I am absolutely astonished to see that Criterion has finally added a mainland Chinese film to the collection… 1,200+ films in. What an odd oversight up to this point, on their part. I’ve heard many a tale of how the rights holders make it difficult to release physical versions of the films, but perhaps this could signal the opening of the floodgates? For years they’ve been sitting on the first four films by Jia Zhangke, one of the greatest directors alive, and there hasn’t been a peep about any upcoming releases. My fingers are crossed for that to finally, finally change some time soon.

Great Criterion release video! The reason Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid is more expensive than most releases is because there are three versions of the film: the theatrical, the extended cut, and the director’s original cut that has never been released. I’ve only seen this film out of the new releases but looking forward to checking them all out eventually to see if they’re worth purchasing!

Le Samourai was one of my earliest Criterion purchases. One of those icy cool French gangster films you shouldn’t miss.

Great video! Keep up the awesome work! Greetings from Greece!!

Perfect Days is my most anticipated release of the summer. Paris, Texas lives in my soul. It's pulled up a lawn chair and not gone anywhere.

I’m also excited about Pat Garret and Billy the kid . Perfect timing for the July B&N sale

First-time visitor-thanks for the video. I think this is probably Criterion’s best release month in a while; I’ll be picking up “Pat Garrett,” “Le samouraï” (upgrading it from the DVD), “Black God, White Devil” & “Farewell My Concubine” for sure, and I’m also interested in the Wenders but not so much in “Risky Business” although I did use to have a crush on Rebecca De Mornay when that first came out! I saw a 4K restoration of “Farewell My Concubine” in a movie theater last year-super powerful film and particularly great to see here in the U.S. because Miramax’s Weinstein had idiotically decided to chop out 30 minutes of the movie when it was first released in the U.S. Anyway, a lot of great choices in July hopefully just in time for the 50% sales…

My Barnes and Nobles is now getting criterion movies in

Risky Business is a cool movie!

Looking forward to “Pat Garret.” That movie is intriguing just for the Dylan connection, but is a good western too. I have the first release of “Le Samurai” and highly recommend it. The connection between Delon’s character and the code of the Bushido is not spelled out, which is good. I’ve been trying to think what family or friends I could share that movie with. I have to be sparing with my foreign-language choices for other people.

Here in the UK Criterion releases are as rare as hens teeth, ive only bought three so far, Klute, Its a mad mad mad mad world and the one ive just finished watching tonight Le Samourai, not on 4k but, which was excellent, an example of how to get everything right in a movie, something Hollywood doesn't know how to do nowadays, I would love the Hitchcock Criterion releases of Foreign Correspondent, Rebecca and Notorious, none of these have had a bluray release on any label in the UK , i live in hope of a UK release of these three.
@saraprestwood
I see you doing well
