Who said that fado is always sad and sentimental? If you listen "Amor de longe" by Raquel Tavares you'll see it is quite the opposite. I remember Amália Rodrigues singing "O fado da Mariquinhas" or "Senhor Vinho" and those are not sad fados.
Nice one! I don't know many bands from Portugal, I think I just know Madredeus and Moonspell. This one was a good one, a little bit like Madredeus, maybe.
I found another singer from Portugal that I plan on doing soon. Mariza. Of course you can search for her and watch as you like. I don't know any singers from Portugal, so you've got me beat.

@@JohnCregoWorldMusic Mariza is a great fado singer, but another one is Ana Moura, or Gisela João. If you are interested in other types of music there are Salvador Sobral, Amor Electro, and many other younger singers.

Must listen more often fado singers...try Mariza - gente da minha terra ao vivo em Belém. I love and apreciate a lot this reacting this music but this is not Fado, i don`t consider fado but it`s my opinnion. However Carminho is a fado singer star.
OK. Well, I'm new to this so I may be mistaken. I did a video of Mariza doing Chuva. WOW is all I can say. She is amazing and gorgeous too. Unfortunately the video got blocked. I might try to post it again and maybe the algorithms won't catch it. I just did a video of Ana Moura which is scheduled to play Aug. 20th.
Why would anyone care to ask any American's opinion about Carminho and Portuguese guitar playing? He doesn't know anything about fado, anything about desgarradas, he doesn't know what instrument is being played and, above all, he doesn't care! He's got no idea but, actually, the whole thing is unfair to him. It's like: what do you think about The Tempest, E. L. James?
It's definitely an uneducated opinion. Maybe someone thought I might like it enough to investigate it further. We all have to start somewhere. I like music in general so I can listen to anything and decide if I like it or not. There are plenty of times I don't know what instrument is being played. Does that mean I shouldn't listen? I've been learning a lot about music I've never heard before thanks to the many suggesters and commenters. If I were from somewhere else, would that make a difference to you? I would have to read The Tempest and a book by E.L.James. Then you can ask me.
It is the second time I have seen a RU-vid video you have produced. What I have noticed is that you seem to be a very good professional, but you do not show your emotions. I am not sure if you are really appreciating the song you listening to or if it is just OK, from a technical point of view. Am I wrong?
I'm an observer. I don't flail about like some reactors do. As far as this particular song goes, I liked it well enough. It's a bit new so I let it wash over me. I don't get emotional about much. People tell me I talk too much during a song but that's my way of reacting to it. I can listen and talk at the same time.
