Dwigth yoakam is a very different country singer from the traditional ones, he has a diversity of sounds in his songs that are pleasant for all kinds of people. I personally am from the Caribbean and what we hear is tropical music and the American music that is heard is simple ballad and rock, but by chance I stumbled upon a dwigth song and from that moment I became a follower of it. I had the happiness of attending a Dwigth concert in Kalamazoo Michigan in September 2022 and it was a concert full of energy, good music, people's dances and hubbub!! Dwigth was running for 2 hours and 10 minutes singing, playing, dancing and even stand up comedy , and at 65 years old he could do it as if he were 30. the truth for me he is the best!!!
Before you ask the question, here is the answer. I lived in Bakersfield, CA (actually Oildale which is on the outskirts of Bakersfield) when this song came out. Yes, we all did really dress like this. My ex-husband, who I was married to at the time; danced just like Dwight. We used to go to Trout's and Bud's, two bars just down the street from The Buck Owens studio and dance to their songs. This was back in the early 80s. Fun times, except for the ex-husband. LOL!! I’ve dug Dwight and that honky tonk sound from his beginning in the 80’s. Monster band and he has kept the same band for years. The band stays in the same hotel and they travel together always heard he is a fantastic boss bandleader and is fantastic in the studio. There live performances I’ve heard are off the charts… can you tall Im a fan lol
Love your Dwight Yoakam videos. I wish you guys would check out some modern country like Cody Jinks, Turnpike Troubadors, Ward Davis, etc... Not the modern radio country but stuff you will find on Outlaw Country on Sirius.
"Please, Please Baby" was a top ten country hit in the late 80s. It never had a music video. This performance and video is from his 1995 live album "Dwight Live", and the song was a hit all over again because it was played on CMT a lot. It's a terrific performance and gives new energy to the song. Pete Anderson's lead guitar is smoking.
This is from the "This Time" Tour. This is the biggest album & tour of Dwight Yoakams career. Most of his band stayed with him throughout his career until a certain point. This is also on a live album called 'Dwight Live" . They even put this video apart of a Disney special on the Disney channel in the 90s the showed featured video clips from the show along with Dwight Yoakam and the late great actor Dennis Hopper hosting the special.
"Blame the Vain", the title track to an album released by Dwight in 2005, is worth checking out. Even though 2005 is quite some time ago, it is 10 to 20 years later than the songs you have reacted to. The album as a whole is pretty good in my opinion. "Intentional Heartache" was another single from this album.
The video you didn't like I think it's turn it up turn me on turn me loose? But that that one's based off of a movie and I can't think save my life what movie that was supposed to be like Dwight yoakam's take on cuz he's been in quite a few movies it has nothing to do with Sling Blade which was awesome
