Great review guys. Especially the part about being lowered down on the “All of this can be yours” part. Another song that is pretty deep from them with religious overtones and meaning is “Moment of Surrender”. Then maybe try “Wake Up Dead Man”, “All Because of You” and of course “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”

Back then only 3 of the 4 members were Christians, now all 4 are christians. They even take a Chaplain Pastor to their tours. Their Pastor used to be Rev. Jack Heaslip(yes you can look it up). Since he passed away they now have as Chaplain Pastor Rev. Martin Wroe.

I don't know if you have already heard it, but if you want to hear a really brilliant U2 song about a crisis of faith, then listen to the song LOVE RESCUE ME off the album Rattle and Hum. I would also recommend watching the LYRIC video version to get the full impact of the song.

@@anthonykladitis36 No problem at all. The title of the specific youtube video is U2 - Love Rescue Me Lyrics and the channel is MrWells47. In fact as just as I'm thinking about it, the U2 song UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD would be perfect for your channel if you haven't already examined it. The lyrics revolve around the relationship between Jesus and Judas, with the song mostly being sung from the perspective of Judas AFTER his betrayal of Jesus. Incredible song

Great Review of Vertigo. Take a listen to U2’s Drowning Man off the War album. BTW, Bono’s Dad was a postal worker who loved the Opera. Also, the song 40 off the War has been used in many churches as a worship song. Check out the song Grace on All That You Can’t Leave Behind. Excellent song about God’s Grace.

A good many of their song lyrics on there later albums have a religious origin/meaning. Mysterious Ways, Until The End Of The World and City Of Blinding Lights are a few examples.

Agree. I recall, "All because of you" being pretty heavy with gospel themes as well.

Nice review. You did a good job of merging the music, video, and lyrics in your analysis. Actually, this whole album(How to dismantle an atomic bomb) has a pretty strong biblical influence. All because of you is basically a praise song, and it ends with a prayer, Yahweh. In between are songs that allude to prayer (Miracle Drug and Love and Peace). Apparently, there was a song co-written with Michael W. Smith that didn't make the final cut of the album.
