The song is a love song to her fans, telling us that we are special in her eyes, and that WE are her celebrity. It asks us to know that we are loved. It’s a request to love ourselves. The MV, however, is the illustration of her journey of how she herself came to love herself. In the beginning she looks uncomfortable in the spotlight and she’s shown to be lonely in a crowd that’s faceless and anonymous. It’s constantly shown how she sees another version of herself, who is a stranger to herself. In the end, she follows this stranger/IU, only to find a mirror. It’s symbolic that this person she has been chasing all along was inside her all along. It’s a journey we’ve had a peek through her songs like 23 and Palette. Once she realized this, she’s able to smile in the spotlight, rather than feeling like she needs to hide from the press she was hiding from earlier. The message is poignant, in the wake of losing so many of her friend to self harm. She’s imploring her fans to love and cherish themselves as she’s learned to do herself. It’s a continuation from her message in Eight.
Her song '23' was about the push-pull of being a child and adult at the same time. 'Palette' was about her adult personality being established. '8' was about the accumulation of grief in her 28th year,. With 'Celebrity' she appears to have come to terms with being both the bashful quirky lyricist Lee Ji-eun and the celebrity IU at the same time.
Haha wow you actually noticed quite a lot of details! Yes, as some others have pointed out, IU is right handed and the "celebrity" word in the beginning was written by her with her left hand. The star drawn with her left hand in the choreo I'm sure was intentional too. Apparently the producers of this song are the same producers that created Dolphin by OMG. The genre is called Tropical House and it is something IU has never tried before. She shared that she tried many new things for this album so I totally can't wait for her album to drop. the choero scenes I find veerry cute actually because Jieun used to do a lot of music videos with choreo early on when she was younger and then her sound and interests matured and we don’t see it a ton now, especially not the girl group aesthetic she’s doing here, so I can definitely see where she’s trying to mimic a fun girl idol vibe along with the celebrity and fame motifs but these scenes were just so FUN and CUTE and I can’t stop smiling when they come on it just looks so adorably fun.

She is everything, and some personal suggestions and some of her most well known title track releases: Twenty Three, Palette, Through the Night, Ending Scene. I do recommend her Palette album in general, maybe for your patreon or just for your own listening pleasure, her b-sides on that album are an absolute pleasure, like Jam Jam, Can’t Love You Anymore, Dear Name, etc. she is a glorious songwriter and her lyrics feel so relatable and still poetic.

She said in her album introduction that she wrote the lyrics which is inspired by her friend who is being different/unique. This song is for all of us, she's telling us that even we're painted with the left hand (assuming that the right hand is dominant), we have to embrace our imperfections, because those imperfections is what makes us unique, special, and CELEBRITY in our own way.

IU is such an amazing lyricist and composer. You can feel her sincerity of the lyrics of her songs and they're always written masterfully. This is different in a way sound-wise compared to her previous songs but the lyrics and structure of the song is still very much IU. She always tries something and that's what I love about her. Since a lot of the comments have already mentioned 23 and Palette, I'll recommend "You and I" and "Above The Time" MVs (these two are released years apart but they're connected in terms of lyrics and MV plot), and the special clips for "Dear Name," and "Zeze."
Yep, I don't think there's an update for the album release itself. Recommending You and I and Above the Time MVs - in this order lol You and I is the title track for her 2010 album and Above the Time, uncluded on the Love Poem album, is the continuation of sort of the first song. 5:29.
