Yea the storytelling really is pretty all over the place because they had to heel Swerve up for the Bryan match and turn him baby face again for Hangman. And last year Swerve was super evil lol But these guys are so great that they make it all WORK. Did ANYONE who watched that ending NOT want to buy the PPV JUST to see that match on Saturday?

And that’s the beauty of it, there’s complexity to the story and the characters. It doesn’t always have to be pantomime villain vs pantomime hero. Drew vs Punk right now is exactly that, there’s no clear good guy and they’re both kind of anti-heroes

I started running through a YT playlist of the Hangman/Swerve feud from the beginning. And in many ways, Swerve brought this on himself by provoking Hangman and pushing him into madness.

The angle was ridiculous to me. Burning a guys house down is too far in wrestling. Do *laws* not exist in wrestling? Drew Mcintyre and CM Punk is at least based in traditional pro wrestling logic. This is absurd, but beyond that, I don't look at Hangman as the heel at all. I know he's *supposed* to be, but to me he's the babyface. Swerve broke into his house, and not but a few weeks ago, threatened to cripple Bryan Danielson in front of his daughter, and AEW expects me to feel bad for him? F*** this guy, lol. I don't feel bad for him at all in storyline, he got what he deserves.

I would argue that Hangman's actions are no different than Drew stuffing bits of the bracelet down Punk's mouth and then making him choke on it by giving him a Claymore. Outside of the wrestling realm, that would be considered felony assault. "Too far" are words that are practically nonexistent in wrestling, considering Orton burned a coffin with Undertaker in it and also ran him over with Eddie Guerrero's lowrider.

I agree its way too much to just ''look past and enjoy''...If it is something in the arena fine, crazy shit happens at ufc all the time after fights...or atleast sometimes...and people dont rlly get arrested...so you could forgive the angles where people get beat with chairs...or when drew put the beeds down punks throat like this guy is arguing. Welcome and hope you enjoy AEW, stay away from online negativity as much as you can (its sometimes very impossible to do that with a wrestling fanbase) and just enjoy what you like be it AEW , WWE , NXT , ROH , NJPW , Marigold , Stardom , TJPW , DDT , NOAH , AJPW , BJW , GCW , whatever it is. my personal favorite show is AEW because they still have great in-ring segments and this year they are doing a lot better than 2022-2023

I love seeing AEW invest in storytelling. Thank goodness they didn't do back to back Sunday PPV's again. They used this time to build the show so it doesn't feel like a bunch of matches that aren't good enough to be at Wembly. I hope they keep it up and invest more time into the Women's devision.

i've been saying this for a long time , AEW is really going back to the old school booking style they had back around 2019-2021 this year. 2022-2023 was so bad for them that they still feel the effects for it so its about time they gone back to what made AEW , AEW.

@@fscorpion678 They've always told the beginning of stories. The problem I've had is the lack of them committing enough to get to the end or just randomly ending. For example the Young Bucks came back abusing their power and took out Tony. Tony sold the injury for about a week or so before going back to business as usual. For a little while people were rallying to take them down. Then one day they stopped caring about each other. It should've been a big deal that ended at a ppv with a stipulation that they can't abuse their power anymore or something. Instead it just fizzled out and the Bucks are just another heel team.

The only thing that could have made this better is if they posted the Swerve video earlier, and then we had a week of space. Just to make it a bit more realistic. They could have done a second video where Swerve's stuff get moved into the house and then Hangman is picking up stuff like memorabilia and putting gas on them to make it even bigger and more personal

A lot of wrestlers would do well to learn from punk and McIntyre, plus hangman and swerve. This is storytelling on a higher level, the execution between the characters involved actually means something, and it doesn’t feel like a feud for the sake of a feud, and it’s also something that, even though it keeps going on, continues to build layers and keeps fans invested. I recognize not all things can be a top card feud, And you certainly don’t want to play this one out either company by creating too many like it, but this is next level for both companies compared to their championships right now.

AEW needs to make sure Hangman wins in the cage by adding something to the feud, like introducing someone to augment Page . This is too big to settle in 1 cage match now, AEW has a history of not letting stories really go to an end , like they have no patience in the creative dept. EVERYONE expects Page to get destroyed . Can't be that predictable. Love the old school story they have ignited , pardon the pun but this story could print money like the Tommy Rich Buzz Sawyer feud did back in the Day

Dude literally so much shit is recycled throughout all the companies. How many times is a faction member going to turn on someone? How many times is a tag team going to break up? How many weddings do we have to have? It's pro wrestling dude, companies steal from other companies all the time. Did you say that WWE is literally stealing the angle that AEW did with MJF creating the American championship, and If Dragonov wins the US title hes going to turn it to the European title? and don't say well the European championship existed before... That's a cop out. Then there was the angle a few months ago when Hangman came out on crutches, faked an injury and then used the crutch on swerve. The next week on Raw, Rey Mysterio came out on a crutch, faked an injury and used the crutch as a weapon. 🤦🏻

First and foremost, genuinely a great angle, their entire program, it's truly been a great storyline... Genuinely, the most complete angle this company has done so far and I mean that in a good way. Every story should be done with this level of care... Every key storyline anyway should be done with this level of care and effort going forward... Have to disagree with you both though, granted I'm not a wrestler, so with ultimate respect to Tommy especially, have to disagree with you both about Strickland necessarily being a good guy, simply because his house got burned down in this story... Simply because, in this Feud, Strickland threatened, potentially jeopardized the well-being of a baby, action's don't get any worse than that, if you really think about it, so.. Ultimately Strickland brought this upon himself. Do unto others after all, so..

Lol tommy swerve brought his childhood home its really blurring lines of is this reality except if it was reality page would be in jail i have to say i really enjoyed the segment and im pleased aew finally just letting go and not pretending there this sports based wretling show, no we need stories over the top characters sports entertainment if you will dont hide from it just admit its what sells in wrestling and just because wwe do it best it dosnt mean you cant do it too, good buisnessmen cannot be to prideful to see another company thats thriving and not use some of same ideas.
