Let me just say this. If you do decide to partake of Berzerk, and I sincerely hope you do, I highly recommend reading the manga as opposed to watching any of the anime. Normally I'm not a fan of the whole manga-snob opinion, but I make an exception for that series. The artwork of the manga is truly spectacular and the various anime tend to be hit and miss.
It's worth watching the 1998 anime. It takes it's time with scenes. The 2016 anime series is a horrible disaster, which becomes even more obvious when you learn about the director for it and the technical clusterfuck the animation team went through.
derris nguyen Sadly you seem to be right. I had hopes up for the 2016 version but after 5 minutes Icouldn't bear the awful facial animation. There are ps2 games with better facial animation.

I watched this deathbattle for the first time at you reaction.I was going for Nightmare too,because his demonic attack don't stand a chance against Guts's physical attack.And they said the only thing that can destroy to soul edge is it's opposite, the soul calibur but Guts's sword really destroyed it.
I don't know if you guys have watched it yet, but if you don't like looking at old animation and a lot of 3d animation, you should probably watch the 3 berserk movies instead of the animes first.
Oh you definitely should watch berserk,if you plan on watching then watch the 1997 anime adaptation,that's by far the best anime adaptation of berserk.However,the manga is wayy better than any anime adaptation,it's the best thing ever.
From what I've seen and read, not really. If you're refering to Nightmare not devouring Guts's soul for an easy win, Guts has no soul to give- it has already been claimed by Femto.
