the translation it's hard to know exactly what this song is about. As Du-Metal says on his translation page, "The meaning of the lyrics is vague, obscure & ambiguous." Something about making choices when things seem similar. Or insisting that differences, even small ones, are important and make things vital and intersting. This song was written by some of the same folks involved with 'Megitsune', etc.
I thin you have a keen sense. Please check out lyrics. It is ambiguous, but it has clues. Getting along with lyrics, the song develops that starts lightly with the rhythm of Ska and goes dark or heavy from the break down part. I think Su- has sings the teenage girls anxiety emotions. I love this song. Thank you from Japan.
Nice reaction, thanks! So glad you liked this one! "YAVA!" is one of those underrated songs... but one of my favorites. I totally love the ska vibe, the funny choreo and specially that piece of breakdown which is pure fire! Until next time!
This has become one of favorites lately, as well. In fact, I've grown to love the whole Metal Resistance album, but Yava and Syncopation are both favorites.
