@@perfectkismet That actually makes sense. Mitch can also rap. I guess in my mind if you can say words very fast without tripping on your tongue while holding an imaginary beat in your head, those are the two talents required for beatboxing as well.
Yes. But someone in one of these I watched said they did base a couple of passages on the way Disturbed laid it out - there's a couple of clear homages to David's note arrangements. It wasn't a sneaky thing, I think they talked to him first.
Scott’s technically a baritone…he covers bass when Avi, and now Matt, sings. Also, Kevin is a tenor, so he doesn’t swap parts with Matt. But, sometimes it’s hard to distinguish who is making which sound because they blend so well together.
Here's the greatness of Pentatonix....they could sing the Simon and Garfunkel way...they could sing it the Disturbed way but no one else can sing it the PTX way. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
@@mmg8823 If you really focus on Scott through the whole time while Matt/Avi is singing you can see him sing the bass in this video and in the original Halleluhjah video, too.
You have heard Scott go that low. You just didn't notice. Anytime Avi or Matt sings lead, Scott takes over bass. Go back through the songs you've already heard and listen again.
When he said disturbed's version, I started laughing lol...Pentatonix don't do other people's versions...they do a Pentatonix version of all the songs they sing hahahaha
Mitch recently released a Billie Eilish cover of Your Power that you two may enjoy. Needless to say I enjoyed his cover over her original ❣️. And Pentatonix NEVER does anything like anyone else! And do not wait for Christmas to react to their EPIC Christmas music......you will be missing out! Start with O Come All Ye Faithful, you’ll see what I mean.
Scott is one of the best baritones around today. He can effortlessly hit any note. He is right on par with the likes of David Draiman. As you rightfully said here at 10:36, they are indeed each exceptional in their own class, and somehow they manage to bring it all together so harmoniously . It is not surprising that they completely uprooted the entire genre. You don't get a group of such high talent, that can perform like this without ever stepping on each other's toes, so to speak.
One reactor paused during Scott start and went on about how lucky they were to get this great base guy, and how he heard there was a new base in this. He figured it out by the end of the song. I enjoyed his confusion!
Yes! Scott can sing bass and covers the bass parts sometimes when Matt or Avi sing. You can see it here during Matt's solo, and during Avi's solo in Hallelujah :)
Kirstie did Broadway, Kevin has channel - KO; Mitch has new solo cover of Billie Eilish, and Scott has done solo work and collabs with lots of folks; Avi has his own work as well
I couldn’t agree with you more. Each individual is soo ridiculously talented on their own but are able to put aside any ego or competition to blend seamlessly together into one powerful ensemble. It takes so much talent and humility to listen to each other and give each other so much space to shine. And they always make it their own no matter what they do. Kirstie has her own solo stuff as does Kevin. And Scott and Mitch are Superfruit. All the solo projects really shine in their own ways. React to some of their original material. You’ll be blown away!
Mitch Grassi released a Cover song of Billie Eilish YOUR POWER recently. You can check it out on your own if you don't want to do a reaction. He is amazing.
I am a big Simon and Garfunkel fan so I have a high bar for any cover of this song. Pentatonix did an amazing job with it! Stunning in fact! I was a bit worried because everyone seem to only know Disturb’s version and I can’t stand it. PTX, as most people are saying, found a space in between. However I believe it’s closer to the electronic version by Simon & Garfunkel in how it affects me. I get chills and tears every time!
@@schuhschrank947 Yes they did an acoustic guitar version and the producer said that they should do an electric version, it would sell better. And it did. It is the only version that I knew until I found the other one on Amazon music. It is on the “The Sounds of Silence” album.
@@schuhschrank947 Yes. The originally did a acoustic folk version and their producer said that they should do an electric version, it would sell better. And it did. It is on the "Sounds of Silence" album. It is the only version I knew until I found the folk version on Amazon Music. The electric version is what they played on the radio.
@@secolerice Ah, at first you wrote electronic but you meant electric! Wikipedia says: In 1965, the song began to attract airplay at radio stations in Boston, Massachusetts, and throughout Florida. The growing airplay led Tom Wilson, the song's producer, to remix the track, overdubbing electric instruments and drums. This remixed version was released as a single in September 1965. Simon & Garfunkel were not informed of the song's remix until after its release. The song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending January 1, 1966, leading the duo to reunite and hastily record their second album, which Columbia titled Sounds of Silence in an attempt to capitalize on the song's success. The remixed single version of the song was included on this follow-up album. I listened to the acoustic and the electric overdubbed version and I realized I knew them both before. Funny is that I am now so used to the Pentatonix version that I always think Simon & Garfunkel are singing this song so fast. And I knew.the Simon and Garfunkel original decades before the Pentatonix version.
I thought I had heard all their songs( many times) but yesterday I heard one I hadn't heard. It blew me away! "Making Christmas" is now one of my favorite videos I've ever Seen! Amazing!
Each has done stuff on their own. Kevin (KO) has his own channel and released covers and original stuff. Kirstie has released originals on her own. Mitch and Scott have released albums as Superfruit (which is the name of their channel) as well as their own individual stuff. Avi has his own channel and released albums. He does covers and a lot of original stuff. Matt, I think, has some solo stuff, but he is still young. LOL
Kevin's solo work is a must, the guy has so much talent! Superfruit ( Scott & Mitch ) excellent & Kirstin has sang on Broadway, recorded an album & has other side project's. I've seen some video of Matt doing other things, IDK if he has his own U tube channel like the others. Anyway, peace😎P.S. Don't forget Avi's solo work !!
Kristen has recorded some Disney medleys with the acappella group Voctave. Pentatonix has recorded original Christmas music and has done several Christmas specials specials on NBC.
I've always thought that too. That Pentatonix is basically a super group, like say the Highwaymen or the Beatles. Each member could be the lead of their own group, if they wanted to.
Scott sings bass when Avi/Matt sings solo. Mitch and Kirstie change their looks all the time. Scott and Mitch had a group called Superfruit-they had a channel together and put out two EPs and did a tour. Kirstie had a wonderful EP called Love.
Scott has a 4 octave range. He takes over bass when Matt takes lead. The ranges all of them have is amazing! And then when Kevin takes on a singing role you see how amazingly talented this entire group is.
Mitch and Scott had a RU-vid channel . The videos have a variety of music, and just fun. Their Beyonce medley and Defying Gravity are great. Also the do a Frozen medley with Kirstin.
They all have their own side projects, Superfruit (Scott and Mitch have EPs) Kevin has EPs, Kirstin has an EP and done Broadway, Mitch is producing his solo stuff now. Matt has his side projects too. But they all commit to Pentatonix in forefront.
They all do solo stuff and side projects. Scott and Mitch also have their side project called Superfruit. The group agreed in the beginning that they could do whatever side projects they wanted but Pentatonix came first.
Scott Hoying is a baritone. You have heard his bass notes before. Whenever Avi Kaplan or Matt Sallee has the lead, he takes over the bass line. By the way, he can also hit some really high tenor notes. Watch Problem. (You will also hear some amazing rapping from Mitch.)
Scott, Mitch and Kirsten have been together since high school. They found Avi and Kevin just before the Sing Off. Avi left because his mother was ill and he wanted to do some solo stuff. He helped them find Matt. Mitch and Kevin are roommates and have done stuff under the name Superfruit ( Rise is really good as is their Frozen medley). Recently I noticed a Mitch solo. Loving your channel. Hugs from Newfoundland.
Kevin is the beat boxer. No one else does that ever. The only swap of roles is when Scott sings base when the actual bassist is singing lead. That’s it.
Scott and Mitch have their own mini group called Superfruit. They have a song with Mary Lambert, Brian Justin Crumb, and Mario Jose. It's a cover of Katy Perry's "Rise". Omggggggg...... it's AMAZING!! And Avi, he has a song called "Change on the Rise", which is freaking awesome! It shows how underutilized his voice really was. A definite must watch!!
These guys are so tight. Everything is perfect. Their vocals, the arrangement, the lighting, the video direction, editing...heck, even their dress style! Their attention to detail is excellent. Mitch's voice is stunning, but Scott is my favourite. He has an incredible range, and such a warm tone to his voice, and lovely vibrato.
Scott is normally a Baritone, but he can do Tenor as well. Check out his and Mitch’s Super fruit cover of the Broadway show “Wicked; Defying gravity”, and they’re just goofing around!
Don't wait for Christmas; PTX's Christmas music is that good. Mary Did You Know? for example, should be on everyone's basic PTX list, and I would highly recommend Oh Come All Ye Faithful too - I guarantee it will put a smile on your face. And Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy won them one of their three Grammys.
The PTX version, maybe? You're right in that they all do everything to greater and lesser degrees. They cover for each other, depending on what they need at any point. :)
If you've listened to other covers from them, you've likely heard Scott go low more than you realize! He covers the base notes when Avi/Matt take the spotlight! They're all incredibly talented with ridiculous range lol
@@schuhschrank947 "en," "in" now you are just picking nits. However, I recognize your desire to demonstrate that you know more than I do. Have fun with that.
@@schuhschrank947, no disrespect was meant and I was not going to make the excuse of "autocorrect," however, you are entitled to feel the way you feel.
Scott is the baritone, he covers bass when the bass has a solo, but he sure does shine in the mid-range and reaches very high other times. (Mitch - every time!) Scott and Mitch have their own channel on RU-vid.. Superfruit.. silly, serious, fun, they feature guests... A Capella Christmas?... they have at LEAST 8 or 9 Christmas albums. One of their Grammy's was for DANCE OF THE SUGARPLUM FAIRIES. One of my favorites is one of their originals, THATS CHRISTMAS TO ME. Please react to GOLD, one of Mitch's finest.. it's mixed but live. (Kiiara cover.. I suggest listening to her, then PTX)
Scott and Mitch do a group called Superfruit. Kevin (KO) has his own stuff that will BLOW YOUR MIND. Scott has put out some solo stuff, same with Kirstie. And now Avi, of course, makes his own music.
You need to watch/listen to IMAGINE, and Elvis' I CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU!! They all have done something individually and Scott and Mitch have Superfruit.
Scott and Mitch do an on-line "thing" called Superfruit. It's a mixture of a lot of things, whatever they feel like at the time. Most of it is irreverent and naughty messing around and mocking. Now and then they settle down and do a clear song together, sometimes with friends. Sometimes it's witty, sometimes it's a mess. Oh well, they enjoy themselves.
Kirstin has her own album out. Scott and Mitch are superfruit which is crazy! Kevin has some solo work as well. As you said each one could be successful but together they are a force! You should check out their latest all original album. "Can't hold us" is a good old one to react to. Christmas is in their dna, especially their "12 Days of Christmas"!
Scott is actually classified as a baritone. His range is low enough that he sing bass when Avi - or now Matt - sing solo. Check out the live version of Hallelujah, you can clearly see Scott takeover immediately as Avi sings his solo in the beginning. Pentatonix - Hallelujah (Pentatonix Christmas Special): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-haFHrfmfHbc.html
Scott will take on the role of bass when the bass singer is singing. Avi and Matt will beatbox from time to time. Recently I’ve noticed they can all participate in non-beat sound effects. It’s all so spectacular.
Pentatonix make it their own "version". They each have an incredible voice and could be the lead of their own group. And that "side project" you mentioned with Scott and Mitch, is called Superfruit.
Since I now know you have a wife and children, so I recommend you react to another acapella group “Voctave”. They are an eleven member group that does the greatest harmonies you may ever hear. Try any of their Disney medleys for starters. They don’t have a basso profundo or a beat boxer, but you won’t miss those as you enjoy beautiful harmonies.
In another video you mentioned you like their up tempo songs, if you haven’t seen them yet, react to Love Again (an original), Can’t Hold Us or New Rules/Are you that Somebody 😀❤️
Missing Avi so much, maybe you should react to some of his solo stuff (Change on the Rise, and his more unofficial House of the Rising Sun version is amazing). Or some of Pentatonix live - even songs you've already heard, because it's Incredible and Unbelievable. They do their Daft Punk medley acoustic and it's Insane. Also love your guys' reactions!
