Marko brings the "menace" to the phantom. Such a great take by him and if Broadway ever did a rock version like this I'd be there immediately.

That's THE Siren, Tarja Turunen❤ This was Fall, Helsinki, Finland 2005, "End of an Era" Tour concert. I was 18 then, I'm now 37. This was the last time we heard the Siren, the Viking, the Pirate, the Vampire & the Zombie all perform together. I'll never forget it... Thanks for sporting this reaction video!!! i would say about 75% of Nightwish songs are best live, while the rest are awesome on album as well, and some are best on album. the reason ppl say "watch them live" is that they seem to feed off the energy of their audience and just kick in that extra notch that they lack in the studio. the joy, fun and energy translates into their performance, and you can just feel it/hear it, making it a much better experience to watch! many bands arent as good live as they are in the studio, but Nightwish has such incredibly talented musicians and vocalists that they are able to perform even better live!

No matter how many times I see people react to this song I still get so much joy from their reaction when they hear Marco. They're so not prepared for it

Yes always do the live versions as long as you are doing Tarja - she is brilliant live. When you move forward to Anette's æra, (2005 - 2012) please switch to the studio versions while Anette is a brilliant studio musician in Nightwish. She is also brilliant live, just not in Nightwish regi - while Tarja and Floor are so much more powerful that it wouldn't be fair to Anette. And when you comes to Floor, then fasten you seatbelt - as Marco the bassist and singer says - for the first time I will never be afraid any more of overpowering the lead singer - and he is right. As the other male Nightwish singer Troy says: Floor's stratospheric voice..... - AND YES Nightwish have 3!!!!!! Phenomenal singers!!!! When you comes to Floor - just start from Wacken 2013, and follow the setlist, starting with Dark Chest of Wonders - their opening song in this legendary concert. Please enjoy your Nightwish journey, it will change your life - especially when you start digging into the lyrics also. They are deep, and there is a reason why Tuomas who writes 90 of their songs, are widely considered to be the modern Mozart, Beethoven and a little touch of Shakespeare - in one person. Fun fact. This was Tarja's last performance with Nightwish. And she had a pretty bad flu during this show. She didn't even know if she would be able to go on stage that evening.

I was lucky enough to see Phantom in Los Angeles. It was the 2nd to last performance with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. Phantom is my favorite stage production. After seeing this I want an all metal version now.

Man I have a short memory. I tought I had missed your first Nightwish reaction, but I checked it out and sure I've seen it. Glad you are back with Nightwish. I think "Ever Dream" Wacken 2013 Official Live would be a good introduction to Floor. Marko on vocals with her, they complement each other amazingly. If you like something heavier and creepier, then I suggest "Ghost River" Wacken 2013. And of course you can't go wrong with "Ghost Love Score" Wacken 2013. Hi again from Helsinki Finland!

Now that's a proper Nightwish reaction...Tears streaming down your face, a look of disbelief in what you have just seen/heard, and a realisation that 'other' music is so ordinary, so insignificant.

I love people who love music. If music can't bring out emotion then nothing can. For a completely different view of Nightwish music I have to suggest you try the Islander. Amazingly enough Floor is the backing singer to Marco on that, and his voice is excellent.

I have been a fan on this band since the early 00's. I love this version so much. I've watched a lot of reactions to a lot of metal, but this.... This may have been one of the most authenticate and genuine primal level reactions I have ever seen. Seeing how deeply this touched you touched my heart intimately in a mutual love of music sense. The intensity of your reaction spoke on so many levels. I'm glad you loved it so much. Nightwish's version is my personal favorite.

Great reaction, as one would expect from doing a Nightwish video :-) Although I agree in principle that the theatricality of a band such as Nightwish is easier to bring out in live versions of their songs, there are tons of perfectly acceptable album versions. On your first Nightwish reaction, I mentioned songs like Wanderlust and The Pharaoh Sails to Orion, certainly worth a listen if you find the time.. Also, if you're starting to like Tarja, you should definitely check out 'Within Temptation - Paradise (What About Us?) ft. Tarja', where she and Sharon den Adel puts on a powerful performance in one visually impressive video...

Great reaction! I heavily recommend all live videos of the "From Wishes to Eternity DVD" (all on youtube), they are the best imo. Especially "Swanheart" and "Walking in the Air", they fit Tarja's (btw you pronounced her name very well this time) voice so well imo and are emotional too. Looking forward to more Nightwish, they have over 100 songs already ;)

Not gonna lie, Tarja impressed me with her range. I wasn't expecting it given the beginning of the performance, but well done. Still, the Original Cast is still the best, in my opinion. Of all the versions I've listened to, nobody holds a candle to Sarah Brightman. However, if there's one woman that could blow her out of the water, it's Kate Lott of Voctave. And they did, just recently, put up a recording of the Ladies of Voctave singing the very end of the song from home. And, as expected, Kate Lott hit that E6 effortlessly. Just... WTF?! I so want to see Voctave cover this song. Still... this is now my second favorite version of the song. So, I guess, congratulations Nightwish. You now have a new fan. :)

My dear, do yourself a favor. When all the covid restrictions are lifted, book a trip to NYC and buy tickets for the live musical at the Majestic Theater. I saw it back in '99 when I was in college and it's an amazing experience. As soon as the pipe organ kicks in, the floor vibrates, your chair shakes, and a plethora of emotions runs through your body. You feel joy, fear, suspense, awe, and so much more. You may even shed some tears, but that's ok. You're surrounded by musical magic & genius. It's sensory overload and it never gets old.

I have fond memories of seeing this performed with this line up many moons ago. It was a wonderful emotional experience.

If you haven't, Scaretale. it's their second singer, Anette. Very creepy. Marco gets to play ringmaster, kind of. For a Bond sounding Tarja without Nightwish, do Supremacy. just want Marco, While Lips are Still Red, The Islander, or High Hopes from this one. and yes the Wacken 2013 concert was phenomenal. some with both Floor and Marco, Romanticide, Song of Myself, and I Want My Tears Back, and there may be a few others, don't remember the set off hand, but you said it. Epic :) but for sure do Ghost Love Score with Floor if you haven't. You having done the Tarja version will love it even more than usual. I love the eye design !

Marco doing High Hopes from the same concert, While Your Lips are Still Red from Wembley, and The Islander from Tampere are some of the other video evidence for just how awesome Marco is. Also, Floor (current singer for Nightwish) and Henk Port (Dutch singer/actor and reportedly Webber's favorite actor to play the Phantom) did a version of Nightwish's arrangement of this song on the TV show Beste Zangers. It was pretty damn good.

Nice reaction.......Sorry your tears messed up all that eye work. You mentioned wanting to hear Floor.....She sang "Phantom" on Beste Zangers ( Dutch TV Show )with Henk Port in 2019. It was a tiny venue and a somewhat toned down version. I think you will enjoy it as well.

Those were some beautiful tears to behold. Get used to having tissues ready when doing Nightwish videos. They come in handy! And, I don't know about an ABSOLUTE rule about only doing live videos, but in most cases live is best. Some of their music videos are quite good but you don't want to miss the live energy.
