Reaction to BABYMETAL "SYNCOPATION", "FROM DUSK TILL DAWN" and "OVER THE FUTURE" 

Finally the Babymetal poster! Yay

Syncopation is a masterpiece and so is From Dusk Till Dawn, and Over the Future is one of the more important songs in BABYMETAL history! :)

Yeah, the light work they did for "From Dusk Till Dawn" is probably the prettiest they ever did! Really breathtaking!! For "Over The Future" it would have been great if you could have also seen Karen Girls version, but still these were 3 really good songs! :)

Excellent reactions. 'Syncopation' was a Japan exclusive track on the Metal resistance album - the international edition had 'From Dusk Till Dawn' instead, so you reacting to both of them was a real treat. Both are such good songs. 'Syncopation' has only been played once outside of Japan - at Brixton in London in 2019 ... I was one of the lucky people who was there to experience it in person. When the heart beats sounded at the start we couldn't believe they were going to play this song. Su has said she was surprised that everybody there already knew the song as it had not been released outside of Japan. 'From Dusk Till Dawn' had only ever been played live once - that was in the USA and although it was filmed there were complications with rights so the only video anybody had ever seen of that performance was from fan cams. Because of this, when they had fans vote for the top 10 songs for the 10th anniversary there was a campaign to vote for this song. As a result of that they did play it at two of the 10 Budokan shows and we finally got the pro-shot video we were so wanting to see. 'Over The Future' is a big song in the history of BABYMETAL. It is a cover of a song Su-metal sang in her previous JPop trio Karen Girl's and it was what she was singing when Kobametal first heard her and was so impressed with her vocal power and stage presence. Yui was in the audience at that same show. She was a big fan of Karen Girl's and their songs (this one in particular) had helped her get through a very difficult time when a close relative was facing a life threatening medical issue. Yui was too young to be allowed into the intensive care unit to visit, so she would sit in the waiting room and the hospital staff would put her favourite music videos on for her to watch ... this was what she watched. Yui learned all the dance moves to show her relative when they recovered and they took her to see the Karen Girl's farewell performance. Yui danced along in the audience and at the end declared to her family that she wanted to be a Karen Girl's member. When BABYMETAL covered 'Over The Future' at the Legend D show (Su's 15th birthday in 2012) Yui and Moa got to perform it with Su, an original Karen Girl's member. Yui said this was the moment her dreams came true.

Nice to see you getting deep into the BM catalogue. I won't comment on "Syncopation" as it's not on my BM playlist, "From Dusk Till Dawn" is on my playlist for relaxation, it reminds me of The Cure and 80s EMO/Goth which is a good thing. Finally "Over the Future" is a cover of a Karen Girls (Pretty Girls) song. Karen Girls was a short lived group that Su was in, with Ayami Muto and Yuika Shima, when she first signed with Amuse. Yui was a big fan before she signed with Amuse and listened to them during a tough time for her when a relative was sick in hospital. So she said to sing this song with Su was when her "dreams came true". The wings often associated with Su come from the other Karen Girls song "My Wings". This is Legend D in late 2012 so we get Babybones doing air guitar to a backing track. The Kamis would appear in the next concert, Legend Z, and slowly replace Babybones over the next year.

I don't know if you remember from the BabyMetal Guide you watched but Over The Future was a cover BabyMetal did of Su's fist group Karen Girls It was also the song Yui and Moa used to audition for Sakura Gakuin

Interesting choice you did here, Syncopation and FDTD are related, both from BM 2nd album but Syncopation was released only for Japan and FDTD was included on the international version only, both awesome and kickass song but good thing to hear FDTD become one of your favorite, is mine too and many fans were waiting for this 2021 proshot live version for years, it is something special for sure and one of the few songs entirely with english lyrics, fortunately this version got more vocal clean so lyrics are more accurated now since we don't have official lyrics from this one till this day, love the lights too, the color is like the aurora borealis or northern lights effects. Over The Future (Rising Force Version) at Legend D 2012, SuMetal 15 Birthday is a Karen Girl's cover, SuMetal (or Suzuka Nakamoto or Su-chan) former jpop group in 2009, before Sakura Gakuin, there's a lovely story involving YuiMetal with this one, i let someone else tell you about it 😉 Btw they put Rising Force version to this 'metal' version, i guess is a wink to previous single with many other versions like Catastrophe mix, Light Speed mix, Untouchable mix and Instrumental version. Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。(1) "Syncopation" reminds me, an aged Japanese, of good old songs to which I listened several decades ago at home sitting in front of a TV set. BABYMETAL, however, gave a new power to this type of song. That is one of the magics they have. In the last year's 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts, I witnessed this song beautifully performed twice at the venue. When the intro started, my heartbeat went faster. (2) As Grington300 300 commented below, only a limited number of people on June 16, 2017 in Hollywood had been privileged to experience "FDTD" for 4 years. On February 16 last year, when the intro started, everyone at Budokan was firstly shocked and gradually god excited understanding what was going to happen. At the end of the song, however, everyone got confused with what he / she witnessed because it was too surprising and mesmerizing. On the following day (Feb.17), the audiences came to the venue expecting the setlist would remain the same and FDTD would be played again. Once this song started many of them (including me) just stared at the stage without moving as if they were trying to burn the performance into their retinas. Su-Metal sang it perfectly with her divine voice. And Moa and Momoko did perfect choreo like angels smoothly dancing around the goddess. Oh! I actually saw and listened to it twice for sure, but still "was it real?" (Even after I reconfirmed it in Blu-ray video) (3) "Over The Future". Please refer to Grington's comment.💛

Excellent choice of songs and reaction wonderful as always . As Grington 300 300 mention Syncopation only performed once outside Japan at Brixton Academy in London and like Grington i was there as well . The rush to get phones out of pockets was hilarious at moment my copy has got 142 K views on my channel! One of my favourite songs . From Dusk till Dawn another favourite of mine that note Su hits at begaining always gives me chills and like you Over the Future always makes me smile and just love Su coming in like a Boss and how happy Yui and Moa look performing it and Yui's story connected to this song icing on the cake 😁 thank you my weekend gets off to good start with this reaction ( 6.30 am i should be asleep on my day off 🤣) ❤🤘🦊🤘

Awesome reactions, thanks! And what three songs! "Syncopation" is one of my top favorites. The song is just perfect in my opinion: the guitar work, Su's vocals and that sublime ending. "From Dusk Till Dawn" is still a rarity and I love the dream trance vibe there. And yeah, Su belting those notes!! And finally, "Over the future", despite being a cover (well Su actually covers herself which is weird LoL), has probably the most powerful background story of all of their songs.

Great reaction, to three different songs - a wonderful treat 🙂 About FDTD, I have to agree that it is a true standout track in their catalog, and obviously quite different from anything else they have done. I understand it was from an aborted cartoon project, which is why it is very rarely played; in fact it's only been played live two or three times, if I'm not mistaken. As for Over the Future, of course you know it's origins with Su in Karen Girl's (sic). I love this particular arrangement as it starts with Moimoi and half way through Su makes a dramatic entrance to take it to the next level. Brilliant stuff. It was a real treat for Yui as well, as you know.

From Dusk Till Dawn... Love this song. Heard one Reactor calling it "dream metal".... When a friend of mine first heard this, I had to point out the high pitched sound he was hearing was the singers voice....🤘🦊🤘 know any bands that does music similar to this?

Great reaction as always ! Of course people can't stand still for the most energetic/dance-able/infectious/melodic metal music show in the world. You are also moving just sitting there. 🙂 6:09 her straight vocals is maybe her greatest talent, it may not be as flashy/noticeable to first time viewers, actually some accuse her of lipsyncing. Which is annoying. 10:54 my guess is that colour is cyan or possibly turquoise or teal. Babymetal team is really good at taking an existing piece of music and pulling out the essence and then merging it with an other essence, in their case metal music. You can see it with these covers of pop songs (a very important song for Babymetal op course) how it got shaped into a metal song and they somehow make it fit/integrate. It's really cool how they do it with new songs as well, merging genres.

Syncopation is one of my favourites. It has a great flow and energy. Interestingly, I'm starting to like From Dusk Till Dawn more and more after seeing the live performance. Fascinating how much of a difference the visuals make with BABYMETAL. I haven't had that with any other band. I can't quite get warm with BABYMETAL's cover versions. Their original music is just so good, the covers can't reach that standard. The only one that I really like is Tamashii no Rufuran.

Nice reaction. An amazing ability to sit still through those songs. A great trio of songs by Babymetal. Exclusives in their own way. There's still a debate over the lyrics for "From Dusk Till Dawn". It is hard to tell just what she is singing. There's been a few attempts at it. The idea of the song remains but the details of some of the lyrics changes from line to line in the interpretations. Also everyone agrees all the lyrics are in English. Over the future is one of the few cover songs Babymetal have done. Yui and Moa both did solo covers from the year they were born. Su got to do 2 songs from the year she was born. All of those songs are fun to watch. they did them in the early days of Babymetal when they didn't have enough songs for a full concert. Many bands have done this. Just not the year they were born part. We're enjoying your journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music.

Syncopation is only available in the Japanese album. Dusk Till Dawn is on the Worldwide version of the album. Originally Syncopation was only played in Japan and vice versa for Dusk till Dawn. Syncopation has now been played outside of Japan. Not sure about Dusk till Dawn being played in Japan though. Please play the Karen Girls version of Over the Future. Sue looks so young in the MV.
