If this was the show recorded at New Haven the last day of the tour I was actually at this concert. Epic night. Me and my buddies went to a diner before the show and started talking to the waitress. She and her gf's met up with us after the concert at some hole in the wall bar/rock club across the street from Yale University where they only sold light beer. :( . Sammy Hagar stole the show when he almost fell off the rafters high above the stage. He was standing on this walkway about 75 feet up and he decided to grab a bar at the end of the walkway over his head and swing on it. Well, the last swing his feet hit the bar below and he dam near came tumbling down. This is the second time I saw Van Halen. The first was on 14th street at the peladium in Manhatten in 78 or 79 for the first album. I am sure they played eruption then too but we were too high for me to remember. LOL.

After listening to this man play for over 40 years (CD or live in person), it never gets old. There will never be a better guitar player in this genre EVER. Hendrix, Rhoads, Page are all incredible but then there is the King of the Mountain. Only a guitar player knows how hard it is to play like that. What's more amazing, Eddie's concert volume is so loud it's crazy. Keeping a guitar quiet with volume that high is very hard to do (minus noise gate). Your reaction was exactly like millions of first time listeners. #subscribed

Some people say Jimi said Gibbon was "the best". People who like Terry Kath say that Jimi said he was the greatest guitarist. In both cases, Jimi was being polite. Kath is probably the best of the two. But it's NOT about who is the fastest player; it's about who elicits the most EMOTION out of the instrument...and that is Jimi, by miles and light years. Eddie is good, others are good. Jimi has the only perpetual lease.

This album, Running With The Devil came out when I was 14. Saw Van Halen in concert twice in Houston in high school! Hearing Eddie Van Halen live was an experience for sure. Nothing compares to having the chance to hear him live. You know now why the crowd was cheering his name before he started playing, we knew what we were in for. The best guitarist in the historyof guitarist. May he RIP.

@@Buccarado No, it is not dead. Its just that radio isn't playing the music people want to hear. Rather, they are telling us what we want to hear. But never have people had more choice than they do now, and its never been easier to get your art out there with the technology available to us now. My son is a musician and an audio engineer. For two summers in a row, his band, Dead Eyes Always Dreaming, opened for Six Feet Under in Europe. He did that on his own, without agents or any big label executives. He is no longer with that band, but his current band is Hail of Fire. Look him up.

Me, being the biggest Van Halen fan in history (self titled), it’s always fun watching people that have never seen Eddie. Like Eddie’s brother says (his brother is the drummer by the way), Ed is an alien that comes from a planet where everyone plays guitar. Long live the King. And if you’re an Eddie fan, then 8:03 is where you get your first real chill bumps. And I gotta laugh when he pauses and takes a lap.....because I’m thinking, “Holy crap, what’s this guy gonna do when he hears Cathedral in a minute?!” I immediately subscribed to your channel when you said the words “ he’s making that guitar speak a language.” Much respect and now you also understand Eddie.
