24:36 .. BEN .. that is indeed symbolic .. bcz many of these invadors broke rules of warfare and were dishonorable in every which way. After invading they would do h0rrible things with w0men & ch!ldren .. Hence the queen & other women did what they did in the end.
You don't understand those islamic tyrant are so ruthless they even r@pe dead bodyof women and make woman s#x slaves so they chose to die most painful death so that those lustfull monsters don't even touch there body
They got burnt here because after defeat, Alauddin would take them as slaves and sell them in a market whose tag line was "dukhtre hindustan nilame do dinar" which means the daughters of india are auctioned here for two dinars each.
@@thesliceoflifepodcastand they were Necrophiliac. That's why they used fire instead of poison or other methods..and they used to humiliate dead bodies in weird manner in front of public..... That's why johar,my ancestors did this that's why i know it
@@thesliceoflifepodcast even if they fought and died, the armies would rape their dead bodies, that's why they saved their dignity, they didn't even allowed then to touch them, that's also bravery, that's why she said “Our body will burn into ashes, but the Rajputana pride, dignity and self-respect will remain”
This was history, it actually happened being from Rajput family, I m greatfull of our Ansestors despite being attacked thousands of time our culture is still Alive
in islam after the fight people used to take women as sex slaves, just like prophet muhammad did. But rani padmavat and all women of chittor didn't wanted that to happen. So they had to sacrifice their life against the cruel islamic invaders
Padmavati was a warrior and knew how to use weapons doesn't mean all the other women knew too. So, as sad and depressing this is they burned themselves and if they had not.... they would have been sold and raped. Maybe... they would have raped even there dead bodies. :( Khilji was a monster.
they commit jhohar because of not wanted to be sex slaves and don't wanted to be violeted even after dead "necrophilia" guys , invaders brought necrophilia with them and for Indian women being violated even after death is... I don't have words for it
@@ajatmitra9495 what part is a lie? Slavery was not a thing in India specially sex slaves and invaders were always on crusade and all of the mm are men so. What do you think they do to native people and women? Oh sorry I forgot they politely asks for sex and were to gentleman that women couldn't help bit to agree and yah They had so much wealth that they were on casual crusade just to entertain themselves. And likes of rani padmavati were all committed jhohar for nothing just to check they were fireproof or not? Right. I'm sorry to subscribing to Truth. I apologize for not following your imaginations.
This is based on real story of Rani/Queen Padmavati !! If you look it up online, it might say that it’s loosely based on an epic poem - but, that’s because there was a huge controversy before releasing this movie so the director had to say that this is based on poem and not history. But, it doesn’t change the fact about these Barbaric Muslim invaders. The scene where khilji burns some documents symbolizes the burning of “Nalanda” and “Vikramshila” universities; which were the first universities in the world… the Nalanda library held millions of books bich took them 3-4 months to burn !! So much knowledge lost !! 😔😡😔
It's not real story. However the story itself is inspired by historical facts and people. Mass jauhar and saka to avoid capture truly happened. Khilji was a genocidal fanatic as well as ambitious ruler after wealth, slaves and land etc.
Dont mislead...it was a fictional story....okay.....be truthful ....it was jus a poem..Muslim rulers like own muslim girls..they have no need to abduct...he was a king.....not a road side Romeo.....broaden your vision

They committed jauhar because 1. They weren't trained warriors. If they fought, they could have been captured and used. 2. Even if they died in battle, their bodies could have been used.
@@Jay-i3d7m First of all, not all muslim invaders used to do that, in fact most don't because it is against our religion. Also, a lot of non-muslim invaders did that so I don't see why you put muslim there as it is exclusive to muslims which is a lie.
@@fmamamaba1460 it is exactly in your religion dear. First of all you read your kuran and hadiths with meaning/contex. You will definitely find this kind of activities there
@@Jay-i3d7m I read it and definitely waaaay more than you have which is probably zero, you definitely have not read the quran/hadiths if you think the rape of dead bodies were mentioned there lol you think you can just blatantly lie and have people believe you?
Fyi Ranveer Singh who plays Alauddin is married to Deepika Padukone who plays Padmavati in real life. They have been together for 11 years. Ranveer locked himself for 4 months in a room for getting into his character as Alauddin, ate raw red meat throughout shoot and had to get psychiatric help to get out of character after he was done 🙌 He is an INCREDIBLE actor. You have to check out his movie, you can never recognize him from one movie to the other. The man's a shapeshifter. You are watching him in Bajirao Mastani next. After that I would recommend "Dil Dhadakne Do", "Gully Boy", "Ram Leela", "Befikre" etc... 😍🔥
That is exactly why SATI-PRATHA became a practice in India, In India respect is valued more than lives from the early ages. During Muslim invasions Widows were raped and killed. But I must say this practice was a rare practice and is exaggerated by the British to justify their rule over India.
in islam after the fight people used to take women as sex slaves, just like prophet muhammad did. But rani padmavat and all women of chittor didn't wanted that to happen. So they had to sacrifice their life against the cruel islamic invaders
Yes, there have been many warrior princess and queens who fought in war(like rani laxmibai , rani durgabtti) but in Rajasthan from where the Rajput are from were constantly attacked by muslim invaders for a century and seen the fate of women if captured alive so this was to prevent that horrible fate from happening.
Ranveer Singh the actor who plays Alauddin Khilji is one of the best actors in this generation. He is actually married to Deepika Padukone the actress who plays Padmavati here. They have been together for 11 years now. They met at the set of "Raam Leela" on 2013 a movie by the same director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. You must react to Raam Leela too. Ranveer and Deepika are amazing. The director absolutely loves casting Deepika and Ranveer together. When they are on screen together, it's bound to be a blockbuster. The director again casted them as main leads in the movie "Bajirao Mastani" and after 2 years in "Padmavti". All three movies are huge blockbusters.
If you fight and die in battle, they still get access to your body after you die. This actually has been a point of conversation between women. One day a random post on i think reddit? Said like "what would you do if you were the last man on earth?" and it was kinda silly and positive, but when asked "what would you do if you were the last woman on earth?" It went viral and many said they would set themselves on fire or kill themselves in a forest so animals would eat them. The idea was kinda eliminating every possibility of your body being used, even after you're dead. Also about the women in the movie: if they fight but didn't die, they would probably become slaves, so the best outcome for them was to die with honor and make sure they didn't leaved their bodies behind
After padmaavati committed jauhar. They looted some 74 kg of Gold from the ashes of these women. They were maleecha these invaders. sex slavery and necrophilia was the result of a defeat by them. so ,Rajput women used to commit jauhar and these jauhar kund are in every fort in Rajasthan, which faced the brunt of Islamic invasion. The remaining men went out to fight till death and the women committed jauhar.
6:09 dude he wasn't indian first he was arabian emperor who were trying to invade India..let me clearify.. we indians are hindus for example rajputs, so we have values and we respect women.
I would recommend Devdas and Black of Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is an artist himself I mean the way he directed his movies each one becomes an art piece.
So, this is called Johar system in India which originated ig during the time when india was continuously invaded. As you said she or they could have fought or what not, but the isssue is that these invaders were so brutal that they even raped the dead body and if found alive then you may not imagine what hell the women had to go through. so, yes this was THE only options for women at that time.
Their is history that invaders do all kind of barbaric things to women whose husbands die on battlefield. They don't let her die nor they could live and that's why to protect her honour women do jawhar as fire is considered very pure in Hinduism.
Guys the ending you just saw is called Jauhar it was a practice where when the men were defeated and captured proud Rajput women burned themselves on sacred pyres so that the invaders could not touch or rape them .
Hey i am from bundi rajasthan and a rajput lemme mention some facts . Padmavat is adaptaion of famous version of this inicdent by md chisti . This inicdent is mentioned or doucmented by many ppl even ferista , baburnama etc . Whats real now - chittor is real - alaaudin invasion is real - maa padmavati bring very beautiful was real - juahar was real Whats fiction - Rawal ratan singh duel with khilji - Rawal ratan singh died in a battle with a another vassal king of alaudin few days before invasion - aladuin didnt attack fort for padmvati
It's called jauhar( self immolation) It's to prevent yourself from becoming sex slave which means you will get raped by many men. Necrophilia was also practiced by invading forces, that's why they used fire not poison to kill themselves.
11:31 if you will see the article about behind the scenes of this dance number they mentioned that it was really hot there wherever they were shooting and the dress was really heavy too, due to which ranveer ( villian) fainted many times between the scenes 😢. He's really a hardworking person ❤
Dying in battle would have been less painful than burning herself but she did not do why because even after death no one except her husband should touch her body. Khilji would have done anything to her body even she was not alive. so she burnt herself so even after death he would not get to misuse her body. Dignity and chastity of our women was such.
The fact that jouhar started during Islamic invasions and not just in Rajasthan but in different parts of india women used to do that to save their pride and dignity
Hindu Indian royal women held their chastity, morals, ethics and purity higher than life itself, something unheard of in any other culture. To your point: Giving up their life was any day better for them than become sex slaves or victims of brutal rapes and conversions by barbaric Islamic invaders. Even if Padmavati had fought for her honor she could not have saved hundreds of women, many pregnant, young and old which is why Jauhar or gore sacrifice was a no-brainer for them.
Have you ever heard of necrophilia? It was common in world wars. During the Isreal Hmas war, bodies of Jews women were praded naked. It was on news. Just think what would have happened in 12th century. I'm against evil practice of Sati where wife was forced to burn on pyre of Husband. But Jauhar was volunteer, a last step to be saved from being a slave, Rape victim or necrophilia victim. It's about freedom and women's honour. Even in Japan when samurai died in battle or commit harriki or seppuku ( honour suicide) their widow die. You have different history than India. Yours was a peaceful one, ours isn't. Even my own grandmother immolated herself during 1947 partition riots.
Loved the reaction guys! This movie was controversial in India because it was looked at as anti-feminist by some and by others looked at as feminism in accordance with the time since many womenfolk in India were captured and r*ped by invaders in India (mughals, british). This movie, although fictional, is a tale from a folkloric poem.
Not controversial because of feminists but because the Rajput community (Karni Sena) WITHOUT watching the movie were sure it was against their culture and degrading Rani Padmavati.. hence the change in name of movie and covering of naval of Deepika in ghoomar song :)
It’s was definitely feminist, not giving womb to Islamic animals is always feminist. Those rape the dead body too. Apparently dead boys rape is not rape as per Karnaataka HC. Seems like we are forgetting constitution and legalising sharia soon.
I don't understand why some Indians are refusing to accept that this is a real story. It is a real story! I'm from Rajasthan and I know the history of my state better. Indian people, especially Muslims, seem to get triggered by this. Do they love this kind of king, who was a monster? Aren't these the same people who were spamming 'Free Palestine, 'Support humanity, etc.? Double standards, fr
That's "jouhar" which was a Rajput ritual. It's mostly a fictional story but the jouhar is historically true. For the sake of their dignity, the women would rather jump in the fire than fall in the hands of those men.
Just a note to say that the historical figure that Ranvir Singh plays is Sultan Allaudin Khilji, the sultan of Delhi. The Khiljis were Mughal invaders from Central Asia, who took over Northern India. They were muslims. The Rajput kings of Rajasthan like Maharaja Ratan Singh (played by Shaahid Kapoor) were Hindus.
I don't think it was a very important thing to say what religions they were from tho. It doesn't add anything new to the story it's the same whether you know it or not and you would understand even if you don't so, I find it weird you feel the utmost necessity to mention that.
@@reshavgovindam1280 I know. This is why I’m calling him out, but I’m sure he’s smart enough to figure out why he felt the need to mention what their religions were.
Bajirao mastani next time. And the ghoomer song of padmavat was top5 in Canada for weeks. Fun fact the villen of the movie Ranveer Singh is Husband of the heroine Deepika Padukone's . And romers says the characters had bi/gay relationship thats the portrayal. 'Galiyon Ki Ras Leela Ram Leela' also would be great, it's adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
I can't believe these guys watched the whole movie and compared the Jauhar (self-immolation) scene to Japenese term of giving up, you didn't even understand why the Queen and women did what they did.
Khilji is not Afghani , he is Turkic not Turkish although they are in some form related, Turkic tribes are Chinese looking tribes originated from Mongolia and Siberia who were ruthless and Barbaric ...in ancient times. Today's country of Turkey was established when these Turkic men conquered killed and Raped Greek (Hellenic) and Armenian Women and converted them into their religion. That's the shortest history. Whereas Afghanistan was always historically , Indian territory, the Bamyan statues and soo much more evidence, basically today's Afghanis and Pakistanis were I Converted Indians by the Arabs and mostly by the Turkic invaders. The Mughals were also Turkic in origin....
This is a fictional story. Women used to commit suicide because Rajput kings would fight all the time and take the women as slaves. Padmavati's husband was killed by another Rajput King and she committed suicide as per their tradition. Nothing heroic about female oppression.
Sanjay Lila Bansali took way too much directorial liberty here .There was no betrayal of any sort , Allauddin Khilji's Army had comfortably beaten Chitoor's Army and took control over the State.
It’s is like saying Hitler had easy win over Poland and had comfortably beaten the polish army etc. and no historical Khilji didn’t have an easy win. Chittorgarh fort was a formidable fort and largest one of India and in the fourteenth century, Mewar was one of the most powerful kingdoms of northwest India. The siege continued for around eight months, after which Khilji and his much larger army attacked the fort.
Looks like haven't readed history. ... Khilji invited rawal ratan Singh and killed him by behind like a coward Director tools a liberty and added more scenes of ratan Singh but his end was like taht in real
Yep , she is a warrior, but the war just happened for women.. other parties needed women.. so she went inside fire so that other parties can't gain her .. they can't even touch her..
In original story / history their was no guru ....and padmavati was from banswara another province of Rajaputana not from shrilanka....and khilji attacked mewar (my hometown) for it's wealth because mewar had silver mines at that time and used to control major highways and used to collect tax ....and he k i lled (khilji) more than 30000 innocent people in the fort and more than 1500 woman performed johar because islamist used to performed na cro philliac on the corpse and used to abuse the corpse that's why hindu woman used to burn themselves alive......and that whole area is called rajputana and Everyone is fighter their not just kshtriya people....all cast is worior
In that era when Islamic barbarians used attack any kingdom, all attackers used capture women , small kids and rape Its been said even dead bodies been raped and disrespected hence this johar (diving in fire and sacrifice ur own life)
It's funny how people take this film as an excuse to be Islamophobic when they don't know even the slightest thing about Islam or history lol stop acting like you were alive at the time and experienced these events, when not even your grandparents were alive. First of all, Khilji was not Arab, there are 22 Arab countries, and he is from none of them, but he was a self-proclaimed Muslim. Secondly the stuff he did was already a common thing for invaders to do back then so stop being stupid trying to imply that only Muslims did it when you know nothing about history. Thirdly none of the actions Khilji did are accepted in Islam in fact most of his doings are forbidden in Islam like sex without marriage, rape, and necrophilia so stop bringing Islam to this because we all know that Muslims are treated badly in India so y'all being Islamophobic doesn't not help prove that wrong.
Yup, based on true event. These invaders were absolutely worst when it came to women. Made them sex selves and sold them in Afghanistan if any women captured alive. That’s why u see these kind of resolution all over India back in that time.
This was one of the darkest moments of history in India. After Islamic invasions, majority of the Indian widows/women would burn themselves as Padmavati did because Mughals or any other Islamic emperors would kidnapped them and use them as s*x slaves, r*pe or kill them. Khilji did more Atrocities ex: he destroyed many universities especially Nalanda University ( the oldest university in the world) he killed thousands of Buddhists monks and thousands of students and burned 9 million manuscripts that had information about Astronomy, medical, science etc. it’s just sad part of history
The queen was a warrior but the rest of the women weren't...so they didn't really have a choice, it was either die or be captured by them to be r@ped & stuff (& they chose to burn to ashes so those men can't even get their hands on the women"s dead bodies)
Ending can only be understood if you understand the islam . And what is done to the captured women . This can not be discussed on open plateform because the islam world will trigger.
