This absolutely IS about crime and shoplifting. I attended college nearby and there were always police cars on the front to deter shoplifting. The CTA "L" stop is right there. People would just rob and then run to the "L".

I know it is being done to prevent shoplifting. The fulfillment area kind of takes me back to the days of Service Merchandise.

It's Service Merchandise's business model from the mid 80's. Don't let the thieves near anything of value. You pay for your items, then receive them. This will drive the criminals insane.

I work at a West side Walgreens and the Chicago Police told my store manager that they will not be responding to retail thefts due to the warmer weather and increase shootings. This Walgreens seems like the right direction but what about my store?

Of course it’s about crime. Why else would Walgreens do this? Anyone who doesn’t like it should get used to it. Unless crime goes down, this is the way it is.

I dont hate but I think this is going to backfire badly on sales since people will be less inclined to make impulse purchases if they can't physically see the impulse in person
