Nice cameo from Beverley, always good to see how the warp engines work, love the idea of ramscoop collectors just collecting deuterium from the atmosphere as youre going along, its easy to forget it was made for a younger audience at times, its so well made and the graphics are beautiful.. ive still 4 episodes to go, i know im going to miss this show when im done
The title of this two-parter is a reference to the Disney film "Last Flight of Noah's Ark" (with Elliott Gould, Geneviève Bujold, and Ricky Schroder). In that film, a group of people crash-land a B-29 airplane on a deserted island and have to try to collect materials to turn the damaged airplane into a boat to sail home. Absolutely love the callback, that was so fun! And we always love a good Bussard Collector cameo. ;)
As much as I dislike Beltran as a person, I have to say that his performance as Chakotay is really moving in this series, particularly in this episode. Him finding the skeleton of his friend and first officer Adreek is heartbreaking and surprisingly dark for a kids show. "Adreek you did it! You were right all along" man the delivery of that line is powerful, his voice breaking up, filled with both a sense of grief and hope! The animators even went as far as depicting the ocular ring bones in Adreek's eye sockets, as an Earth bird would have. I guess because he is not human, they could push it just a bit more with his skeleton... This show is like the Avatar The Last Airbender of Star Trek, a show for the whole family from kids to adults, and is effective in each and every age group of its audience. Simply great Star Trek!
